ActionScript 2.0 :: Getting Carousel Error When Loading Movieclip
Feb 1, 2010
I am very new to flash and AS and I have been going through a video tutorial that was done in AS2 (I believe). I did what the tutorial told me to do but when I tested it at this point, it came back with an error: The class or interface 'item' could not be loaded.[code]...
Here is the code that I have so far for the carousel project I am working on. I have been using the sites carousel video tutorials but I am stuck at this point.
/*variable which stores how many items in carousel*/ var numOfItem:Number = 1; /*variable which indicates how wide and how tall the carousel to be*/ var radiusX:Number = 250;
I am using the Casousel3 tutorial and getting some cool effects but would like to make some mods - but don't really have the knowledge it seems to do them. I have tried but only succeeded in creating a rather nice white screen. I would like to be able to bring in the images via xml at 75% their original size so that when i click them I can enlarge them too 100% (part where the text comes in - have sorted the enlarging) and not get any pixelisation appearing. I would also like to be able to preload the images as they are loading (with that swirl loading graphic if possible !?)
I'm learning AS3 and getting a null error on my navigateToURL code. The URL is being pulled from XML. The source file is attached as a .zip and it's a great carousel if I can get it to work.
I just completed the carousel menu tutorials 1 and 2, and I'd like to adapt the menu for my own use. I want to have each button go to a different URL when clicked, and I've assigned a URL to each button in my XML document under the name "URLREF" (because flash would assume URL wasn't an identifier.How can I tell flash (Using CS3 and AS2) to read the URLREF values for each button, and then tell it to open those URLs in a new window when their buttons are clicked? (note - The getURL should, as far as I'm aware, be in the function "released," where my "tooltext" trace is.)Here's my actionscript: (and XML a little further down.)
import mx.utils.Delegate;
var numOfItems:Number; var radiusX:Number = 300;[code]................
I know that there are alot of posts about loading external swf or links into the carousel. However the problem i am havng is when i click on a carousel icon it returns with an error in the output window saying;
now obviously this looks like a file path problem, but i have tried to fix this and it still returns the same message. I have also looked at how i called the xml file back and it seem to be ok.
Within my movieclip WinLose I'm getting an error for a movieclip on stage called mcRestart. When it's pressed it's suppose to trigger function Restart. But for some reason, it's giving me the: "TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::Stage@4f4ff99 to flash.display.MovieClip. at WinLose/frame1()"
For some reason, the same code works now, without any problem at all. I don't know what happened, or why, but I no longer have this problem Here's the original post: To put simply, I created a MovieClip, put it with addChild() to stage, and when I tried to call this piece of code:

I'm trying to load a SWF movie into a target movieclip called blankmc. The SWF movie is loaded from an absolute URL (eg. [URL]/img/20042005113934movie3.swf ) My Loading Progress code fails to detect the SWF file size. However the same code works perfectly for a JPG! Essentially the .getBytesLoaded() and .getBytesTotal fail to work. Why is this and how can I get it to work for loading SWFs?
I have a movieClip called "mcUnitedStates" inside another mother movieClip.
I have two instances of the mother movieClip. One entitled "mcWorldMapTop" on its own layer and the other entitled "mcWorldMapBottom" on its own layer.
I thought having two instances of the same movieClip and applying different filters to the mcUnitedStates movieClip in each.
Error I get is: Access of unidentified property mcWorldMapBottom
I'm doing this because the colorTransform is making the glow the same color as the colorTransform instead of the color I want the glow to be.
Im making a movie with a menu that loads movie clips according to which menu is selected simple enough. However, the newly loaded movie clip also needs to allow the user to load another movie into the main movie effectively swapping the first movie clip with the second. This needs to be done without using the main menu.
ok now i have a variable "URL" [URL] (or something like that - it works anyway) and a search box replaces the url and places it in the url as appropriate Error opening URL "[URL]" now if someone types "hello" and submit, it looks for "[URL]" but if the image isnt in the folder it will come up as Error opening URL "[URL] in the OUTPUT box now is their any way at all to say in the actionscript (the image searched wasnt in our database please try again) i know its a default message flash comes up with but is their a quick way to use this default error to make an "error movieclip" visible?
i am having a main.swf which has a movieclip in the form of a window. it's instance name is window_mc. this window has an empty movieclip called load_mc and i am trying to load another swf called login.swf into window_mc.load_mc using
window_mc.load_mc.loadMovie("login.swf");
both main and login swfs are having resolution 1000x780.. but wen it is loaded as said above, the texts inside the loaded swf looks very large. the resolution looks as if they are different.. i haven't tried loading movieclips much. but wen i load a swf into an empty movieclip, it wrks perfectly fine...
I am facing a problem while loading an swf into an mxml application. I have loaded a swf file into my flex application using SWFLoader as below<mx:SWFLoader id="s1" source="dummy.swf" /> This SWF is created using Macromedia Flash 8 instead of Flex. I want to control this externally loaded swf.I am exposing an interface created to control this swf! What i am doing is using System Manager class as follows: public var mySWF:SystemManager;private function initApp():void {mySWF = SystemManager(myLoader.content);} However i am getting the following error: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::AVM1Movie@206ed41 to mx.managers.SystemManager. Is there any solution to this?
I am busy on my website with AS3. In one of the pages, I call a swf. In the called swf, by clicking a button, another swf (a movie player) is called. Now, when I publish it in Flash, it works well, but when I upload it on my host, the first and then the second swf are uploaded, but the second one doesn't bring the movie on its screen an I see only its skin.I have tried Security.allowDomain("url..."), but as I said, it works only when I publish it in Flash on my computer.
I can get the movieclips into the container movieclip, but they're supposed to float around within the boundaries of container movieclip.Unfortunatly they just float off stage...I THINK THE IMPORTANT PART IS AT THE END OF THE SCRIPT IN THE ON ENTER FRAME HANDLER [code]
Currently I have a MovieClip that when you roll-over it a hover menu pops up. But I also needing to have that same MovieClip when rolled=over load another external SWF inside an empty movie clip.
hey im trying to make a mp3 player and when u click on a play btn it plays that song. but i keep getting this output error "Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error. at slide_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()" this is my code
ActionScript Code: import fl.transitions.Tween; import fl.transitions.easing.*; var slidebind:Rectangle = new Rectangle(3, 3, 159, 0); var loadsnd:URLRequest = new URLRequest ("s1.mp3"); var thissnd:Sound = new Sound();
I'm working on improving the media player for my portfolio (www.robin.astedt.name) and I've run into a wall..
The problem I get is that I can play songs and pause them and resume etc, but when I want to select another song and play it I get an error. It works if I initiate the Sound (s) and SoundChannel (sc) variables in the musicPlay(); function but then I can't pause because I need it to be initiated twice that way which ofcourse also gives me an error.
Here's the error I get when I play another song:
Code: Error: Error #2037: Functions called in incorrect sequence, or earlier call was unsuccessful. at flash.media::Sound/_load() at flash.media::Sound/load()
I experienced the following error when loading xml using AS3. All I did was to remove "</xml>" from my xml.
TypeError: Error #1088: The markup in the document following the root element must be well-formed. at toffees_fla::MainTimeline/onLoaded() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent() at flash.net::URLLoader/onComplete()
This is my AS3 code: var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); xmlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaded); var xmlData:XML; function onLoaded(e:Event):void { xmlData=new XML(e.target.data); trace(xmlData); [Code] .....
I'm asking many questions these days but its really urgent
I am doing an application to load xml file into data grid and everything is done now. The only thing left is that i wanna make sure that if the xml file isn't there, the user will not have a runtime error.I have the following code to load the file.
var myXML:XML = new XML();var XML_URL:String = "questions.xml"; var myXMLURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest(XML_URL);var myLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(myXMLURL); myLoader.addEventListener("complete", xmlLoaded);
i tried many ways i found on the net using try and catch but didnt work. Anyone can write me the peice of code to hande this error if the file is not there??
I am trying to load a sound in an mp3 player based on the selection of a user whohas the .swf embedded in a web page. The first time the user makes a selectionthe selection loads with no problem. But if the user stops the sound or lets it playto the end and starts it again, I have to be careful not to callsound.load(URLRequest)again.If the user has chosen another selection to listen to, then load() has to be called again.The question is:how do I unload the sound Obj so another mp3 file can be loaded into it and played?I would think that load(another URLRequest) would overwrite the first and not complain.( a deeper question is where is the sound file stored, by the browser -- in the case ofhtml embed-- or does the Flash plugin maintain its own cache?)
I'm having an error while loading an mp3 player, here is what I getting when hitting Ctrl+Enter.
TypeError: Error #1090: XML parser failure: element is malformed. at moviesound_fla::MainTimeline/getsongs() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction()
[Code].....
There are only two buttons which is previous (b_btn) and next (n_btn)
Is there any errors on this action script or it may only work after placed it on a webpage?
I've got a few container SWF's that I"m trying to load a navigation and a content area into. Very simple, nothing fancy about the code -
ActionScript Code: var bodyLoader:Loader = new Loader(); var bodyRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("./sub/games.swf");
[Code]....
And when I run it, I get the following error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
But the confusing thing is that I saved this from the same file that works PERFECTLY with the './sub/intro.swf' file, throwing no errors ... all I did is change the file name.
