ActionScript 3.0 :: Save Information On .swf On Website?

Feb 1, 2012

How do I make a flash document that records numbers on a server, so that whenever any user uses it, it updates so that when another user accesses it, they will see the current value and can update it. I'm thinking of just starting off simple and making a button that when you click it, the total count for the number of clicks increases by one, but I want to make it so two users using it at the same time will see each others' click and have it updated on their screen (with refreshing).

ActionScript 2.0 :: Save Information From 1 Scene?

Sep 8, 2009

I may be asking for something that is just too simple with this request, but is it possible to save information from one page without the use of PHP, ASP and other server scripts.

I have tried using Shared Objects but it just doesn't seem to work for my example as people have already been sorted into time order to create a leaderboard so not all information has to be stored.

I have attached a basic example of what my leaderboard looks like and all I want it to do is remember the leaderboard for the next time somebody logs onto that machine ... ? I may still be able to use Shared Object but I am not sure how to in this situation.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Save Debug Information To A Text File?

Nov 1, 2010

I have an as3 game that I am trying to debug. To do this, I allow the game to play itself repeatedly over-night (which generates information for around 500k games) and then I analyze the info in the morning. I would like to save the debug info to a text file instead of using trace statements. Currently, the game creates about ten strings per play which are printed to the screen. Is there an easy way to save these strings to a text file?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Create A Game Where Circles Appear On The Stage And When The User Clicks On One It Disappears And Their Score Is Updated?

Dec 12, 2009

I'm trying to create a game where circles appear on the stage and when the user clicks on one it disappears and their score is updated. The circles appear for a short time then dissapear. If they dissapear before the user clicks the user looses points. The game is to last 20 seconds then the user will be shown their score and a little thanks for player message. This is what I have so far:

stop();
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, playGame);
function playGame(Event):void    {

[code]....

Now what I'm having trouble with is all the timing. I need a way to turn the visibility off the circles after a few seconds of being created and I also need to set the duration of the game for 20 seconds.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Store A Simple Cookie That Will Remember The Score For The Next Time The User Plays The Game?

May 6, 2007

I'm just trying to store a simple cookie that will remember the score for the next time the user plays the game (the score governs if an option is visible or not)It all works fine until I close browser/reload the page, at which point the shared object seems to disappear, any clues?

Write:

Code:
var rem_score:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("score");
rem_score.data.score = new Number(score);
rem_score.flush();

The problem prolly lies in my write code but ill post the reading aswell just incase there is a problem with that too

Code:
var rem_score:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("score");
if (rem_score.data.score != undefined) {
this.remdscore = rem_score.data.score;
if (rem_score.data.score >=30) {

[code]...

There is another point it is read but it is the same sort of thing as the above.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Adobe AIR Nested Tables - Save The Information For A Layout Of Movie Clips On Stage

Jul 24, 2010

I am trying to save the information for a layout of movie clips on my stage. I am using the sqlite functionality in order to be able to save the layout to the local database. Each layout consists of several movie clips. My plan was to store pertinent information regarding these movie clips (such as x and y position) in order to be able to reload some new clips in the exact same place.

My problem here is that I want to create just one row in my database for each layout, but I want one column in that row to store the information for each of those clips (in a single row). Is there some kind of nested table functionality in sqlite?6564

ActionScript 3.0 :: Importing Variables (information) From User Maintained Text Files.?

Jun 17, 2009

i am making a quick and dirty flash help source for my companies site.  Later on i will tweak I will pretty it up. I am going with two movie clips that i believe will be sufficient for now as seen the layout below....[code]....

MC_1 :Is the selection menu.I want to import from a text file the different help sections or catagories....eg.. Setup, Administration, Customizing, etc......Then i want to import from text files that are labelled and corrisponding to each section that will list the actual different help selections...eg..(Setup) would have sub menu options of System Requirements,Server Install, Client Install.I would have these sub menus in listed in different text files for each section heading.

MC_2 :Then when somene clicks on the submenu options like 'Server Install' in the given example Movie Clip 2 would import from yet another text file the actual help information in an HTML format

Questions:For MC_1 I am not sure how I should go about creating it!I assume I will be creating a MC inside of it, one for each variable it pulls in from the Header.txt file.....how do i do that when the number of variables can change?And then it will pull in and create the sub menus one for each variable that it finds in its own text file, again the number can change?From there i should have no problems having the sub menu, when clicked on, would pull the text info in html format into MC_2.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Input Text - The Later Frames The Information The User Typed In The First Frame Is No Longer There

Sep 16, 2003

I have a movieclip (named "checklist")with a great number of input text boxes in it. This clip is used early in the my movie (frame 1) and again at frames 20 and 30. The problem is that in the later frames the information the user typed in the first frame is no longer there. Now I could use the var parameter and set it to _root for all of the boxes, but I've been told that the var parameter is a bad way to go. Rather, I should use the name option instead, i.e. "myText_txt". I tried experimenting with objects, but I am not a programmer and so I am probably doing this wrong.

[Code]....

So, I am looking for a best practice. Should I just use the var parameter? That way all of the text fields update when the movie hits frames 20 and 30.

Actionscript :: Synchronization - Make Several External Calls To Get Various Pieces Of Outside Information In Response To A User Request

Apr 17, 2011

I am unable to produce the kind of synchronization effects I would like to in ActionScript. The issue is that I need to make several external calls to get various pieces of outside information in response to a user request, and the way items will be laid out on the page is dependent on what each of these external calls returns. So, I don't care that all of these calls return asynchronously. However, is there any way to force some amount of synchronization on ActionScript, so that at least calling the method for doing the final layout and placement of items on the page is dependent on all of my calls finishing?
