The problem is when I am using any tag in html like <a> doesn't work, doesn't try to open the link and also the mouse doesn't change to the default hand. I am attaching my code in AS3. View 11 RepliesI inherited some code from a previous programer. The idea is that a user clicks on the player and that opens the page at a new url. It works if it opens in a new page but it doesn't work trying to open the url in the same page. It just closes the player. Here is the code:

I have been trying to connect an animation I have created which plays upon clicking a button, to link to a url after the animation has played. I have Flash CS4 and am using AS3.0. I have searched all over the internet and tried many different options, but none seem to work. Below is the code and the error messages. (I did code check and it found no errors, but when I go to test the movie, it comes up with errors in the compiler panel).[code]

The .SWF File is working pretty well on my PC but on other PCs, when I move my mouse over the buttons menu, it disappears.

View 2 RepliesI made a simple website with a flash menu, that opens internal links in an iframe. However, I have a few other (not included in the menu) external links, which open in the same iframe. And after I click on one of them and it loads in the iframe, the buttons on the menu stop working. I'm beginning to think it has something to do with the internet explorer, since it works on some computers. But I'm not sure... not very good at this.

If u open up flashSite.fla or the swf, everything works, but when I load it into a mc container of preloaderMomSite, the animated buttons no longer work. If someone could take a look, I would love to find out what I'm doing wrong. All files are located on in the same directory.

I am trying to create a simple animation, juste a picture that need to move from left to write while rotating around the vertical axis.I tried just to have the first position normal and the final position scaled at -100% in width but it also distort and move up and down.I already did that in acstionscript but not just graphicaly.

I'm trying to make a simple for loop that makes a line move. But it won't work, and when i search for "for loop" it gives me all these dynamic things that are WAY over my head.[code]The way i see it, the i should increase by 1 each time the loop is run, and then the line will move up by 1 until it is at x = 0 (it starts at x = -77). But when i preview it in flash and html, nothing happens at all.

I have a pretty simple function here where I want to start dragging a video scrubber along the x axis within bounds, and drop it when they let go. The code works perfectly if I don't specify a bounding rectangle (except it doesn't restrict to x-axis). What's up with that? Here's my non-working code:

I happen to have this real massive code for an object in my game.(please guys dont move this to the game section the problem has hardly anything to do with that) One of them is a propane tank, the other a box and the third is a barrel.(it doesnt really make much diff i just want you guys to get a better picture of whats going on)So inside of each movieclip i put in this MASSIVE code.

it works fine but when i put in an instance name the whole thing messes up.only one of them works and all the others follow commands from the same one. so lets say if presse is true for the working on, presse will be true for all the rest. The problem still happens if i use different combinations of objects like 3 crates or 1 propane tank and 2 crates. Can someone please help me find a solution without changing the instance name. By the way '_root.hater' is the character.
Ok when you press link one it olads great! when i press link 2, it plays the closing animation, but not the entire animation, thats the problem.My closing animation is a red square going from one end to another ( for the hell of it).But you see content number two will load b4 the red square gets all the way across!!
View 2 RepliesThe main AS timeline creates the enemy instance and calls them via the timer class. Inside the instance enemy movie clip there is some script to do a basic tween and there are functions to remove the enemy and to declare you've hit the enemy. The problem I'm having is when I try to call my KillEnemy function with a MouseEvent.CLICK (or MOUSE_DOWN, MOUSE_UP) event, it isn't registering, I realised this after testing the same function to listen for a MOUSE_OVER, MOUSE_OUT, it worked perfectly.
Can anyone explain why this is happening? Not just that the mouse seems to be a little delicate, even with the roll over listener called it isn't registering the event unless it hits a specific part of the movie clip enemy, which leads me to believe the movieclip is somehow built incorrectly? But even when testing the game with extreme settings (i.e. leaving the enemies on screen for a long time) the mouse clicks aren't registering still. Something is broken! Here is some of code inside the enemy movie clip, the problem lies on line 11:

I decided to try to use setInterval for myanimation, which is just a mouse trail.However, I'm trying to get teh mouse trail to be a dynamic mask.In my previous swf this was achieved by using a holder mc with the animation inside and then using this as the mask. But this time I just canpt seem to hit on the right way to get it to work. The code I am using for the mouse trail is:

ok lets say you create a button that when held down play an animation of 20 frames if realsed it goes to frame one and stops if held down it plays out this animation. for the topic lets say you have a fire animation and you want the fire to apear and if the user hold its down the animation reaches the end of the time line and loops back and plays the last 5 frames of the animation and as soon as it is let go it goes to and stops at frame one. Well i know how to make a button that when held down plays out an animation. And i know how to say when released goes to and stops at frame one. What i dont know how to do is to loop the fire at the last 5 or 6 frames so the user can hold it down all day long and play out that animation.

Inside the animation is a button, when pressed I want to go to another part of the timeline, where another animation is waiting. Simple, I got that working no problem. But... I need the first animation to go to the last frame in the loop before starting the next animation. The way I have it now makes an ugly cut, and the transition between animations isn't seamless.

I have a button object that I need to scale to align with the variable width of an array of images.However, when I set the width in code, the button does not actually become that width. Tracing out the width gives me the correct value, but on screen.. it's off.
I've proved it to myself by scaling the same button object manually in the properties pane and visually comparing. Both of the buttons below have a width of 410.

I have a 9 frames image of a character.In other language generally i used to make character animation by looping the array consisting of different frames and drawing each frame when pressing key.What i want to do is when i press left or right key, i want to draw each frame that makes character movement and update x coordinates of frames, and it will appear as character is moving.
View 4 RepliesOkay, now things are getting a little complicated. I need to build a Flash object that can sit over the corner of an image to serve extra content. It's way beyond my Flash skill level, my work is usually limited to print work in Photoshop and Illustrator so please excuse me if any of the following isn't clear. I am trying to learn though, So this is how it's all supposed to work, along with my issues; When the image & Flash item load a small looping animation will play to draw the eye/show the item as interactive.
When the user rolls over this the corner will peelback. I have a working peelback animation for the rollover, that reacts to mouse over/mouse off, and a looping animation for the initial, but I cannot work out how to make the initial loop until mouseover, then play the peelback when the mouse is over. And go back to the initial animation loop if the user rolls off. (Each of these animations is stored as a movie clip in the Library)
Then it gets more complicated... if the user stays on the corner until it is fully peeled back I need to make a small countdown (sort of a 3, 2, 1 situation) show, before launching a lightbox (would this have to be jQuery, or could it be done in Flash?) in the browser to serve the content.

I have seen this done before but cant find any tuts on how to do it. Or even any knowledge on how to program it. What I want to do is use streaming video ini 3 flash banners that are linked together as the background of a site. Also I would like to take the standard banner size 728x69, 250x300 and 160x200 and have the animation run between them all.
