I've a flash AS3 based application that provides option to play/pause/record FLV files from flash media server. These files are only audio files. Now, I want to add a new functionality of inserting audio at a specific location.Like if the already recorded file is of five minutes duration, and I want to record 1 minute audio after third minute, the end result should be a six minute file with the new audio added from 3rd to 4th minute.

All I'm trying to do is load an external .swf file into a precise location on the stage of my existing Flash file. I've spent an hour and a half on this site search and found nothing. What do I add to my loadMovie command to place the file at specific x,y coordinates?

I am trying to attach a movie clip at a specific location on the stage using the following code:attachMovie("plane_mc", "mc", 1, {x:50} );The statement above does attach my MC called plane_mc onto the stage but it won't attach it at the location where I want it to. The x parameter doesn't seem to have any effect whatsovever on the stage location.

I'm writing a web based flash app that's written entirely in AS3. I have objects on the screen as part of a GUI. I would like the user to be able to resize the window, or make it full screen. I would like everything to auto-scale with the resize, but also remain in the same relative position on the stage.

I may just be forgetting something really simple here but I'm stumped.I have 2 guys on the stage.I want one guy to do a certain amount of damage and the other to have a certain amount of health. The problem comes from having hundreds of guys coming and going and they all need to have stats attributed to them.I don't know where I could store those variables so they can be referred back to in the code. The guys on stage are all named guy1, guy2, etc. and it would be nice if there was a way to just say guy1.health and guy2.damage and store the variables in the objects themselves somehow.
Also, I already tried putting "var health = 10" in the actual objects in the library but for some reason it takes 2 or 3 frames in game for the code to call those variables from inside the object and it causes a lot of problems. Am I missing some much easier way to do this?

I am trying to track mouse location on the stage in a swf file with Action script. I found properties that appear to have x and y location, stageX and stageY as well as localX and localY. But I am getting compiler errors to the effect of attempt to access possibly undefined property: as follows: 1119: Access of possibly undefined property stageX through a reference with static type Class.

If you load up a FLVPlayback component in Flash or VideoDisplay in Flex and try to seek to a specific location or set playheadTime to a specific location, the movie always rounds up or down by very large amountsIn flash, drag a FLVPlayback component to stage and set source to Then try to video.seek(6) or video.playheadTime = 6;It will just goto 10. Likewise if you use their built in scrubber the only intervals are 0, 5, or 10. So at most the scrubbing frame you see is 3Here is an example of flex with the same result.

Issue: I need to move a rectangle (that has only sides and no fills) to a specific location on the animation, what happens is that if the user enters some info (through HTML form processed by PHP and sent to the movie through FlashVars), this info should then me find the x and y coordinates of a button that should then be overlapped by this said rectangle.Code:
Code:
if (_root.signUp == 1){ // the FlashVar variable flag
var buttoSym= "_root.thumbMain.thumbSymbol.b" + _root.signNumber

I created a simple button that displays an error messeage: "error opening 'url" when I test the movie, but does play and opens in browser after publishing. However, it won't open in the browser in a different location. I pasted the html code in a web page but it doesn't work there nor opens in the browser in a differnet location from where it was originally published and saved. Why is that?

When running a flash application that I run locallyie I get to it from a browser but with a file pathNow, most of the time the shared objects are stored in%APPDATA%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjectsXXXX#localWithNetBut occasionally, it reverts and thinks this application is running on localhost%APPDATA%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjectsXXXXlocalhostwhich means all previous saved settings are gone.I'm wondering if anyone knows how flash decides if the application is infact localhost or localWithNet (local with Network access)

When running a flash application that I run locally i.e., I get to it from a browser but with a file path
file:///C:/Projects/test/bin-debug/Main.html#
Now, most of the time the shared objects are stored in
%APPDATA%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjectsXXXX#localWithNet
But occasionally, it reverts and thinks this application is running on localhost
%APPDATA%MacromediaFlash Player#SharedObjectsXXXXlocalhost
Which means all previous saved settings are gone.
How flash decides if the application is infact localhost or localWithNet (local with Network access). Rebooting can sometimes make it revert, but I've also had it stay localhost for a few days then revert.

Say I've got a utility class in which I would like to access the stage (in order to get the frameRate).
I don't particularly want to force the user to pass in the stage to each method or set a static property on my class before using it.
Is there any way to get ahold of the stage without it being passed in? All I need is the frameRate!

I have a simple question regarding the objects that are on stage. If you make a symbol in the Flash editor, export it for actionscript and put it on the stage, how can you refer to it in an external .as file which contains the document class? I tried using getChildAt() but that returns a displayobject, and I want to modify properties of that instance of the class of that symbol.
I need this because I am trying to make a scrollpane that adapts it's size to the screen resolution, and it's source is a MovieClip that isn't on stage but in the library. I also want the source to adapt it's width and height to the screen resolution. Is this possible? For this to work I need to refer to that source MovieClip in my as3 file, and I can't figure out how to do that...(in this situation it isn't even on stage but I guess I could make it invisible and put it on the stage if nessecary)

I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with this code:
[Code]....
I have a sample XML file with two images. If I remove either of the items from the XML, it everything displays fine, but with 2 items in the XML, the first item doesn't show an image, but the second does (maybe the first is being attached in a position behind the second?)

Ive tried looking in a whole bunch of threads for a solution to this probably common issue but to no avail.I have a bunch of objects of same type on the stage which are generated through code.Inside these objects which are generally at x=300 on the stage.
Code:
this.x+=2.3;
trace(stage1.localToGlobal(new Point(this.x,this.y)), ", ", this.x , " ", this.y);
stage1 is the stage object I pass into my class.The trace output is as follows
(x=2.3, y=0) , 2.3 0
Now im expecting some values in there somewhere to indicate its actual location on the stage, ie, x=300.This isnt happening.Whats the correct syntax i should be using.

I have 4 movieclips that are animated around the stage and a basket movieclip button as the home button in the far left corner. When I click the basket I would like to have actionscript animate those 4 movieclips into the basket with an acceleration in 20 frames. This I can easily do without acceleration as I can find out the current location of the movie clips, find out the distance between it and the basket and then divide it by the number of frames I need, and then use that as the speed. But to be honest I am not sure where to begin when I include acceleration. I have dabbled with acceleration in the past but not with a specific number of frames in mind.

Well, I am working on motion detection in AS3.
I already understand how it works, now in this swf what happen is there are filters added to the video(output) to make the motions color white. I will put the files here.
The swf is inside the bin folder. (this is made by soulwire) Here is his site/blog
[URL]
I am trying to mod it to improve it. Well you can study code if you want to
But what I want to do with getColorBoundsRect is:
- Having only one source to detect the color "WHITE". But having multiple "getColorBoundsRect" detecting white on that ONE source but on DIFFERENT regions.
Lets say this M1(colorboundsrect) will only detect the first part of the source) and M2 will be detecting on another region of SAME source.
1 source, but multiple getColorBoundsRect on different regions of that 1 source

IE 8 Flash CS4 v10 Windows XP Home SP3 (NOTE: The word "Resize" refers to an HTML change of the movie size; it does not refer to a Window resize)
Objective: Display a transparent 800x600 flash movie in IE, stretching movie to 100% width and height of webpage but keeping the objects within the movie from getting re-scaled. Objects are re-positioned at runtime via ActionScript with values meant to be relative to stage dimensions.
Problem: The movie resize is messing up the object re-positioning. The movie is indeed stretching to 100% of the width & height of the browser window's client area, but the objects are repositioned relative to something else (perhaps screen dimensions, but not sure). Result: Objects which were programatically positioned relative to original stage size are spaced way too far apart in IE, in some cases off the screen entirely, though they were not like this in the Flash editor.Question(s): Why are objects which were positioned within the original stage dimensions being kicked off the browser screen while the movie itself remains entirely on-screen even after resize? What dimensions/values are guiding the automatic post-resize repositioning of the objects? (These proportions appear to be different from the change in proportions of the movie itself.)
