I am building a time/date line and I have a slider that displays information when you slide over certain points on the line. I woud like the slider to start at the correct month when the movie starts. So I expect this would involve flash calling the date from the users pc and starting the slider at a pre determined position on the stage for that month.

For example i want to know a given day (11-12-2009) is among the start and end date of a given range (11-01-2009 to 11-20-2009).

Okay I have a script in which I have added an image to the stage. It is absolute centered. I then have another with is on top but much bigger. I would like the big image to move opposite of my mouse position on the smaller image. ie: cursor is on bottom left corner the bottom left corner of the larger image is in the same spot. And the same thing for any other area.
I have tried many different ways but to no avail. I have done research but no one has been able to give me a solid answer. Anyone know of a way to accomplish this. Keep in mind this it needs to work regardless of the image size.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to make a movieclip move slower at a certent place in my movieclip. This means, that the speed needs to be lowered when e.g. showing af picture. Here is the situation. I have a movieclip running different pictures. E.g. the first runs for 115frames and fades out. Instead of runing 115 frames i want the movieclip to run 5 frames (picture fading in) and the stops or delays for 10sek and then goes to frame 6 from where the picture fades out. Where in the movieclip should i place this Action Script?

I have a MovieClip called FloorStatusChanges and within it are two MovieClips called Floors and StatusChanges.The MC called Floors contains Three wireframe-looking floors(each floor has it's own MC).The MC called StatusChanges contains three buttons that have the Instance Names of FirstFloorButton, SecondFloorButton, and ThirdFloorButton.Within the FloorStatusChanges MC, I've set up a motion tween for these wireframe-looking floors to move into and out of the stage so that upon clicking one of the buttons in StatusChanges it would, in theory, cause this motion tween to happen. It has stop(); commands between every motion:Within the StatusChanges MC, there are 4 layers. 3 are for each button consecutively and 1 for the Actionscript. I have a movieclip which has 3 frames inside it. These each have a movie clip on them which is different. There are three frames on the above layer. The first two have code on them which check the date and time and then skips to the next frame if a specified date is reached. The final frame is just a stop as its the final option. So Its works great in as2 but I am trying to rebuild in AS3. I think I am nearly there but since you cant have two of the same function its throwing a wobbler - also when I rename the 2nd function (on the 2nd frame) it wont compile correctly throwing all sorts of errors.

I have a XML file with a few concert dates. In my flash/AS3 file, I would like to show only the up coming event, relative to current date. Like this:
Event 01: 30-05-2010
Event 02: 02-06-2010
Event 03: 05-06-2010
Today is 28-05-2010, so I need to list Event 01. On 01-06-2010 I need to list Event 02. I have the basic AS3 code for listing the XML working, but I'm having trouble filtering the result.
I'm trying build a simple band site using flash and as2. All I want to have is a page listing shows that sorts them according to date and also when the show date has passed drops that entry from view.I can do this easily enough with a database and php but want to learn how to do it in actionscript. I'm using flash CS4 and actionscript 2.0. I have a situation where I need to locate and check the date of an external file (either .exe or .swf) and return that date string to a variable in flash. I then need to display that date to a piece of dynamic text within the flash file. Is there a function within action script that will check and retrieve the file date of an external file.

I have an mx:DateField in my Flex UI that has a formatString="dd.mm.yyyy" attached to it. However, the initial value for that field may not be in the format specified/defined for the DateField (due to legacy reasons). So, currently, if I just set that value (text) on the DateField, the field is shown empty. I think because it fails to accept the value in a format different than what's configured.

I am experiencing a very strange behavoiour of Flex Date object. My web service is written in .Net 3.5 and all object which I am retriving or updating have Creation Date (Date Type) in .Net code.
But when I am calling .Net web service and displaying data in Flex, Flex displaying a different Date than what stored in web service. When I update my object using Flex UI, every time update time is very different than actual update time set by .Net code.
