Oct 26, 2011I'm writing a JSFL script to export animations from Flash. I iterate through every frame in the timeline, and for each frame I go through every element in every layer, and write each Element's symbol name and matrix values out to a file. The problem is, if you've created animation using a motion tween, the exporter steps through every frame but sees the same matrix values for each Element in every frame. This is where I hit the first problem: Iterating through the timeline in this way doesn't seem to work. I can't see any way of getting the right information out for each frame.
There is a workaround: Namely, selecting all the animated layers on the timeline, and selecting "Convert to Frame by Frame animation" from the context menu. Then you run the exporter, and then you have to undo the "Convert to Frame by Frame" animation in order to continue working on the file. That's pretty messy, so I tried to automate the process, by having the export script perform the convert to frame by frame. When you perform the action, and look it up in the History window, Flash tells you that the JSFL command it used was the following:

Jul 9, 2011for one reason or another, my brush tool only allows me to select color and smoothing. Stroke, style, scale, and everything else is grayed out and will not let me change it.

Nov 25, 2010I have Flash CS5 and I'm trying to export SWC from it to use as a library with Flex SDK (FlashDevelop). I have "Export SWC" checked in publish settings and for a while it worked. Now, even if it still is checked, SWC isn't created (at least in the same directory as SWF). I even tried creating a completely new FLA and copied everything from the old library in there. Still it doesn't work.

Professional :: Exporting CS5 Flash To Quicktime - It Doesn't Work?
Jan 23, 2011I have a 2.93 Core 2 with 8 Gb of RAM.I have a Flash video containing animations, graphics and text. It is 2 minutes long. The SWF works fine. ActionScript 3.0. 900x500 resolution.When I first attempted to export as quicktime, it gave a message very close to this:
"Warning: Runtime Shared Libaries (RSL's) failed to be associated with the file due to Quicktime Publishing Settings."
The wording may be a bit off, this is from memory. Keep in mind I am not even trying to publish at this point, I am exporting. Not that I could tell you the difference.So after showing this message, the progress bar continues to fill until it is completely full, and then nothing happens. The bar jus sits there full, doing nothing.So then after I explored the publishing settings, I found under the 'Flash' tab, a dropdown menu that let me choose "Merge into code" as the integrating the Runtime Shared Library with the file.Then I hit publish. The progress bar fills and disappears, I press okay. Still, I can not find any movie file (or even the place to choose where published file go) on my computer.
After this, I try exporting. The warning the appeared previously is gone, but the progress bar still freezes when it is full, and no file is produced.One thing I have been thinking is maybe it has to do with the number of frames in my file. I have inserted the stop action at the end, so the video stops and does not loop when previewing the SWF, however there are still many blank frames, that don't contain any objects or tweens or anything like that. The setting is currently "stop encoding at last frame" which I assume means the last frame of my video before the stop function. I cannot figure out a way to make the empty frames after this point dissappear, I just figure it is part of the program itself.
Flash :: Professional - New Version Of Player Doesn't Work
Mar 15, 2011I am having the same problem as a lot of other folks. I have searched through this and other forums and nobody seems to have an answer - at least I can't find one. The set up is this: I tried to view a video - received a message that I need to download the latest version of Flash Player - did so and everything seemed normal - tried the video again and got the same message. I have tried everything suggested on the official Flash Support page as well as this and several other forums and nothing changes.
I haven't seed this tidbit in other threads and it is probably worth noting that when I go to the page on the Adobe site where you can check which version is installed - it says no version is installed even though it apears normally in the Programs and Features window and can be removed from there. Off-the-shelf version of Windows 7 Home Premium , 32 bit running on an HP Pavillion Notebook. No problems with Flash Player unitl 3 days ago.
ActionScript 3.0 :: Stop(); Doesn't Work On Master Timeline?
Jul 24, 2007I've used the stop(); function on my actions frame, top layer, on all of my frames. I've tried using it on keyframes for all of the frames, and on one "master" actionscript frame (spans the movie).
stop(); won't stop my master timeline. I've traced it, and it isn't being activated--so that tells me that for some reason, the actions on the frames (not in the document class file) aren't being triggered.
Is it related to the fact that I have a custom document class? I can't think of anything in there that would cause this to happen, and I even put a stop(); in the beginning of the constructor function. (Didn't work so I took it out.)
This isn't a looping movie clip inside of my timeline, it is the master timeline itself.

Nov 7, 2010I made a simple website with a flash menu, that opens internal links in an iframe. However, I have a few other (not included in the menu) external links, which open in the same iframe. And after I click on one of them and it loads in the iframe, the buttons on the menu stop working. I'm beginning to think it has something to do with the internet explorer, since it works on some computers. But I'm not sure... not very good at this.

Apr 7, 2010I've imported a gif file into flash, traced it into the bitmap, made 24 symbols from 25 I wanted, I've distributed them into timeline, made a simple animation from few layers just for fun, when I made a new symbol it was from the first frame, only there was possible to see all graphic and select a new symbol, however now when I click on the first frame the last part of graphics that I want to convert to symbol is grey and I'm not able to select it (picture 4, the small grey stains), however with a selection tool it is possible to change a shape of the "stain". Other miracle I don't understand is the magenta square in left up corner, picture3 (it occurs only from 2nd frame), in library no symbol has this square.

Jun 28, 2010Why are the scale x and y options grayed out on the motion editor? I tried editing width and height (W&H) in the "properties panel" under "position and size" and all that does is move the position my object diagonally for some reason, not scale the size. Also, when i do this, the Width number does not change, but the x and y position numbers above it change. Strange!

Nov 17, 2010I am currently having the unfortunate experience of learning Flash Pro as part of my degree program at school. I have been having a problem with the program crashing repeatedly. I have CS4 Web Premium, an educational discount edition, and am using it on an HP pc with an AMD Athlon and Nvidia v-card. I have had problems with it crashing on this computer when using tools such as the deco-tool and sometimes when transforming something. The real problem is when I try to use one of the Dell pc's at school to work on a file I have created at home on the HP. On 4 different machines at school Flash will crash when working on one of these files, especially when scrubbing the playhead on the timeline. The program will crash over and over, to the point where I can't really work on these files at school, which is a huge waste of time.

Jan 27, 2011I am just learning to use Flash CS5 Professional (aided by the "Flash Basics" tutorials of Lynda.com). I am presently trying to manipulate symbols as motion-tweens with the 3-D rotation tool found in the Flash toolbar. At the moment I'm trying to take a single word originally created as text, now a symbol, and animate it with motion-tweens so that it appears to be twirling on its x axis or y axis as though it's tumbling through the air like a coin.My trouble is that I can successfully get the symbol to motion-tween itself through one half of a single rotation. But nothing I try seems to work to have the symbol complete its rotation all the way around without the symbol wanting to suddenly flip and rotate in the other direction to complete the full 360 degree rotation. Every trick I use, the symbol wants to tween back the way it came to finish its rotation. This is happening whether I try to rotate type as a symbol, or whether I use other objects (rectangles, ovals, etc.) I've created and then converted to symbols and then movie clips (which I have done in all cases). No matter what I try, this program is not cooperating. What am I doing wrong. My Flash CS5 often behaves as if it's buggy (I'm running it on a brand new state of the art iMac, with the latest version of Snow Leopard as my OS). But even with all it's other little bugs, restarting Flash doesn't seem to clear up this mystery.

Oct 13, 2010For this website I've put a preloader on the 1st frame and the site on the 2nd.I've tested the site after having created a small animation which makes appear the main menu, a logo and an image.Everything did work good, so I went on building the site.Now that I have created some pages I've tested again the whole site and the preloader doesn't work anymore.Testing the site on the "ctrl+enter" window and simulating the download I have a white background (both the preloader and website background are yellow) then I see the preloader for a fraction of second and suddenly the site appears.
Publishing the site on my web space the background is correctly yellow, but the preloader doesn't appear, the browser's loading bar stops at half then the preloader appears again for a fraction of seconds and suddenly the site appears (tested on Firefox, IE, Opera, Chrome and Safari, same behaviour with all of them).It looks that the preloader is become part of the site and that there is an invisibile preloader.The setting in: Publish settings -> Flash -> Script Settings -> Library Path -> Default Linkageis set to "Merged into code"the same happen if I set "Runtime Shared Library" and "Custom Preloader Loop".
Professional :: Find And Replace Doesn't Work In CS3?
Nov 24, 2007Here's an unexplainable problem, at least for me... I'm trying to use Edit --> Find and Replace in Flash CS3 to replace a line of code that occurs in many frame scripts throughout the FLA, but when I click "Replace All", it says "No items found". I'm sure everything is set up correctly in the Find and Replace window:Search in: Current Document, for: Text, and I'm sure I'm typing everything correctly. I have "Frames/Layers/Parameters" and "Actionscript" checked below, and everything else unchecked.

Nov 21, 2010I have made a simple animation using only the timeline. The animation is covered by a button "Knapp" (alpha 0) wich activates the actions. The whole thing works fine the first time. The last action says go to and play frame 2, wich has two actions: stop + go to and play frame 4. But this action does not work the second time. I tried to set the action to frame 3 instead of 2 and the same problem occured on another action on the timeline as well.
Here is the last action on my timeline:

Jun 17, 2011I recently updated my flash to cs5.5 and my iPad (1g) to the IOS 5 beta. Since then I haven't been able to publish my apps to any IOS device. The apps run in adl and as swf on my macbook pro, but on my iPad (IOS 5) and iPhone 3gs (IOS 5) they just start up and freeze at the stage. I use a loader to load a soundfile and image to the stage right at the start but they just don't show up.
The weirdest thing is that my colleague uses cs5.5 on windows and cs5 on a mac to publish to the same iPad and his apps do work! When I tried to publish on another mac in cs5 I just got the same problem as before.
I hope someone knows a solution for this problem because it is getting on my nerves.
Professional :: Games Right Click Doesn't Work?
Jun 20, 2011When I played Pogo Payday Freecell, if I'd right-click on a hidden card it would show that card. Now (on Flash 10.3) if I right click I get a pull down menu with show card - press space bar, Global setting and Adobe written.
I've also noticed on a number of other sites that right click now bring up this pul down menu with Adobe written on the bottom. How can I change the settings so they work like they used to?

Jul 26, 2011I load multiple SWFs into a single SWF for seamless user navigation and playback. This allows me to have multiple scenes and a single menu from which to jump to them. Now on to the problem...As you can see in my current site, the LoadMovie function works properly when the SWF "loader" sits on an URL>..HTML page opens with an SWF on it, which correctly loads a movie file(s) into it.However, when I put the exact same SWF "loader" file into a prettyPhoto lightbox: URL...(click the Clinical Ink thumbnail to see the lightbox)The first SWF loads fine but it doesn't load the movie into it.I've tried multiple SWFs that also work fine on an HTML page, all with the same result.
