I am working through an audio player demonstration in the book "Foundation Actionscript 3.0". When I try to publish my AudioDemo_final.FLA file I get the following error, "Adobe Flash CS3 - Error creating flash movie file. Destination directory does not exist. OK I have been racking my brain to get this resolved and unfortunately there isn't a lot of info on the web. Scenario: We are in a shared environment. Central file server (Mac OS X server) over gigabit enet. We open flash files over the network and then we "try" to publish the files back to the same server in which the .fla is stored. (I have read John at Adobe's comments on the practice but this DID work).
So we access the flash file at /Volumes/ServerName/JobFolder/~Flash/ and we "attempt to" publish the .swf to /Volumes/ServerName/JobFolder/htmlfolder/flash .... this was working previously in flash 6-7 but in 8-cs3 it has stopped working and we are kicking ourselves to get some answers. When we try to publish we get the following error: "Error creating Flash movie file. Be sure the destination is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long."

Since I started using CS3 I sometimes get the following error: Error creating Flash movie file. Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long. It doesn't happen all the time, and I haven't been able to figure out what causes it. I have been able to confirm that it's not anything to do with locked files/drives, permissions, or file name length.
It happens with files created elsewhere (by other developers) that I've modified, and it happens with files I start from scratch - I can create a new FLA on my desktop and it won't publish. Sometimes (but not always), publishing to a different directory than the one the FLA is in will work. This is becoming a big problem. I'm on OS X 10.4.9, 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro 17", running CS3 Web Premium package.

I'm just starting out with my first Adobe Air project (I'm a pure AS3 developer by trade).I'm planning to build an image editor which supports layers. I'm wondering what the best way would be to store an entire project including layer data (images) to a users hard disk.I'm wondering if there is any pros/cons in creating a custom file format for my application. The idea is I will be able to store an entire project in a single file. This will be done by writing meta data to the file's header such as the image dimensions, layer names, layer data offsets etc...I'm trying to be mindful of the issues which might arrise such as maintaining backwards compatibility after adding new project features/meta etc.I guess I'm asking whether people have any advice or experience with creating a custom file format for Adobe Air and if there are any other 'out-of-the-box' solutions to saving 'complex' data to a users hard disk.

I have built a FB4 application which accesses a .NET web service of a partner company. The app runs just fine in FB4 development environment, but won't work when published to my server. I can not figure out how to get past the following error: Security error accessing url Destination: DefaultHTTP It is unlikely that I will get a crossdomain.xml file on their server, so I'm trying to get it to work using a proxy. The proxy.php is located in the same directory as the swf, and it works just fine if I use it directly in the browser.
The following is what I currently have setup:

I have started a stream from Flash media encoder to flash media server. According to my encoder, it should be located at: "rtmp://localhost/live" and is called livestream.In the Flash software I try and set the source of FLVPlayback component to "rtmp://localhost/live/livestream", and I get this error: "NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound : Adobe Flash tried to play a live or recorded stream that does not exist. if I put in the contentPath of a FLVPlayback component a file that doesn't exist, how can I catch an error event? (All files are loaded locally, without a FMS) I tried to dodge the problem using other events, but if the file doesn't exist, pretty much none of the events will work.

I'm loading everything in on the first frame, but there are boxes that do not exist in the timeline until frame 5 or so. I published an app to Air 2.5 (.air) from Adobe Flash CS 5 and afterwards also to Air Android (.apk) Since then I receive this error message if I try to publish as .air again:
Error creating files. Icon file is missing.
I tried to delete and recreate the folder and pathes but the error still appears.

I have a bit of code that I want to change to make it save to the application directory. (the directory the application is installed at). While currently the bit of code I have works it just brings up a browse window for me to pick where to save the file. I want it to default to the application directory though.

Here is the exact error I receive: Error creating Flash projector file. Be sure that Flash is installed correctly and that the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive.I am able to produce an exe but not the app.

I have 200 GB free on my drive where I publish to.
After the message appears, I have always to close all open programs and to restart again. Then it works for a while and the mess appears again.

Just a minute ago my .fla file can be played. But after several minute when I added movie clips and animations. It just crashed down I guess, Adobe Flash CS3 stop working. I'm using Microsoft Vista operating system. I have an antivirus subscription which is McAfee with automatic update. I think it's a virus or what? I dunno what to do. I got a long way already with my animation on my file. When I will start from the very beginning it would be a mess and it will consumed a lot of time.Four to five attempts of testing the movie:
error msg: Adobe Flash CS3 stop working.
After several minute, test the movie again:
error msg: Flash CS3 memory overload, I dont know the exact error message.
I inspect the microsoft dialog and views the problem, it says APPCRASH, Flash.exe and has several .dll and other components did not load.

I was working on a project in CS3 and since i'm getting closer to completion i started porting it to CS4 flashplayer 10. (bug is also present in CS5 when exporting for flash player 10.) Whenever i run the project this line is displayed: ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable $elementInstruction is not defined. along with the stack.

I've been having a problem with my percentage preloaders today... The script comes directly from this tutorial... and I've used the same script in at least 3 other Flash movies, but this time the Flash movie doesn't run properly, and i get this error:

I have a basic site for an old age home. Recently I decided to put a Flash Movie on the Homepage but even though all files are loaded and links correct it won't show in either IE or Firefox...

There is a white space where the movie should be loading... But it doesn't...
I've done lots of sites with the same kind of movies and they all work fine... But this ons just doesn't work. It views fine when I test it on my computer but as soon as I load it - nothing...

I have created a small flash project with 6 Scenes(two scenes contain flv clips 2 minutes each(1560 frames)). If I test each scene separately it runs perfectly, but when I try to run the whole movie it runs for 10 minutes "Exporting SWF Movie" and then stops without any errors or warning and without running project or creating swf file. I am using Adobe Flash Professional cs5.5.

I have a movie which loads quiz questions from an XML file. This works perfectly, although editing the questions is a bit tricky. Whether it is possible to create an XML file from a flash movie.
I would like to create a simple template in which:
- the user enters the question and answer data
- the user chooses a filename for their data
- this data is saved to the hard drive in the form of an XML file
- this data can be accessed by a serarate quiz movie
Is this possible?

When I have a class linked to a MovieClip in my library and that class takes an argument in its constructor method. That class will compile properly ONLY when it's located in my top-level directory (same dir as the .fla and Document.as files). If I move that class to a deeper directory, say com.place, and update the package statement and symbol link appropriately, the compiler will generate error "1136: Incorrect number of arguments. Expected 0."Create flash project and put a rectangle on the stage. Covert it to symbol and assign it to class TestPanel - or whatever you choose. Also configure the fla so that is uses a Document (Main) class.Create Main.as and TestPanel.as in the same folder. In the Main class, instantiate a instance of TestPanel and add it to the stage. Flash will, predictably, add the rectangle symbol and everything is fine.Now modify TestPanel so that its constructor method takes a Number and have Main.as pass some number to TestPanel.[code]You now get the error: 1136: Incorrect number of arguments.Expected 0.When I move the TestPanel.as into a deeper directory, Flash somehow is looking elsewhere for the base class for Symbol, even though I'm mapping that Symbol to com.place.TestPanel.

What methods could I use to save a xml generated in flash into the same directory as the swf file?
I know I can use "FileReference.save()" for flash player 10. But this has prompt window that appears and lets the user choose where to save. I just want it to automatically save in the directory of the flash file.

The web designer on a project is using Flash Gallery which loads a images.xml file. The SWF expects it to be in the same directory as the .html file. So if I am at the action /Public/Home/Gallery, it would expect the images.xml to be in at Public/Home.
How do I allow the Flash SWF to load the file? I have no access to the source code, so I cannot change the behaviour of the SWF.
