What I was hoping to do is once I have my feed pulled in from the source I need to force the text I'm pulling in to be in all caps. status_txt.text = "Client "+images[0]+" 1st Floor:Advertising";
I need 1st Floor:Advertising to be on it's own line in the box.Also is there a way to designate "Client" and "1st Floor" to be a specific color?

I need the Flash Application to send the value of Category plus the search string in my textbox to my Access query and return results for each product meeting selection criteria. The Flash Application is calling an ASP.NET web service which in turn queries an MS Access database.
To start, how do I define the category ID and search value in my Actionscript 3 code?I've placed a series of 12 or so objects that will be populated with the product description, title and price. How do I setup each field to be dynamic text associated with the title description and price from my query results? If there are more than 12 products returned by the query, how do I add an additional page of objects to house more than 12 query results?
I'm dealing with an inline hyperlink in a textarea filled with htmlText. I'm getting incredibly vexxed by this problem with having to click the link twice.I have learned here that this is because the first time a link is clicked, the text area receives focus. Then links become activated. The workaround for this, according to the article, is:

I really wish he'd set this in context, because no variant I've tried works.

I've got an input field and I want the entries to be UPPERCASE, how can I set this up in flash so that these characters appear capitalized even if the user doesn't have CAPSLOCK on?I've tried myTextField.toUpperCase(); but this doesn't work.

Basically, I have a flash app with various frames, each frame contains a "help" button, which when clicked takes the user to one seperate frame with various informative instructions on it. The help button is like a universal tool incase the users need help.
Now, no matter what frame the user is on, if they click the help button, sure enough, it takes them to the "help" frame. The big problem I have, is that I cannot fathom a way to make the users RETURN to the exact frame they came from.
For instance, the user is viewing a frame in the app called "Question 2", they get stuck, they click on the "help" button, it takes them to the "help" page. After veiwing the instructions, they need to return to the question 2 frame, possibly by clicking a "back" button of some description. Likewise if they were on a frame called "Question 3" - they need to return to this frame if they click the help button.
In a nutshell, I need to create a button that takes the user back to the previous frame from the "help" frame, like a dynamic link back or something.

View 4 RepliesI'm having a problem in the input answer textfield where if the user presses return the cursor goes onto another line then if they click on the check answer button it will count the answer as wrong because of the extra spacing. Does anyone have some code that would disable the return key functionality?I realise that changing the textbox to single line would prevent this but it does look messy if a long phrase is entered.

Is there a way to force the text to scroll to the top after it jumps to a new page?

(even though it passes regexp/other internal validator tests).e.g. on lost focus, point out to the user that "confirm email" doesn't match "email" (even though both are valid email addresses). I've got a regex validator on a cell phone TextInput field that ensures the user enters with the international prefix e.g. 0044 for the UK Then I have a confirm_mobile field but I want to check the mobile TextInput against confirm_mobile TextInput.
The input on confirm_mobile could always be a valid phone number and pass the regexp test but I need to ensure field 2 == field 1 and if not then invalidate field 2 (or at least simulate the Validator behavior) to tell the user the fields don't match. I can catch this at the end via a trigger on the form submit button but still need to know how to throw a red box round "confirm_mobile" using a validator.

I just finished a website that requires Flash player 10, and I published in for Flash player 10, but earlier flash players still try to run it.Does anyone know where I can find a script that hides my flash movie and asks the user to upgrade, along with a link to upgrade? the link would start the upgrade installation right there so that users dont have to worry about navigating adobe's website.

I know that as3 has some powerful new text search capabilities, especially when combined with regex. I don't even know if this is possible, but I would like to somehow, search any block of text, and return all nouns, adjectives and verbs. What would be the best(most efficent) way to do this? Is regex an option? or would I have to load in some sort of open sourced dictionary 9as used in spellcheckers) to compare with or?? After, I've pulled all the nouns, adjectives and verbs, I need to count and prioritize by their frequency.

I put one in a movie clip and when i try to change the alpha of it everything else in it changes its alpha but the not the DT box. Could someone plz verify for me that u can't change alpha and help me find a component that allows alpha control with a dynamic text box. thx in advance.
View 5 RepliesI'm relatively new to Actionscript, in fact, I just figured out today how to load text from an external source. I have another issue that I'm not sure how to handle. I have buttons for my main nav, a main text box, and a mini text box (both text boxes are loaded dynamically from external files). I want to have the mini text box load new external text files in the main text box. For instance, I have a button for music, which loads a list of songs in the mini text box. I want to be able to click on the name of one of the songs and have it load the lyrics in the main text box. I'm sure it's simple, I'm just new.
