I'm trying to post data up to a server and have it bounced back to me as a file download, prompting the native browser file download box. I know the server part works just fine becasue I can post from a demo web form, but when I run the following Flex 3 code, I can't even get the request to fire.
var fileRef:FileReference = new FileReference(); private function saveXmlAsFile(event:MouseEvent):void {
I want to download a file from the server(wamp apache) using actionscript and if i use the filereference for downloading it will ask the user to select the path for downloading.
A project of mine involves a flash movie (.swf) in a webpage, where the user has to pick from a number of items, and has the option to thumbs up or thumbs down (vote on) each item.So far I have gotten this to work during each run of the application, as it is currently loading the data from an XML file - and the data is still static at the moment.I need to persist these votes on the server using a database (mySQL), such that when the page is reloaded, the votes aren't forgotten.Has anyone done this sort of thing before?The two mains methods that I have found on the 'net areeither direct communication between AS3 and the SQL using some sort of framework, orpassing the SQL query to a PHP file, which then executes the SQL query and returns the SQL to AS3.
Which of these methods is the better option?For the latter method (involving PHP), I have been able to find resources on how to acheive this when attempting to retrieve information from the database (i.e. a read operation), but not when attempting to send information to the database (i.e. a write operation, which is needed when the users vote). How is this done?Edit: Implemented solutionSomewhere in the PHP file:
I want to know the 'file path' when an user selects a file from 'any location' on his hard disk. I like to know is it possible to fetch the entire file URL instead of the file name alone?
Code: var fileRef= new FileReference(); fileRef.addListener(mylistener); mylistener.onOpen = function(file){ [Code]....
step1- I got an xml that is locally loaded(works fine) step2- the content goes into a datagrid that is displayed (works fine) step3- In AS3 I dynamically add some lines to this xml file(works fine) step4- I save it locally (works fine) step5-and want the datagrid to be updated..(works not-so-well)
So, in step 4, the data is saved into the xml file, but in order to finish the save, the user has to click on the "Save as" windows in order to have the file updated of course.. and that's where's my problem, how can i tell flash to wait till the user actually saves the file, before reload the xml file in the datagrid ? here's the code :
I've a flash AS3 based application that provides option to play/pause/record FLV files from flash media server. These files are only audio files. Now, I want to add a new functionality of inserting audio at a specific location.Like if the already recorded file is of five minutes duration, and I want to record 1 minute audio after third minute, the end result should be a six minute file with the new audio added from 3rd to 4th minute.
The code flow is as follows: user clicks 'download details' button on the page -> on button click handler a call to a RPC method is made using s:CallResponder -> RPC method generates and returns a URL from where to download the file -> the success event handler of the CallResponder gets the url where FileRefrence.download() is used to download the file but throws following error:-
Error: Error #2176: Certain actions, such as those that display a pop-up window, may only be invoked upon user interaction, for example by a mouse click or button press.
For a project we need to download and save pdf files on an IPAD device for offline use through an AIR for iOs application. After a lot of searching I haven't found much information on this subject. My question is, can it be done, and if so, can you provide us with some pointers to lead us in the right direction.
I have an object inside my flash file and i want to lock the object on 0 x-axis 0 y-axis but when i re-size my SWF file my object's location changed to another location how can i fix that?
<s:TextArea id="editor"> <s:textFlow> <s:TextFlow id="_tf" > <s:p>Lorem ipsum etc.</s:p>

But still no joy in inserting into the middle. Also, the above code wouldn't replace highlighted text, but that's not the real concern here.Based on Eugene's link the key to this is EditManager.The following code represents the working updated function:
protected function imageBtn_clickHandler(evt:MouseEvent):void { var em:EditManager = editor.textFlow.interactionManager as EditManager; em.selectRange(editor.selectionAnchorPosition, editor.selectionActivePosition);
I have a flash app that needs to download a file, whose name contains UTF-8 characters.
Internally, the filename is read from a UTF-8 XML file, e.g. "my filé.pdf". The code goes something like this:
url = get_filename_from_XML(); req = new URLRequest( url ); ref = new FileReference(); ref.download( req );
The problem is that the URL is encoded in Latin1, i.e. the é is encoded as %E9 instead of %C3%A9 (according to FireBug). How can I get Flash to encode the URL correctly?
I'm trying for making out application for vod.I want to know how a user can make his file readable by the AMS for vod when file is at different PC and AMS( includes swf and HTMl files) is at different PC.
I am a new bee to flex. what i am trying to do is to generate and save the layout design which nothing but canvas to a pdf format at the server. Currently i am able to display the pdf in browser (see the function below:) but cannot save the file at the server.
private function continueToPdf():void{ myPDF = new PDF( Orientation.LANDSCAPE, Unit.MM, Size.A4 ); myPDF.setDisplayMode ( Display.FULL_WIDTH ); myPDF.addPage();
I was working with FMS 3.5 and using the function 'copyTo()' to copy a file to a desired location. Code: fileObject.copyTo("store/"+name+".flv") store is a virtual directory defined in Application.xml file in the server side and name is a variable that stores the fileName without extension This was working fine with FMS 3 and FMS 3.5. Now, I moved to FMS 4 and noticed that this copyTo() function is not working. In the FMS Admin Console, it throws an error:Error: File operation copyTo failed.
I am trying to save some images from Flash to Php by sending a jpgstream, capturing it in php and pushing it to a file. Not sure what I am doing wrong here.
I am putting all the images I need into an array like so: (history is just where I am keeping all the image data)
[Code]...
But this doesn't seem to do the trick. I have been going through a bunch of different tutes and code snippets, so maybe I just ogt something confused along the way. I have done this before though and don't remember it being this difficult.
I am working on my first Flash website for my photography, and along with placing watermarks on my images, I want to disable the users ability to "Right Click", and other saving options.
(By the way, I do not know if this matters but I am using "Adobe Flash CS5", on a Mac, running the most up-to-date version of "Snow Leopard". Also, I assume in-order to disable "Right Click" and other saving/downloading features I would have to enter some code; Can you either post the code, or put the website where I can get it?)
As a first step getting a Hello World Flex-to-Java application to compile and run I followed: [URL] And it ran successfully. However now I wish to automate the build in Maven. How to specify the Flex Server location in the pom.xml?
I created a simple button that displays an error messeage: "error opening 'url" when I test the movie, but does play and opens in browser after publishing. However, it won't open in the browser in a different location. I pasted the html code in a web page but it doesn't work there nor opens in the browser in a differnet location from where it was originally published and saved. Why is that?
I want to have a xml file for my configuration and so i have to load it from the same directory the swf file lies in and save it afterwards. I saw articles about filestreams in flex but my compiler didn't allow me to use the filestream. I use the open source flex sdk
i have some xml-files stored at a specific folder on my server.now i want the user to be able to choose one of those xml-files (best solution would be that he has to press a button and a "file browse"-dialog opens, which shows him the xml-files, which are stored on the server). what would be a good solution to implement this functionality?
I have an Air application with remote service in codeigniter.I'm trying to save a bytearray that I received from the Air app but when I save the data I get empty files with the correct filename.So there must be something wrong with my bytearray or the way I save the data.Does anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong?I've debugged the Arraycollection I sent and the bytearray is definitely in there.
public function uploadImage($image) { foreach($image as $img)
I'm trying to copy my SQLite file that is used in my Air app to user's selected directory using
var fileSaveDest:FileReference = new FileReference(); fileSaveDest.save(dbWorkedFile,'Inventory.DB'); dbWorkedFile is a File dbWorkedFile = File.documentsDirectory.resolvePath("Inventory.db");
I tried this but the saved file isn't a valid SQLite file. Also, I was wondering whether it's possible to embed SQLite to Air? If so how can I import and export the database?
I'm having a problem trying to download FMS developer edition.Basically when I try to download I get a window where I have to update my address data, which I do so correcly.
