When I go to publish my file in html I get an error message: "Error creating SWF movie file. Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long" I've done all of the above and still get the error. I can export the SWF but I need a transparent background so I need the html.

Also, check that the file name is not too long. It doesn't happen all the time, and I haven't been able to figure out what causes it. I have been able to confirm that it's not anything to do with locked files/drives, permissions, or file name length.
It happens with files created elsewhere (by other developers) that I've modified, and it happens with files I start from scratch - I can create a new FLA on my desktop and it won't publish. Sometimes (but not always), publishing to a different directory than the one the FLA is in will work. This is becoming a big problem. I'm on OS X 10.4.9, 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro 17", running CS3 Web Premium package.

Is there a solution, similar to img data:image/gif;base64..., that allows to embed an swf movie in a HTML page without having to create a new swf file and link it in the src attribute?

I have been trying to get sIFR 3 rev.436 working on my site but I stuck at publishing the movie. I did everything the instruction had told me to but when I published the movie and double clicked it to test, it failed, the movie was blank with the following error. Someone said the Action Scripts should be in the same folder as the sifr.fla, it was but it didn't help at all.

The class or interface 'sIFR' could not be loaded.I was puzzled and after hours of looping in the situation I downloaded rev.432 and tested it out. To my delight, everything turned out right and I published the movie successfully!
can anyone explain when I goto publish my flash file certain graphics and text are disappearing from the swf file?

My problem is that it is causing all sorts of text formatting grief when I try to import my swf into Adobe Captivate. how I can publish a swf without generating a swz? Why on earth has Flash opted to generate this unexpected file in the first place (assuming user error, but can't work out what I've done)?

View 2 RepliesOK I have been racking my brain to get this resolved and unfortunately there isn't a lot of info on the web. Scenario: We are in a shared environment. Central file server (Mac OS X server) over gigabit enet. We open flash files over the network and then we "try" to publish the files back to the same server in which the .fla is stored. (I have read John at Adobe's comments on the practice but this DID work).
So we access the flash file at /Volumes/ServerName/JobFolder/~Flash/ and we "attempt to" publish the .swf to /Volumes/ServerName/JobFolder/htmlfolder/flash .... this was working previously in flash 6-7 but in 8-cs3 it has stopped working and we are kicking ourselves to get some answers. When we try to publish we get the following error: "Error creating Flash movie file. Be sure the destination is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long."

While publishing my movies in CS4, I noticed that the javascript required to embed the movie in a web page was published as inline javascript in the published page. This means that code would be downloaded for each page my movie is on. Is it possible to configure Flash CS4 to publish that javascript to a separate .js file, instead of having to manually copy-paste that each time??
If no, I believe that js is independent of the Flash movie (please correct me, if I am wrong). So, can I copy-paste that javascript to an external file just once, and use the js file for all my movies being published??

Now which is this HTML file ? Is it the index.template.html file per project or the HTML file created per MXML application ?

View 2 RepliesI am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
a:link {text-decoration: none;}
a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.

I'm new to using flash and actionscript, but i'm looking to learn how to make a video or a series of videos play using flash. Where the user has to click on a specific part of the screen to play the next video. I'm using Flash cs3 to do this and again i'm new to this so i don't know how to navigate very well. If anyone could provide me with a tutorial or walkthrough on this that'd be amazing.

If I test each scene separately it runs perfectly, but when I try to run the whole movie it runs for 10 minutes "Exporting SWF Movie" and then stops without any errors or warning and without running project or creating swf file. I am using Adobe Flash Professional cs5.5.

I would like to create a simple template in which:
- the user enters the question and answer data
- the user chooses a filename for their data
- this data is saved to the hard drive in the form of an XML file
- this data can be accessed by a serarate quiz movie
Is this possible?
I dont know whether I press command + enter.... I need to go "file>publish file" to see the result rather than that shortcut

View 2 RepliesI am creating a SWF file using a MXML file. The MXML file define several MX:Button and uses an external stylesheet to style them. There is a problem I am facing at the moment, I am aiming to style the buttons in a way that is similar to the way I can style HTML button elements. However, I could not achieve such look and feel. For example, I could not find a way to define the color and thickness of the borders for each side of the button (top, bottom, left, right), the background color, the margins, the padding, the width, and the height of the button. Also, selector such as hover, active, focus are not available. I was only able to change the size and the font color of the button successfully.
View 2 RepliesInitially I had a 2039 error I resolved this by using a local testing server, which resulted in a 2038 error. So then I hard coded the url and now I dont get any errors but the file doesnt upload.
Instead a file is created (FileUpload.cs) in the directory where the files should be.
Does anyone know what this FileUpload.cs file is?
