ActionScript 2.0 :: Having An Action Based On Date?
Dec 13, 2005
I was wondering if there's a way of having an action based on the date. I have looked on the forums for a while and have found a good bit of information regarding specific time like hours and minutes. However I was wondering if there was a way of saying "if the date is = to December 14 2005 then load this movie"
If I wanted to change an action from a button click to a frame-based action, what do I use instead of onPress? The hints from the AS editor are all click-based.
I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to display a specific image based on the current date? for example, say I have something for sale 7 seven days, and I want to create an animation of images with numbers, countdown from 7 to 1, and have it stop on the number of days left.
The only place i've seen something like this is here
on the right side, just above the dark grey bar, a little calendar flash loads in and animates.
I need to set a chart to start at midnight of the current day and end just before midnight of the next day I'm trying to do something like this:minChartDate = currentDate.fullYear,currentDate.month,currentDate.date,0,0,0,0;
where currentDate:Date; is the day currently selected. I'm getting an implicit coercion error between the Number to Date type, as if currentDate.fullYear is a Date, but according to the documentation it should be a number. Or is my syntax defining this incorrect? Also wondering if there's a simpler way to get the min and max dates than this (the reason I am setting this is so that it starts at midnight rather than at the first data point in the series).
I'm also getting a weird error 'maximum' values of type Date cannot be represented in text.. it said I need a Date type object for the minimum and maximum so I'm really not sure what it's talking about...
how to get some text to change based on the date of the users pc.What I am trying to do is when the swf file is opened a header section displays a different quote for each day of the year.The list of quotes will be stored in the AS3 and not pulled from an external file.I have worked how to dtermine the current date. The bit I can't seem to get my head around is if I give each quote a variable reference how do get quote 54 to be displayed on the 54th day of the year?
how to use actionscript to load 1 external swf into a mc for everyday throughout a year. I want to make 365 independent swf files that load in into a particular mc based on the current date. And it'll call it based on the users system clock. Can it be done?
i using an XML driven gallery(Scotty*) and what i would like to do is add a button thats actions update with each picture to open a specific external link either another web page or just a larger version of an image. i have done my best to sift my way thru the epic tut on XML here on Kirupa but i just cant seem to nail down what i need to add or where to add it to make this happen.my supsicions are that it needs to be updated on the load image function some how as i also want the text for the button to be specific for each item ( " launch project " , " open lg image " ,etc. )and as far as the button action itself could there just be a simple function that could be made that would dynamically seek out the XML for the current item's URL?
I am trying to get a button to take an action based on the selected value in a combobox. I have a movieclip named sound_mc that has named keyframes. I have a combobox named arrival that has values that match the named keyframes in sound_mc. Does this make sense? It is not working.. Am I missing something obvious?
How would I load external images based on dates? The intent is to automate loading of date-specific clipart to a container. An example would be arrival of Spring (3/20) would load the sun.wmf.
I have a Health Tips flash animation that i want to show one tip every day.I created an xml with 365 items one for each day. Now i want to link my flash with xml in order to get the correct tip for the specific day.I created the XML using two methods.. which one do you think is the best?
<data> <Tip date="28/03/2012" title="Start your day with breakfast." description="Breakfast fills your empty tank to get you going after a long night without food. "/>[code]....
I need to code my flash movie to get it working, but unfortunately don't know how.I started with some basic stuff:
I'm currently working in Flash mx 2004 and am creating a version of 'what happened in history today'. So my final layout will have the following iobjects.
Heading: 'current date' Title: 'On this day in History' Text box: Which displays the right description from a text file. history.txt Image box: which displays a pic related to the current date.
I know basic Flash but have been playing around for ages am having real trouble getting things to work correctly. The main priority is to get the text loaded based on the current date. I have an images folderwhere the pictures are stored with files names related to date i.e. 14feb.jpg and my history.txt file is set out with a line for each date. i.e., 14feb=Valentines Day etc.
I want to display images based on the date. Then it changes to the next one. For example for March it would be picture: img01.jpg and for April I would like the flash movie to automatically load the next picture: img02.jpg.
so here's what I'd like to do. I'd like to create an action that, when it's a specific day, a dynamic textbox displays a specific text. In other words, if today is th 24th of December then I'd like the dynamic textbox to say "merry christmas" or something like that...HOWEVER I need to set this actionscript up so that it reads 8 different days and the dynamic textbox holds 8 different values. How do I do this? I'm having a LOT of trouble with this..and I'm on a deadline
Ok, so here's what I'd like to do. I'd like to create an action that, when it's a specific day, a dynamic textbox displays a specific text. How do I do this? I'm having a LOT of trouble with this..and I'm on a deadline, so if anyone has advice PLEASE let me know!
I'm currently working on an action adventure game and have run into some issues. I am using flash CS4 and AS3. On the stage I have created a user input text field with the instance name of textbox and a button with the instance name of btn. I'm trying to set it up so that when the user types in a word that word is cross referenced with an array and a function is run. I have noticed that some times the functions are not run in the order there typed. For example if I type "enterdoor. lookaround." Than the following is traced.
" you have entered the door. . you are looking around, but don't see anything. . "
Which is good but if I reverse the order and type "lookaround. enterdoor." then I receive the following.
"you are looking around, but don't see anything. . . you have entered the door. "
Also if I were to type "gobacklookaroundenterdoor" then the following is displayed.
"go back you have entered the door. you are looking around, but don't see anything."
Notice that the function "enterdoor" is run before "lookaround" even thou "lookaround" was typed first. Also if I were to type "enterdoorlookaround enterdoorlookaround" then the following is displayed.
"you have entered the door. you are looking around, but don't see anything. you are looking around, but don't see anything. you have entered the door. "
I cant seem to figure out why the functions are not run in the order they are typed by the user. Not sure if this helps but I have determined that if a function is typed 3 times or more then it only returns the function twice. For instance if I were to input "enterdoorenterdoorenterdoor" then the following is displayed.
"you have entered the door. you have entered the door. "
I would also like for the user to have the option of typing a function as many times in a row as needed. It seems to me that I'm missing some thing simple. I was thinking if I change the commands "array" to an "associative array" it might process the functions in the correct order. It seems to me that the commands array is being compared to the inputholder array.
Today is 28-05-2010, so I need to list Event 01. On 01-06-2010 I need to list Event 02. I have the basic AS3 code for listing the XML working, but I'm having trouble filtering the result.
I'm trying build a simple band site using flash and as2. All I want to have is a page listing shows that sorts them according to date and also when the show date has passed drops that entry from view.I can do this easily enough with a database and php but want to learn how to do it in actionscript. Here is what I currently have, shows load from the xml file into a simple textbox:
Code: scrollBar.target = shows_txt; showsXML = new XML();
I'm using flash CS4 and actionscript 2.0. I have a situation where I need to locate and check the date of an external file (either .exe or .swf) and return that date string to a variable in flash. I then need to display that date to a piece of dynamic text within the flash file. Is there a function within action script that will check and retrieve the file date of an external file.
my date of string like (2009-12-03 21:05:00) date with time . so i used to store var newdate:Date=new Date(Date.parse(startdate)); but shows some errors.and also i tried to split string(date) used date function likevar datenumber:Number= (new Date(Date.parse(startdate))).getDate();
Does anyone know how to get actionscript to render a null date value '000:00:00T00:00:00'? I am calling a web service that expects date fields in the SOAP xml. I need some of these dates to serialize as null and I can't see how to produce null. The closest value I can get is '1899-11-30T00:00:00Z'. Below is the code I am using:
I'm trying to determine the difference in time between todays date and a future date. I only need to determine how many months and days it is between todays date and this future date. Anyone know of any prebaked scripts anywhere for determining what todays date is and subtracting it from the end date would be? [code]So if today's date is less then the end date I'd like to determine how many months and days are left until the end date is reached and display the number of months and days until that end date.
I'm trying to get a random date in a date range and this is what i have so far but it doesnt seem to be working ? Where I'm I Going wrong ?Gets the date difference
private function differenceBetweenDates(date1:Date, date2:Date):Number{ var MS_PER_DAY:uint = 1000 * 60 * 60 * 24;[code]..........
I have an mx:DateField in my Flex UI that has a formatString="dd.mm.yyyy" attached to it. However, the initial value for that field may not be in the format specified/defined for the DateField (due to legacy reasons). So, currently, if I just set that value (text) on the DateField, the field is shown empty. I think because it fails to accept the value in a format different than what's configured.
I have 2 DateFields named startDate and endDate I want to set startDate's Selected date to Current months start date and endDate's Selected date to Current months End date.
