I would like to create a main menu and a hud within the application that stores and displays user information. Buttons like sound and main menu options should exist.. Now i cant seem to find any examples of how to create this user interface / hud.

(As its a standalone offline application).I know about the JPEGencoder classes and all.I can't use FileRefrence because it asks the user where he wants to store the image while i want to save the image in a pre-defined folder automatically.

Im not sure if this will work for touchscreen phone because i got it from a sample program from my lecturer in college but i dont know what i should do as it wont recognise a press on the screen.
I have got the game fully working, although i want to add a couple of features, one of them being more laps to the track itself. At the moment the user can only go around the track once which gives him a lap time and the game finishes. Could someone give me some advice or solution on how to create more laps to this game? I suppose for me to do this i would think i need to create an array the stores the laptimes, and a counter that saves how many times he has crossed the line?

I have some text that says go to page with a input textfield box and a go button. This is a flash cs4 file.I want to have the user input the page number and have it go to that frame.I am using actionscript 3.0 and have bought 4 books and researched online and still can't find what I am looking for.I can make the go button go to whatever page I want I just don't know how to get the information the user put in the box.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to create a global variable that initially stores a 0. Then via a function will change the value of that global variable, and allow the other functions to access the new number. I have it working where it adds 1 to the variable, and stores the number 1 however, I cannot get the number to add up beyond 1.
I have this in my first layer,frame.

I am looking for a tutorial on creating a sophisticated user interface/menu. Here's a reference: [Code] - I am aware its done in swish but I want to be able to do it in Flash 8. What I've accomplished so far is to create a rollOver and rollOut effects wherein rollOut reverses the movie clip back to its first frame. I was also able to add an 'on release' script where it will play an external movie clip...
This are the AS that I've done so far:
1. I placed this AS on the MC (instance name bam) that has the rollover and rollout effect tween.

I'm in the process of creating an application in AS3 where the user can arrange a number of display objects (move/rotate/scale/...) in a container.When the objects are added and arranged in the manner the user prefers I would love to have a button that 'captures' a part of the screen and returns an imagefile (JPEG?, BMP?) that can be used for example in MS Word.
View 1 RepliesI have a wordpress based site that stores information about an image in a database field called "background" in a table called "wp_postmeta".The 'loader' gets an url such as "/thisImage/background.swf"The "background.swf" should somehow display "background.jpg" instead but since I've changed the field name in the database (from background to temp_background) it doesn't work.I pass variables to the "loader" swf and they are correct based on the new field name but it still isn't working.I need to know if there is anything in the .fla's (and therefore the .swfs) that is pointing to somewhere in the database hard-coded. Basically I need someone to look at them and tell me how they are working.
View 2 RepliesI'm currently working on a project were I would like to enlargen some of my menus ( there are wround 30 menus ), and this should be done when the user clicks a on one of the three buttons in the "main-menu".Now, I've been trying to create a function that, when one of the "main-menu" buttons is clicked, are called. This function then defines the menus and makes them scale, however the following code returns: "undefined".[code]Maybe a "for" loop isn't the solution, or maybe I'm just trying to define the items in a wrong way, with the array thing ( "...item[q].sca...").Btw. all the menus are loaded in dynamically through an XML document.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to create a nav system that expands to show sub-sections when the user rolls over main section buttons.Let me describe exactly (as best I can) how this would work:A vertical list of 5 menu buttons is stacked and distributed at equal distances.The user clicks a button (lets say Button 2) and Buttons 3, 4, 5 slide down to reveal the sub-nav below Button 2. When the user clicks or rolls back to any of the original 5 buttons, that subnav closes up.Does anyone know of a good tutorial for this type of nav or have anything I might be able to dissect and work from?

i need to develop an image gallery that displays images based on certain values chosen by the user. Imagine two sliders such as "gadgets" and "cars". The sliders provide values from 1 to 10. The flash movie then generates a gallery based on those provided weights. The user may want more gadgets than cars or all cars or more cars than gadgets etc. Im a tad lost as to where i should start here...XML? MYSQL? should i start swatting up on AS3?

Currently i'm developing a facebooks apps with falsh application. i've have completed the development with all API required to run a facebook apps. Everything went well and it's live now. My question :

How can make user to go directly to the application page everytime they click the link posted by user who already use the application instead going to the canvas page applications. i'm been trying to look for the article that support saying that user will go directly to application directly to canvas application page instead of going to the application page.
is it possible to extend the access.log file? I want to pass user information via the connect method to the application and want to include this data in the access.log file.

So I have a PHP proxy that gets information from a website. Let's say the proxy gets the information from (www.example.com). It checks if the number of lines returned is the same as before, if not then there are more lines, it counts the difference then it need to push this information to the Flex client saying that it has new information, (x) more lines have been written.I am not really sure how to do the push mechanism on the php proxy because I am not sure how to actually push from the proxy to the client, never done it before.

I've made a flash page with user input for email and comments. The thing is I am working with a aspx.net server. The programmer has written out a aspx coding for the server side. Now all i have to do is write a script in the input fields in flash to connect to the aspx server. The progammer said that I would have to create variables inside the flash program to call to the aspx page he created. I am faily new to aspx and have no clue to writing a script with variables.

MC_1 :Is the selection menu.I want to import from a text file the different help sections or catagories....eg.. Setup, Administration, Customizing, etc......Then i want to import from text files that are labelled and corrisponding to each section that will list the actual different help selections...eg..(Setup) would have sub menu options of System Requirements,Server Install, Client Install.I would have these sub menus in listed in different text files for each section heading.
MC_2 :Then when somene clicks on the submenu options like 'Server Install' in the given example Movie Clip 2 would import from yet another text file the actual help information in an HTML format
Questions:For MC_1 I am not sure how I should go about creating it!I assume I will be creating a MC inside of it, one for each variable it pulls in from the Header.txt file.....how do i do that when the number of variables can change?And then it will pull in and create the sub menus one for each variable that it finds in its own text file, again the number can change?From there i should have no problems having the sub menu, when clicked on, would pull the text info in html format into MC_2.
i used systemManager.addEventListener in sub application...... it is working well....but when i load sub application into main application through swfloader it doesnot working..
View 1 RepliesIm trying to create a gallery application in flash. I created a movie clip and inside of it I create a loader variable. After loading it i want to put it on the stage but not using the same loader. What I am trying todo is to load the information, and the copy the loaded information to a different loader that lives on the main timeline (root) and then use the addChild to put it on stage but its got to be on the main timeline or a different movieclip, not the same movieclip that loaded the object.
View 6 RepliesI have a movieclip (named "checklist")with a great number of input text boxes in it. This clip is used early in the my movie (frame 1) and again at frames 20 and 30. The problem is that in the later frames the information the user typed in the first frame is no longer there. Now I could use the var parameter and set it to _root for all of the boxes, but I've been told that the var parameter is a bad way to go. Rather, I should use the name option instead, i.e. "myText_txt". I tried experimenting with objects, but I am not a programmer and so I am probably doing this wrong.

So, I am looking for a best practice. Should I just use the var parameter? That way all of the text fields update when the movie hits frames 20 and 30.
I have created an XML driven Drop Down menu using the kirupa tut by Senocular found here. I am trying to figure out how to get the submenus to push the rest of the main menu down on rollover kind of like this. Not sure where to start to get the AS to get the button created fromt he XML nodes to move down.I haven't changed the code found int he tut too much and the menu works fine except that the rollovers just go over the main menu.
View 1 RepliesI am looking at creating a menu with three movieclip buttons on a main menu. I want to keep these buttons on the top of the screen at all times. I am opening different swf's and I want to make sure that the buttons are still showing. I know there is something with changing or swapping the depth of the movie clip when it loads the new swf's in, but I have not found anything that is seeming to work.
