Flash :: Access A Dynamic Textbox That Doesn't Exist Until A Later Frame In The Timeline?

I'm doing a project using ActionScript 2 where I'm loading in text from an XML file to dynamic text boxes. I'm loading everything in on the first frame, but there are boxes that do not exist in the timeline until frame 5 or so. Is there anyway I can access those to set their text property from the first frame
I have two embedded flv's in the timeline, one after the other. There are no errors in the video files. When the "playhead" in the exported swf comes to the end of the two combined videoclips, it jumps back to the first frame of the 2nd video clip for a fraction of a second, before playing from the start of the timeline as it is supposed to. I have explicitly done a "gotoandplay(1) in a separate action layer, at the last frame of the "movie", but that's not what happens.
Right now I'm us Flash CS4 and creating a flash program in AS3. After a certain frame the dynamic text boxes that I have set up refuse to display text when required. I've gone over every line of code and every possible set up and I can't understand why it will not work. I've made sure all the dynamic text boxes have the instance names properly in place naming them all "talkBox". I've made sure all the code is written properly talkBox.text = "Insert Text Here!" There should be absolutely no reason in the world why the dynamic text boxes shouldn't be working.
I am working through an audio player demonstration in the book "Foundation Actionscript 3.0". I would like to store the value from combobox or text area-MovieClip in MyClass and then I'd like to read this from another frame in *.fla file only this :) have you another code? what can I write in frame 2 Miclass and frame 3
My aim is to construct a search tool, but I need it to ignore "The" from company names, and from the search, just in case the user searched the company name with The and its not on the xml, and vice versa... you know how it is...Anyway, i basically need something like "ignoreLeft(4)"... 4 being T H E and a space... but ignoreLeft() doesn't exist...

The trouble is the XML file isnt ammedable so I have to make changes during the search, otherwise I could just remove "the" from the xml file...I know this is fictitious code, but this is how I would imagine it to sound?
I have two frames in the timeline of my flash file. On frame 1 there is a movie clip. How can I access this movie clip with code located in frame 2?
It doesn't matter whether the mc is already placed on the stage or is added dynamically from the Library - I just need to access the alpha property. I can provide a more detailed description of my file if needed.

i have a script that load pics (named as "1.jpg" "2.jpg" "3.jpg" ...) in a movieclip.to load pic i use a variable +[i]+.jpg and so with i++ i load others pics..but i need a way to restart "i" if there aren't no more pictures..
after some time debugging I found you that a script on a clip in my project is executed even then when it is not on stage. I just jump to a fame later in the timeline where the clip does not exist. But the load and unload event is executed.
Im attempting to create a class which cleans all the mess it's done by itself. If i make some instances of this class in an external class, i want the base class remove itself, or in other words, if i linkage this class to any movieclip, i want to remove this movieclip not in the file I created it in, but rather would like it to automatically remove itself if i want it to. I don't know if it's even possible. A simple removeChild(this) isnt working.
I have made it this far with much help and all was working well until the xml changed. Sometimes the c_Result node does not exist and my c_points text box returns 'undefined'. I have tried if(c_points != undefined){ etc which works to a degree but I don't know how to make the text box blank if the node doesn't exist and load the c_Result node if it does.

if I put in the contentPath of a FLVPlayback component a file that doesn't exist, how can I catch an error event? (All files are loaded locally, without a FMS) I tried to dodge the problem using other events, but if the file doesn't exist, pretty much none of the events will work.
How do I link a button thats embedded in frame 2 (music page timeline) to a frame in the main timeline ( frame 3= biography page)? Both pages are on the same scene with link buttons embedded in each page independent timeline.
I have a whole bunch of objects that are linked to the collisionDetect class but when I move from frame 1 where they are on the stage to frame 2 the class starts freaking out wondering where its objects went.
How I can load an external .txt document into a designated dynamic text box in my flash document. I've tried the two tutorials I could find on flashkit.com and neither of them worked for me. I did everything as told and still the text file didn't load. When I enter the actionscript into the editor, I'll click check syntax and I get an error!

I have another problem that I might as well ask too. I would like to have users check the box, and not be able to see what is in the dynamic text box until they click a button called "submit".
I've got a movieclip with a blank dynamic textbox inside. On frame 1 of this movieclip, I have the actionscript to load the contents of an external .txt file into the dynamic textbox. The problems are:
1. I have an <img> tag in the external .txt that doesn't work (actually, the text does wrap around where the img is supposed to be in the dynamic textbox, but the img itself is not appearing. 2. All <p> tags don't work, but <br> does. 3. I have an ampersand (&) in the .txt file and all text is cut off at that point when loaded into the dynamic textbox. I've tried escaping it (&) and using & to no avail.

My employer is making a flash card and they want to customize it by passing a variable in the url that links to the card in order to fill in a dynamic text box.So the URL will have ?me=Bob on the end to but Bob's name inside the card.I've done this for them in the past but that was AS2 and I'm trying to use AS3 for this card. oward a code snippet or tutorial on the best way to accomplish this. If we could use an embedded font that would be a bonus.
I am trying to load html into a text box from a website. when i load to the text box, everything goes fine except that it is loaded as something that looks like this:

I decided to try to use setInterval for myanimation, which is just a mouse trail.However, I'm trying to get teh mouse trail to be a dynamic mask.In my previous swf this was achieved by using a holder mc with the animation inside and then using this as the mask. But this time I just canpt seem to hit on the right way to get it to work. The code I am using for the mouse trail is:

in the function, but now the trail doesn't resize and the mask still doesn't work.
I have three frames. The first frame is the original. When the marker hits the right answer (target i should say), it must proceed to frame 3. If the answer is wrong it should go to frame 2. But the things when the marker hits the right answer the frame that is being shown is frame 2 and not frame 3.
I need to have a button that contains a text box, and have the text change. First, is there a way to access a text box directly in a SimpleButton? While I know this doesn't work, it would look something like Code: btn.upState.textField.text="Text"
Second, since I could not get that to work, I made a movie clip, put the button i made in it, and simply put the text box over the button. The problem this creates is that when the mouse is hovering over just the button it is in the over state. When the button moves over the text box it goes back to the up state. Why it does this and if it is possible for the button to still be in its over state when the mouse is over an object that is on top of the button itself?
