Apr 21, 2005I am building a time/date line and I have a slider that displays information when you slide over certain points on the line. I woud like the slider to start at the correct month when the movie starts. So I expect this would involve flash calling the date from the users pc and starting the slider at a pre determined position on the stage for that month.

Jul 29, 2011I have a movieclip which has 3 frames inside it. These each have a movie clip on them which is different. There are three frames on the above layer. The first two have code on them which check the date and time and then skips to the next frame if a specified date is reached. The final frame is just a stop as its the final option. So Its works great in as2 but I am trying to rebuild in AS3. I think I am nearly there but since you cant have two of the same function its throwing a wobbler - also when I rename the 2nd function (on the 2nd frame) it wont compile correctly throwing all sorts of errors.

ActionScript 2.0 :: CS3 News Ticker XML To Load Four Time - Copy Text - An Image - Date And A URL
Mar 2, 2010I'm making a very simple news ticker that uses XML to load four items: copy text, an image, date and a URL. The script was pieced together from tutorials and a bit of self-teaching, so I know it's probably not great. The AS is pasted below. Everything loads just fine, but the button script returns an "undefined" error. I assume this is because the item is no longer found in the array, but I'm not entirely sure. I also think it may be that the loadMovie method isn't working well with a specific item in the array. Also the link does not work. *Note* I know there are probably more advanced ways to tackle this but I'd like to keep this at my learning level so I can grow with it. :-)

Apr 10, 2002I have this code on my MC. I just want to know if what i'm getting is correct. I have this to get the date, day, month, year...you know the drill, but i can only get the complete date to display if I use onClipEvent(load). (enterFrame) won't work, and i just wanted to make sure there was a reason behind it. Is it because I'm using arrays? check out the code. I do not want to majorly change the code if it can be avoided...

May 28, 2010I have a XML file with a few concert dates. In my flash/AS3 file, I would like to show only the up coming event, relative to current date. Like this:
Event 01: 30-05-2010
Event 02: 02-06-2010
Event 03: 05-06-2010
Today is 28-05-2010, so I need to list Event 01. On 01-06-2010 I need to list Event 02. I have the basic AS3 code for listing the XML working, but I'm having trouble filtering the result.

Display Value In Date Field Irrespective Of Date Format?
Sep 21, 2011I have an mx:DateField in my Flex UI that has a formatString="dd.mm.yyyy" attached to it. However, the initial value for that field may not be in the format specified/defined for the DateField (due to legacy reasons). So, currently, if I just set that value (text) on the DateField, the field is shown empty. I think because it fails to accept the value in a format different than what's configured.

and I want to be able to change this dynamically to the next date.like you had currentDate +1. The reason for this is the user selects this date but I want another field to display the next date after this.I thought about using the date object to take care of this for me but I'm not sure that will work.If I pass the date object this format it returns.

I could start stripping out the currentDate and adding in lots of if statements for the month year and date and figuring out leap years but I thought the date object could solve all this.

Sep 29, 2009I am experiencing a very strange behavoiour of Flex Date object. My web service is written in .Net 3.5 and all object which I am retriving or updating have Creation Date (Date Type) in .Net code.
But when I am calling .Net web service and displaying data in Flex, Flex displaying a different Date than what stored in web service. When I update my object using Flex UI, every time update time is very different than actual update time set by .Net code.

The time set in AS is new Date(2009,11,19,10,35,50); and then I find it has the value of 2009-12-19T10:35:50.000-0500 in the Java object.
