Professional :: Browser Resize Of Flash Movie Mis-positions Objects?

Feb 16, 2011

IE 8 Flash CS4 v10 Windows XP Home SP3 (NOTE: The word "Resize" refers to an HTML change of the movie size;  it does not refer to a Window resize)

Objective: Display a transparent 800x600 flash movie in IE, stretching movie to 100% width and height of webpage but keeping the objects within the movie from getting re-scaled.  Objects are re-positioned at runtime via ActionScript with values meant to be relative to stage dimensions.

Problem: The movie resize is messing up the object re-positioning.  The movie is indeed stretching to 100% of the width & height of the browser window's client area, but the objects are repositioned relative to something else (perhaps screen dimensions, but not sure). Result: Objects which were programatically positioned relative to original stage size are spaced way too far apart in IE, in some cases off the screen entirely, though they were not like this in the Flash editor.Question(s): Why are objects which were positioned within the original stage dimensions being kicked off the browser screen while the movie itself remains entirely on-screen even after resize?  What dimensions/values are guiding the automatic post-resize repositioning of the objects? (These proportions appear to be different from the change in proportions of the movie itself.)

ActionScript 2.0 :: Make The Flash Movie Resize In The Browser Window?

Mar 12, 2005

I'm working on a school project. It contains a main section which has 7 buttons. Each of these buttons is a character which you can zoom in to, see who they are, click and see a small cinematic/animation and proceed to it's respective section. I have a couple of concerns.

1. What is the best way of loading my project? I've been thinking of using the loadMovie and have placeholders, each section with a progress bar. what should I load when?

2. how can I make the flash movie resize in the browser window using actionscript ? so that I have no problems with screen resolution sizes. I use 1280x1024, but I guess there are still people on 800x600(which is lame) Here is an example of the resizing I mean: [URL]

The flash movie takes up the whole browser with no scale. The movie clip is always over or under the point in space its suppose to be. When i trace the value or the movie clip's _x... its the same as the Stage.width... but it doesnt portray that visually on the stage...

ActionScript 2.0 :: When The Browser Is Resized, Make The Movie Resize?

May 16, 2008

When the browser is resized, how do I make the movie resize?in the HTML parameters, I put width 100% and height 100% and in the .swf file I have: Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";Stage.align = "TL";ow, I notice if I were to shrink or make my browser stretch out. The swf doesn't resize on it's own to fill the space when larger or resize when you shrink the browser width/height. I've been told to use a listener, but I have no idea how it works, I've tried putting in scripts with no luck.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Stage Element Positions On Resize?

Feb 2, 2011

I'm creating a website within which I would like to achieve a menu system at the bottom of the page with a white band behind similar to this site:

I have created the menu buttons and band but I can't figure out how to maintain their relationship with the edges of the browser window if it is rezised at any point during a user's visit (same as the site above).

I have been setting the position of the buttons and all other elements using, for example :

myBtn.y = stage.stageHeight - 100;myBtn.x = stage.stageWidth - stage.stageWidth + 50;

For publishing I use noscale, 100x100 percent, top-left justification.

Flex :: Resize An Entire Air App AS IS - Ignoring Component's Positions And Sizes Logic - Like Zooming

Dec 5, 2010

i have written an air app which is fixed in dimensions: 1000 w X 800 h i have set the resizable and maximizable tags of the app-xml to false, to prevent the user from changing it's size. this app looks and interacts perfectly at these dimensions but not at other: it has "bad" coding techniques in it like hard-coded display sizes and such, rtl and ltr combined layoutdirections and so forth...

when the applicationComplete event dispatches, i check Capabilities.screenResolutionY and if it is less then 800 i want to resize the app programatically (preserving the width/height ratio). i have tried all the StageScaleModes and tried changing the dimensions of the stage, the nativeWindow, the app itself("this") and so on in every combination.

i am looking for a way to resize the entire app as is, meaning i dont want to use display logic of the components and such, just to "shrink" or "expend" the whole app as is, with hard-coded pixel amounts to change within the logic of the app accordingly (change all sizes, locations, fonts etc.. in sync) the app should look and work exactly as it did in it's 1000x800 default size, only smaller or bigger

Professional :: Center Flash Movie In Browser Window?

Jun 28, 2011

how to horizontally center my Flash movie in the web browser window after publishing?

A bit of background: I was able to achieve this using <center></center> tags a few years ago. But I have since upgraded to CS5 and I understand that this old method is now obsolete.

I have found a few threads/forums that address this, but I know nothing about HTML and these threads don't help me because they assume you have more knowledge than I possess. When opening up the index.html file in Dreamweaver I can't find anything that looks vaguely familiar to what is being discussed. I have found some code samples using <div></div> tags but have no idea where to place it.

So I will need it explained to me in a step by step fashion, including which file I need to fix and what program I should use. Code samples will be very welcome if you can tell me exactly where it goes.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Positions Of Child Objects Oddity?

Sep 12, 2011

in short, i have object A, a container. Within this is object B (a child object) which has some x and Y offset that I input.I need to know the offset of object B, because i want to place other objects at the same onscreen position as B, but on the same level of the heirarchy as object A My problem though, is that B's offset from A isn't changing when i would expect it to - when the parent object is scaled. I set B's x offset to 200 pixels, and no matter how much i scale up or down the parent object, B remains in the same visual position relative to it. And B's x property is still 200, regardless of parent scale. This information is not meaningful to me, because i know that B's actual offset position from A is more or less than 200 onscreen pixels. I need to be able to figure out exactly what it actually is.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Resize To Fit Browser?

Aug 27, 2010

I'm also completely new to flash and Actionscript 3 programming. I got Flash CS4 two days ago and i've already started work on a website by following various on line tutorials and I'm beginning to pick it up.One thing that I haven't been able to work out is how to make my site centre in the browser. My website consists of a 1000px by 700px stage. However it is simply white space for the right and left 150px in leaving the actual content in a rectangle in the middle, 400x700. Now when I test my movie in CS4 it renders perfectly in the centre of the screen with no issue. However when uploaded to my domain, it is always not central

Javascript :: Resize Flash Object From The Browser Without Flickering?

Jul 10, 2011

I was wondering how to achieve the native scrollbar effect which TheFWA (thefwa.com) has managed to do pretty well (I am not a fan of Flex scrollbars).and implemented the technique, as I am calling a JS function through ExternalInterface every time, when the flash object changes size. This JS function simply resizes the div which holds the flash object, which creates the native bars.Unfortunately, when I resize quite rapidly (from 800 to 1800 height, for instance) the flash object simply gets warped for several milliseconds (as if it hasn't changed its size, but simply got pulled in all directions). After these milliseconds, things get back to normal, but the whole situation is really visually annoying.

Originally I thought that it's simply a timing issue, but after a bunch of attempts to set a delay, the effect was the same ... just delayed. How can I resolve that? I know it's technically possible. Just take a look at TheFWA, and see how smoothly flash and the browser are communicating with each other to make the native scroll bars work, without any flickering, or mismeasurement
