Flash :: Professional - Menu Doesn't Work After Opening An External Link
Nov 7, 2010
I made a simple website with a flash menu, that opens internal links in an iframe. However, I have a few other (not included in the menu) external links, which open in the same iframe. And after I click on one of them and it loads in the iframe, the buttons on the menu stop working. I'm beginning to think it has something to do with the internet explorer, since it works on some computers. But I'm not sure... not very good at this.
I am trying to fix this problem. My external text display fine and also the CSS. The problem is when I am using any tag in html like <a> doesn't work, doesn't try to open the link and also the mouse doesn't change to the default hand. I am attaching my code in AS3. If you see I am using a scroller and also a mask.[code]
I have a flash intro for my website and I want after the flash is finished to automatically open an external link, how can I make this? This is the index.html:
i recently developed my website and i decided to create buttons to link my site. The problem i'm having is that when i click on a button it's opening up a new tab in my browser.
My map: [URL] The problem: The buttons does'nt work,i think i'm doing something wrong. They're in the map it self,because i don't want them to move while zooming. Actions of the button is: on (release) {getURL("http://mapping.lt", "_blank");} T.y. The fla of the map is here [URL]
I have a flash file on the homepage of my client's website. When you click "Enter", the new page opens in a new tab. I want it all to stay in the same tab. If you would like to view the entire code yourself to identify how I could solve this issue, the site is: [URL]- but if not then I will paste the code of the flash object below:
I inherited some code from a previous programer. The idea is that a user clicks on the player and that opens the page at a new url. It works if it opens in a new page but it doesn't work trying to open the url in the same page. It just closes the player. Here is the code:
I have Flash CS5 and I'm trying to export SWC from it to use as a library with Flex SDK (FlashDevelop). I have "Export SWC" checked in publish settings and for a while it worked. Now, even if it still is checked, SWC isn't created (at least in the same directory as SWF). I even tried creating a completely new FLA and copied everything from the old library in there. Still it doesn't work.
This sounds quite ridiculous but my space bar doesn't want to work in Flash CS3. I'm a web designer and started recently for a new company. They asked me to include a flash image on one of our websites. When I try to add text to the stage, I can't make spaces. That is all. I've used flash before and I've never ran into this problem
XML text to be used as a link within my flash site.What I mean by this is I have a XML file with a list of shows and at the end of each title and short description and I would like to have a link to the show's dedicated page.I know how to do a URL link but a gotoAndPlay / Stop link doesn't seem to work the same way.. Here is an example of what I mean:
Show Name 1: Short description link to dedicated 'page'[code]....
I have a 2.93 Core 2 with 8 Gb of RAM.I have a Flash video containing animations, graphics and text. It is 2 minutes long. The SWF works fine. ActionScript 3.0. 900x500 resolution.When I first attempted to export as quicktime, it gave a message very close to this:
"Warning: Runtime Shared Libaries (RSL's) failed to be associated with the file due to Quicktime Publishing Settings."
The wording may be a bit off, this is from memory. Keep in mind I am not even trying to publish at this point, I am exporting. Not that I could tell you the difference.So after showing this message, the progress bar continues to fill until it is completely full, and then nothing happens. The bar jus sits there full, doing nothing.So then after I explored the publishing settings, I found under the 'Flash' tab, a dropdown menu that let me choose "Merge into code" as the integrating the Runtime Shared Library with the file.Then I hit publish. The progress bar fills and disappears, I press okay. Still, I can not find any movie file (or even the place to choose where published file go) on my computer.
After this, I try exporting. The warning the appeared previously is gone, but the progress bar still freezes when it is full, and no file is produced.One thing I have been thinking is maybe it has to do with the number of frames in my file. I have inserted the stop action at the end, so the video stops and does not loop when previewing the SWF, however there are still many blank frames, that don't contain any objects or tweens or anything like that. The setting is currently "stop encoding at last frame" which I assume means the last frame of my video before the stop function. I cannot figure out a way to make the empty frames after this point dissappear, I just figure it is part of the program itself.
I am having the same problem as a lot of other folks. I have searched through this and other forums and nobody seems to have an answer - at least I can't find one. The set up is this: I tried to view a video - received a message that I need to download the latest version of Flash Player - did so and everything seemed normal - tried the video again and got the same message. I have tried everything suggested on the official Flash Support page as well as this and several other forums and nothing changes.
I haven't seed this tidbit in other threads and it is probably worth noting that when I go to the page on the Adobe site where you can check which version is installed - it says no version is installed even though it apears normally in the Programs and Features window and can be removed from there. Off-the-shelf version of Windows 7 Home Premium , 32 bit running on an HP Pavillion Notebook. No problems with Flash Player unitl 3 days ago.
Im working on migrating an old as2 file to as3 and am stuck on a swapDepths issue--Havent had any luck with setChildIndex or swapChildren--Nothing is being dynamically added to the stage and as the clips are nested and consist of timeline layers of textfields and MCs Im not even sure what is a child of what. for some reason on mousing over the menu, the code I have for highlighting the button and showing the text that was appended(on long lines of item descriptions) due to size constraints of the component, is showing up as semi-transparent--I dont understand what is causing it to happen(although I resolved the issue previously with swapDepths)or how to resolve it. The code thats is the issue is in the menuButton MC timeline layer 13...
Here's the link to the file--see button 8--- [URL]
i found this nice Mac OS X Dock Menu effect on [URL] (the second link from the top), the thing is, it only works when it is published for flash player 6 or lower... why it doesn't work when it is published for flash player 7...
I am using in AS3 "External Interface ". When I call the JS function that is on the same page as swf everything works fine.
I added a link in the html page to an external JS file, when I move the JS function to the external JS file the website crushes.
I would prefer to have all my JS functions on an external file so I can use them in the future in other project and it also makes it easier for me to update the site.
how to call a JS function that is on an external file from AS3?
... I've had my preloader successes already, but something still doesn't work for the external movies... I'm loading the main movie - which contains several chapters, loaded as external swf's - with the following preloader on the first frame, rest content from second frame on:
I have a flash website, with two menu the main menu that loads by Loader class swf files with the respective content. And the secondary menu that changes the language of the site. How do u implement the action of having the site translation?
1)Passing params Load file.swf?langid=n then reading by loader info (this one is not easy to test since loading swf with params doesn't work in flash ide debug env.)or
2) on load complete cast the loader to a movieclip the accessng a main func with the task of translating the whole swf contents(the same func i should have at point 1)
[URL] The link above references the documentation for a CandlestickChart class. I would like to use it, but I have never heard of it and I cant even understand the example. The first thing it says to do is to import mx.charts, doesnt work. Does this CandlestickChart class even exist in Flash Professional?
I'm making a DVD menu in flash. It will open several kinds of files. .mov .avi . ppt . pdf etc.But i want to open those files directly, without prompting. When i try to open non web files, a popup window appears, as shown in this screenshot:
I'm a newbie to flash (being in i.t. since 1989). I'm using the following method to load an external swf file. The method is called from the main movies constructors
I have l a flash file in my pages that links to other pages within my web site but when clicked they automatically open in another window. How can I link them without opening a new window as would happen with a normal web page link?
Here is my current Action Script code: index.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,indexbuttondown);
function indexbuttondown(event:MouseEvent):void { var bbcURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest("index.html"); navigateToURL(bbcURL); }
I need to open up a page within "youtube" from a clip used in a Flash movie. I have no problem with how to go about this it is just that with IE it won't let me open the link automatically - I get the "Pop up" warning spiel before the site can be opened. Is there any way I can do this seamlessly, from the movie, without requiring users to authorise security checks?
We have Flash movie in one domain and accessed from other Domain. The links in Flash movie was not working and with security restricitions we cannot use 'allowscriptaccess'. So, we used System.security.loadPolicyFile [URL]; and included the XML in our assets. This worked for the links to open in New Window. But, when the links were changed to open in the same window, the links are working in Flash Player versions till 9.2XIn the versions, 9.4X+, it is not working.
