ActionScript 2.0 :: Sen's XML Portfolio -how To Make Page No's

I've been through Senoculars XML tutorial which can be found here and went further to read another thread (here ). about extending the Portfolio to allow for more thumbs--implementing a scrollbar-to Scotty This brings me to my questionQ: How can I do away with any scrolling and implement page numbers instead? So users could click the page numbers to go to the next lot of thumbnails in the section instead of scrolling up and down. The image below illustrates what im trying to achieve. As you can see I would like it to show current page, and overflow for page numbers that wont fit within the area dictated on the stage (rather like how threads work in this forum)

There was a post about a month ago about page numbering what i THINK was senocular's xml portfolio. with the recent loss of some posts, this was wiped out as well. does anyone have it archived anywhere or does anyone have the file that was being passed around in that post?

I'm working on building a personal portfolio site right now. I wanted to add a scroll feature to one the pages. I wasn't sure how to build it, so I down loaded one off here [URL] and just plugged my own graphics into it. It scrolls up and down just fine, but when I try to put a mask over it, it doesn't work. In the content the author wrote for his movie he says "Note: If you want to have a mask over the content: copy MC:frame and make it a mask for MC:Page. If you do so, notice that "non-anti-alias text" is not possible anymore. This is a common thing in a Flash Movie. I keep trying that and it just blocks everything out all together. So what am I doing wrong?

i am making a flash portfolio and am working on the "work" page.i have a bunch of links.i would like each link to open up a seperate window containing a graphic that is already in the library.so basically, what is the script to link to a graphic already in the library and have it open in a seperate window.(i just said the same thing twice.....)and also, is there any way to customize these pop up windows?

I am creating a site, and I have this navigation system inside the portfolio page. But it is not working. So it is like this it is built. Default.fla is loading portfolio.fla inside a movie clip loader. and the portfolio.fla has a navigation system for different portfolio pieces. I have set up the first one to work (dasa design). so, I need the outro to play of hm1.fla (first file loaded) and then play the intro of the Dasadesign file. I know this has something to do with the depth and so, but I have tried many ways but not succeeded. files are found here! [URL]

I've been working on my first full blown flash site for a few weeks, tackling problems as I encounter them, and I've learned a lot...but sometimes the simplest things I cannot figure out for the life of me. All I am trying to do is have some flash banner SWF files play within the portfolio page of my site. I don't want them to open in a pop up or anything just play within the page when the link on my site is clicked. I figured it would act like a movie clip and I could just drop it onto the stage, but when I do that it doesn't look right, loops continuously, and is not interactive. How can I make this work?

I'm new to this CS4 world and I can't make my buttons work...I'm trying to make a portfolio. I have a button created named "books". I created a new layer just to insert the AS of that button and to stop the movie clip...the button is inside that movieclip.

EDIT I took off the ":void" part and the compiler doesnt show me any errors. But still it doesn't go to the "design" frame.

I'm trying to make a portfolio. Nested in the mc portfolio are 15 other mc's. site_01, site_02, site_03 etc. When the portfolio button is pressed mc_portfolio is going to frame 2, where the 15 mc's are located. But I don't want them to appear all at ones! I want them to appear with let's say .5 of a seccond pause in between each mc.

i want to make a new portfolio site in flash... i was thinking on using as much server-side scripting as possible, to make in easier to update and add some features like flash guestbook/mail form and some other stuff... I was wondering... is it possible using php and mysql to add content to the portfolio without modifying the flash itself? Is there a tutorial regarding this? WHat i want, exactly is to be able to add photos, sites, prints and other stuff to my portfolio like i would add a post to this forum... the title being the title, the message being the description of the project and the pic i can attach being the photo itself..

ive been attempting to make a portfolio of my music and art in flash which is basically just 4 scenes that have buttons at the edges which i want to be able to move over and have it animated to look like its scrolling in the direction of the next scene
i broke each screen down into dummy scenes so i could work out problems without ruining a real project and so far (with this forums help) ive been able to create a music screen with on/off buttons and clickable thumbnails for the art screen etc etc so far so good...i even managed to get the buttons working with 3 different 'entry' animations depending on which scene it came from
so yesterday i decided to make the proper project starting with the navigation structure and space for 3 entry anims per scene...i thought i had made everything the same as before but nothing happens when i publish it...the buttons dont work at all
here is the link to the project 'main002' (dummy animations atm) and my previous working dummy nav test as well as a word document showing how its supposed to work (although ive slightly changed the order of the screens now)[URL]..can anyone tell me why its not working but did on the previous test?

My basic aim is to create a newspaper that consists of four pages. Each page i have created and are sitting in the library as sprites. Each page has buttons that need linking so that when pressed it loads the next page or page that i want. This is the part i am confused with =/ how do i make the buttons on each page load the next page (sprite) from the library??

So I am doing a flash intro page, but the intro becomes the home page, as in all the pieces come together to create the Flash home page, so that there is just one file for the home page that includes the intro from Flash..how do I make it so that all the parts on the page stay there indefinitely, because right now after a certain amount of time, they disappear due to using the timeline in Flash.

i'm trying to build a flash site and ran into a problem... i have a gallery page with a bunch of page numbers at the top. when you click on one, a movieclip loads of some images coming in.so the problem i'm having is that i made a little animation for when you roll the mouse over the page number (they scale up when the mouse is over, scale back when the cursor moves away)... what it's doing is when you roll over, it goes to a certain frame in the timeline and plays that animation.that's all working cool, but i need it to not do that once it's clicked on. so basically when you actually click on a page number, the over script should stop until you go to another page... here's the code i've written,

I am very new to Flash and would like to find some way to have a movie expand from the page and open larger. I have tried having it open in another window, but that looks cheezy. It would be great to have it sitting in the page (right now it is 375 X 280) and then when someone clicks on the video it opens, without any borders, just viewer, to 900 X 675. I have looked online at various players, but none do anything like this. There has to be a way to make this happen. Right now I am using Dreamweaver CS3 and just using the embed player that is part of Dreamweaver.

I really wish Flash and Photoshop would make possible a grid system like 3D apps so the center of any page would be: X:0 and Y: 0, then when placing graphics you could just type in X:0 and Y:0 and the graphic would be placed in the center of the stage.

I have an AS2 site where all the pages are different lenghts and have navigation at the top and the bottom.
When you click on the bottom navigation on one of the longer pages in order to get to another shorter page, you land on the same place where the bottom navigation was on the page before; ie you land at the bottom of the page.
How can I get around this so that every time you land on a new page it has scrolled to the top?

I have managed to create some buttons movie clips and understand how to link pages. The only question i have is how do you make the button/link for the current page highlight so the user can know what page they are on? Is there a way to have a current page indicator in flash as you can do with html/css?

I made the this tutorialhttp:[url]....and align the movie clip instance to the stage.The problem is when I test the movie the picture is loaded like the movie clip instance is the top left "insertion point" so the picture is not centered. How can I fix this to make the picture aligned in the page?

scroll wheel works fine on screens where webpage has no scroll bar. On a 1024x768 res screen the webpage with map requires scroll bars at side, design beyond my control. This situation will no doubt occur regularly so ...What needs changing to make it such that maps zooms when cursor over map, )page doesnt scroll) and page scrolls and map doesnt zoom when cursor off the map ?scroll zoom code is in blue, I left in the entire code.

I am not the best coder out there so I'm not really sure where to start. I am hoping this is already done and avaliable somewhere from the get go. When I am trying to do is I have around 200 books that I have to take from a .pdf file to flash document and eventually I guess a .swf file. As of now, I have taken the .pdf files into InDesign with a placing script and exported it to a flash document. From there I added a Previous and Next button that basically just stops the play and allows me to cycle through the frames. The only thing that I need now is I want some sort of page curling transition much like the one in InDesign one. I tried adding the transitions before I exported to flash, but it does not keep it. The reason I want to keep it in flash and not use one of the ones where u just upload your .pdf into and it converts it for you is because we might want to add more features later. Therefore I have to write some sort of system for page curling.

I had posted a post earlyer asking how to make this, this is just clarifying things. So to start off one question was, what do i mean by scroll box, the slider bar like the thing to your right that you can grab and scroll down to see the content on the bottom of your page. and secondly There is no better way for to explain what a paralax scroller is than to show you so bellow is a link to a website that uses it. Now keep in mind what i am trying to do is much much smaller this is an entire website, all i am trying to do is the content on one page. By making it scroll to the right as it is scrolled down and have content on the stage to the right. i appalogize for not explaining myself earlyer hope this helps to explain what i am trying to do.[URL]..
is an advanced thing to do and i just want to get the basic structure down before tackling more advanced things. but what i am trying to do though is as the stage scrolls sideways (rather than verticle like on the web page linked here) to show the extended stage off the the right. Content that was hidden in the bottom slides up to be shown in a tween animation only frame by frame, and what I mean by frame by frame is so if I scoll on the linked page notice how when you see a new picture and the car is blowing up in size, now if you stop scrolling that action will freeze leaving you at exactly the place where you stopped and this is not a normal motion tween ( the site is not a motion tween at all being built in html 5 and not flash) but i have to think there is a way off getting this done like perhapps a Mouse Event listening for a scroll to play a tween animation or even a frame by frame animation and when the mouse is not scrolling the tween or frame by frame stops. and does not keep playing the time line untill it reaches a stop(); function.

I have to stream a webcam video, so I use ustream to do that, which generate a flash embed code for me, and I have a button to turn off/on the light, but when I press the button it refresh the whole page and so the flash component.
There's some way to not refresh the page and still send to command ?

I have a SWF thats over 1000 pixels in height which is embedded in a HTML page, so some people will have to scroll down, and i want to put a 'Go to top' button in the bottom of the SWF which once clicked on makes the browser go to the top of the page.
For AS2 've seen ActionScript Code:
getURL("javascript:window.scroll(newXPos,newYPos)" )
But not sure how to convert that to AS3?
