ActionScript 2.0 :: Interactive Panning Movie Clip / Website?

I am looking to create a site (or part of a site) that is similar to the following links (which both contain panning movie clips with interactive elements within them). One of the keys to this is that it does not pan until you get to the extreme left or right portion of the screen, so that folks can have an effortless (and un-annoying) experience. Anyways...I have done a TON of research online and have found some stuff, but nothing that has really fit what I'm looking for. No more rambling. just wanted to get some second opinions on something before I dive into a project.I would like to use the same effect executed in this website: http:[url]....how to go about doing that. I have a few ideas but am quite intermediate when it comes to code, so I was trying to search for some help topics and tutorials that might spark something.But I can't figure out what this sort of method is called! Where all the content slides like that as you click on different parts of the navigation.
* I should add that I am more proficient in AS2 but wouldn't mind learning how to do this in AS3.

I've been looking for a Flash component/tutorial I can use to make an interactive map. Now I've found the tutorial Interactive Image Panning here at Kirupa.
In that tut you go with the mouse to the right, and the image floats to the left...but here's the problem/question: I also want to get the image float to the bottom/top, when the mouse goes to top/bottom...
Just downloaded the interactive image panning fla and am using the code to move swatches that are buttons...
it works only problem is that once a button is clicked it still pans the buttons around as it is a onMouseMove function.This can confuse the user as they may think it has not been clicked.So what i want is for that panning to stop once one of the panning buttons is clicked.yet still have that panning function if the original button clicked is the wrong one and the user wants to scroll through them again.
I'm kinda new in flash and as3 so this may not be as difficult as it looks right now.I've been trying to figure out how I can pan an image in flash (x and y). I have a movieclip and I want the user only to see a small part as he's panning with the mouse.
i have a problem with Interactive Image Panning & Alpha Channel Masking. without panning codes masking is working but with panning i can't see my masked area. code is below and icant find where i am wrong or what i am missing

I have an interactive movieclip called "AS2Clip" which was programmed in AS2. So when this movieclip is loaded within an AS3 application, does the AS2 native code still functions as it would if it was loaded within an AS2 Application?
Just finished building my photography portfolio www.tonerayphotography.co.uk in Flash CS3 using some Action script 2. When I first uploaded the site in Firefox 3.5 the menu buttons were `stuck` and there was a delay of about 30 secs before I could use them. Once I finally got use of the menu buttons I later returned to the site and it worked perfectly. Is this because the site was now in the cache of Firefox?
On my stage timeline there is one navigation movie clip holding aboutl 50 of my photos. Is this delay due the size of this movie clip trying to load?
I'm having the following problem. The menu movie clip on my website keeps blinking when I publish on the web. I don't have that problem when I'm testing on the CS4 flash player. I've gone over the code to check for something funny but everything looks good. May be this looks familiar to somebody. Here is the url.
I followed a tutorial to have a movie clip work as an animated menu for a website. One of the functions is set up as follows:
function do_this() { this.gotoAndPlay("frame label"); gotoAndPlay("frame label"); }
So the animated menu is going to a specific frame in the movie clip while the site is going to the appropriate page. What I can't figure out is how to freeze the menu in the state that it goes to with this function so that it doesn't revert back once the mouse rolls out of the hit area. Does anyone know how to resolve this?
the preceding works exactly as i want it to.. the catch is, it only does so in it's own swf.. meaning, i want to use it as an external swf embedded in another movie... when it's on it's own, the panning will stop if the edge of mc hits the border, when it's called externally the panning won't stop!
i feel like i've tried everything i can (obviously not!).. where you see 521 and 315 there WAS Stage.width/height and that code was on the external swf itself, in an attempt to stop the panning when it should i tried putting the code in the parent movie and changing some variables, which worked the same with no avail.
here's a link if my babbling wasn't clear enough: [URL] also.. i would like for it to pan only if the mouse moves over the panning clip, it currently pans based on where the mouse is over the parent movie.. i've made multiple attempts at changing this as well, with no luck.
I am building a flash based website and have a large rectangle mc that I am panning left to right that has buttons nested inside. I followed the kirupa tutorial called "interactive image panning" and everything seems to be working fine. My problem is this. I want this panned mc to be centered and framed by a black border that will also act as a mask hiding the ends of the rectangle that have not yet been panned to. When I add this black border the code thinks the stage dimensions are larger and the panning gets whacky. How can I contain this panned mc so it doesn't react to a change in the stage dimensions. it also does this when I open the published HTML in the browser. I basically want it to behave like the sample image on the first page of the "interactive image panning tutorial". There must be an easy solution.
I would like to build an interactive tamagotchi to have @ my website. U know any tutorials up for this?
Or maybe a tutorial or code for how I can make a object change by time in flash. And go back to previous frame if you click an button or something (feed it)
I am looking to design and add an interactive flash part to our company's website. Since we do a lot of business planning and consulting, we have come up with a great idea, but unfortunately, none of us really know how to create it. Basically from what I have researched, I will need to incorporate animated buttons in a flash movie. I have attached a quick sketch of what the website will look like. The part I need to work with is the middle section with the boxes.
What I need to do is this: The 5 gray boxes need to be buttons that link to their related pages. When the page loads, I want the animation to draw the first box, create the line, draw the second box, draw the next line, etc. until all the boxes and lines are drawn. This is a process map and since we do a lot of these for our work, we thought it would be nice for us to incorporate this into our website. Furthermore, it would be ideal if these boxes were links to different pages on the site as well.
So my question is this: -What do I need to create in order to have this animation work -Where is a good place to start looking in regards to creating something like this -Is this even possible
I am a member of a clan on a popular gaming website. I'd like to make fully interactive flash videos detailing certain game concepts. Is it possible to do this with screenshots (there are some drop down menus) or would I have to remodel the website in Flash?Basically, I'd like to know how to make it so I can tell the user to click a certain link and take a certain step, we've all seen those types of interactive tutorials.
I wish to create an interactive form in FLASH as part of a website. That is the user enters say width and height numbers in boxes and the form returns a price for that size widget. Is this possible in a FLASH based website? If so is there a specific name for this type of form so I know where to look to get help in creating one?

I'm trying to create a simple interactive animation for a website that consists of three rollover areas on a page. When you mouse over an area, a bit of explanatory text is revealed by animating a mask over some text. The text is left displayed until a mouseover of a different area occurs.Let's call the three mouseover targets A, B, and C.A MOUSE_OVER event listener is registered for all three targets. Question: i have to make an animated header for the web site. several seconds it's going on and is stoped with action script command stop(); but i need one elenment inside flash-header continue animating like here: [URL] a rolling logo in upper left corner of header. i want to see if these "build a." flash sites (to support a user customized ordering process) are done using regular flash or Flex?

All of these "walk a user" through a customized ordering process and capture all of their selection and showing them all of their customizations (and ultimately bring them to a final ordering screen). What's going on under the hood on these sites and are built in flash or flex? Is the person creating a separate image for every combination that you could possibly select or is something else happening here?
I still can't figure out if Flex or Flash is better for something like this. (why does adobe make these seemingly basic questions so complicated) Are there any good resource or tutorials for try to build this type of functionality in flash on a website?
what im trying to do is make an interactive webssite 100% out of flash.on one of the pages in that website i would like to have one of my custom youtube players that youtube lets you make and gives you an embed code for.problem is that it is an HTML embed code.ive tried everything to get this to work and the best i could do was get the player to work in an independant .swf file but whenever i try to incorporate it into a page in my website and load it in a browser i get a security error saying that i cant let flash access youtube and i have tried everyway on google to get around that with no luck.

I am pretty new to ActionScript 3 and Flash. I don't want my movie clip to play unless the person's mouse curser is on the movie clip for more than a second. If the person just runs their curser over the movie clips really quickly, then it should do nothing. It must be more than a second. How do I code that?
I'm creating a small drag & drop activity, and I want to be able to check and see if the dragged movie clip is completely within the bounds of another movie clip (or at least in the bounds of a certain x/y zone on the main stage. I can't use dropTest because it returns true if any tiny bit of the movie clip overlaps with the dropTest movie clip.
I also thought of something that just checks the x/y coordinates of the dragged movie clip, but I'd need this to reflect a range of values rather than one coordinate. For instance, I'd want to return true if the movie clip's x is between 50-60 AND the y is between 50-60. I'm attaching a small graphic to illustrate in case my explanation isn't clear enough [URL]
