I have a multipart html form with a file input element and would like to check the size of the selected file before uploading. I can access the file path using the value attribute, however is it possible to pass that path to a swf and have the swf return the file size or is this blocked by the flash sandbox? Are there any existing projects that already do this? I'd like to avoid replacing my file input element with a flash uploader if possible.

But when I preview it as html the arrays are all empty...

When I go to publish my file in html I get an error message: "Error creating SWF movie file. Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long" I've done all of the above and still get the error. I can export the SWF but I need a transparent background so I need the html.

If not I know theres is the load feature where I can load text from a text file. With the html text box editing, Can i link that to the text file?. As in when you edit the text box with html could i have the textbox's instance name equal to the text file? Clarification: I have two text boxes in my flash file.One has current products. And the other is the description of the product they select. I would like a way to edit and change the products in the first text box without having to keep using the FLA file. Which is why i am using this code

I'm trying to work out how to get an input text box, on the click of a btn, to send any text in it to a html page. I can do this in flash by having an input write to a dynamic text box but I'm not having much luck working out how to do this with a html page.
I kind of understand the document.write JavaScript and I'm getting my head round that now but I can't seem to find anything on the JS I need to do the above. Could someone point me in the right direction before my brain goes into over drive.

View 3 RepliesWhile publishing my movies in CS4, I noticed that the javascript required to embed the movie in a web page was published as inline javascript in the published page. This means that code would be downloaded for each page my movie is on. Is it possible to configure Flash CS4 to publish that javascript to a separate .js file, instead of having to manually copy-paste that each time??
If no, I believe that js is independent of the Flash movie (please correct me, if I am wrong). So, can I copy-paste that javascript to an external file just once, and use the js file for all my movies being published??
when I use the Request.InputStream in MVC3 action method to save the file sent by action script I got a corrupted file. When I used firebug to trace the request I realized that the Content-type is "application/x-amf" and has the file name at the end of the stream. knowing that I can't change the action script I need a way to save the file correctly to disk.

However, I would like them to recieve an autoresponder message when they input an email. Although the(my) email to which user's email is sent to has an autoresponder active, my server administrator explained that when an email is recieved, an autoresponder is sent to the form/site and not the user's email address. He said I would require a code to put in my form to facilitate sending the autoresponder to the user who inputs his email in my site.

I noticed that the if statement is constantly failing because the variable is tracing back as HTML.The trace of the variable looks like this:

The problem is that I want the input text field to be a certain width and the length of the code snippet exceeds that length. Is there a way to do it so that the part of the code that goes past the length of what I want my input text field to be is cropped, but is still selectable by the user? View 3 RepliesI have an input box with a variable name. When the user enters some text and presses a button that variable is sent to a php file using the GET method. Then the info is put into a database. When I checked my database, I found that a load of styling html tags has been included. I want for my input text box to have styled text, but I don't want that styling /html tags to be sent to the php file. I know I could use strip_tags in php to get rid of the html tags, but surely there's a way of not sending the tags at all, just the text content of my variable?
