ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash And Javascript Variables - Lose The "document.write('0');"?
Jan 13, 2005
I have a text file at a remote URL which is populated by a javascript statement. The text file looks like this:
[Code]....
myFile.load("[URl]"); This loads in the txt file just fine, but it loads in everything. Is there a way for me to lose the "document.write(' 0 ');"and just send the "92" to the dynamic text box?
I have this code: [ AS] {document.write("<embed name='midi' src="+mide+" loop='1' autostart='true' hidden='false' width='300' height='100'>")} [/AS]
I want to define a position for this object on the screen. How and where can I put a position? I have tried with document.left=400 or document.style.left=400.This is actually a part of a flash project.

Without AutoHotkey and Firefox -unfocus since it's involved in operating another program and it doesn't work on linux and without Restore Window Focus After Flash addon since doesn't give you control over flash tabs.implementing this gBrowser.selectedTab.unfocus(); method and bind it to a keystroke in Firefox v3.6 ?I've also tried (based on the addon above)
if (document.getElementsByTagName("EMBED").length == 0) { return; } if (document.activeElement.tagName == "EMBED") {
I need to execute some javascript string code from flash swf file using actionscript 3. I read that it could be done by passing the javascript code to the parent html document , using externalinterface.call function. Then I assume it will be faster if I can declare functions in the javascript code in the HTML document in the first use of externalinterface.call funtion ; if flash code calls the javascript code repeatedly. So let me ask you how to do that. For details , any javascript to be loaded is unknown in design time and I can not prepare a javascript file to be loaded.
I have two Flash files on a page. One is a side bar with links and the second one is an image gallery that gets an XML file specified via FlashVars. Now, the side bar is embedded like this:
I want to write a document class to be run within Flash on another computer. I would have the encrypted message in the code and when the class is run it returns the decrypted message.
I can see there're many 3rd party libraries around. However without assuming the other person has the same library installed, has flash got an encryption class (or similar) built in? Or I'll have to write the encryption myself?
In JavaScript I know there is a way to write text onto the document when performing an onclick function. Is there a way to do this in ActionScript? I would like people to be able to click on quiz questions I made and have the answers (along with the word correct or incorrect) to write to the document.
I want to have a flash document that will import certain variables from an XML file (name, age, and gender) and be able to manipulate them in flash... (i.e, be able to change someone's age or gender or even name in the flash program) But I don't have the first idea where to start. The XML I think I know what to do, but not the flash.Here's a sample of my XML file:
I have a little problem in my game. I have a var coins:int = 0; on frame one, and I want to access it from frame 2. I'm not using a document class. Is it possible to make some kind of a global variable like in as2 without having to put all my code from the main timelime to a document class?
I have a simple standalone application written in Visual Basic that I'm porting to a browser based application using PHP/javascript. The original VB application has some simple embedded flash games with token and point counters. The token and point values are being passed as variables between the application and the game.
I'm trying to achieve the same effect in my PHP port without modifying the actionscript code( using the variables in actionscript that already exist). Below is Visual Basic code that's loading a value from a database and posting that value to flash using FlashVars:
is possible to get variable from flash to javascript, php...for example in flash i have :var myVar = 25;how i can get variable ( myVar ) from flash to javascript ( jquery, ajax or php.. )smoething like myJsVar = myVar; ( from flash )or how to list all variables from flash to javascript ( jquery , ajax or php ), and how to set new variables to flash using javascript ( jquery , ajax or other );

I have a flash player embedded on page page.php?user=john using swfobject. The player calls the xml file content.php to get the results. I'm trying to get the user name from the url id. and fetch results based on that. I can get the username on page.php by doing $_GET['user'], but how can i pass that to content.php. Having read allot of articles online, i did the following,I'm embedding the flash on page.php using swfobject like this
<script type="text/javascript"> var flashvars = {user:"<?php $_GET[user] ?>"}; var so = new SWFObject("<?php echo $index->CFG['site']['url'];?>preview2.swf", "sotester",
I am makeing a flash css generator to cusomize myspace profiles, I am up to the point where the full css code is generated, and then assigned to a variable. I am trying to make a preview button that will open a new browser window with a sample myspace profile but using the css defined in the flash variable. I can't seen to figure this out, I have found that the only way might be to use fscommands and a javascript gateway, but I am not well versed in javascript. Im at a standstill, I don't want to release my flash program until I have all its features operational, I have spent the last 2 weeks pulling allnighters from concept & design, to deciding features, and everyone who has beta tested for me says it can't compare to the other editors without a preview option. and I agree.
I'm working on my first flash ASP project and have a question about passing variables from flash to an asp page. Can I write a call to an asp page with variables in the url?
I can open a new window using window.open() in ExternalInterface.call() but then I want to be able to write contents to the new window. Since, I cannot get the reference of the window back from window.open() call, I am not able to do anything to the window once it is opened.
I do not have any control over the HTML in which my swf is displayed.
Has anyone been in this situation before?
Update: After a few hours of trial and error I found you can get out of this situation by storing your window reference globally and referring to the same global reference whenever you need to access the new window.
