ActionScript 3.0 :: Objects Still Exist Outside Of Frame?

I have a whole bunch of objects that are linked to the collisionDetect class but when I move from frame 1 where they are on the stage to frame 2 the class starts freaking out wondering where its objects went.

Internally Flash obviously keeps a list of the primitives drawn using Graphics so I wondered if you have many such primitives in a Sprite, can you re-position/remove/alter individual items rather than clear and re-draw everything? Or is this deeper into the bowels of Flash than you're allowed (or recommended) to go?

I'm loading everything in on the first frame, but there are boxes that do not exist in the timeline until frame 5 or so. ActionScript 3.0 :: Frame Of Nested Object - Remove Only The Event Listeners From Objects Only On Frame 1?

I have 3 frames each with a movie clip called map_mc. Each different map_mc have different objects that call the CollisionDetect class. Heres whats happening. objects from frame 1 will start freaking out when I goto frame 2. How do I remove only the event listeners from objects only on frame 1?

I have been trying this.currentFrame but the problem is that all the objects are inside map_mc on the first frame so no matter what it will always be 1. On the other hand MovieClip(root).currentFrame will always give me the current frame but wont tell me what the objects frame is relative to the stage.What I want to do is have something to this effect:MovieClip(root).this.currentFrame would output that this object is on frame 1 and MovieClip(root).currentFrame will tell me that the stage is on frame 2 so I can remove the listeners accordingly.

I'm working on a mock project (no real client involved) and just sent the site out to some friends to view and give feedback. All of them saw what I was seeing and said it looked great. One person however, said the site looked like it was loading in weird. He sent me a video of what he was looking at. It seems like the contents of my 3rd frame are already loaded in at frame one and the ones that load in dynamically in frame 3 never come in at all. Lots of things going wrong here. Below is a link to the live site and a link to a zip file containing all working files. Inside the zip is also a couple of video files, one is a video of what the site should look like (Vid1.mov) and the other is a video of what my friend was seeing (Vid2.mov).

I have a script where i need an objects X and Y Position to change when you enter a certain frame.

On layer 1 i have an input text field with the instance of "message_txt" that runs along all 5 frames in the timeline.

On layer 2 i have 5 frames each with its own actionscript on. The user navigates between frames with simple 'gotoAndStop(4)' etc... on each next or back button.[code]...

I have an object (button) on frame 2 of my timeline, with the name btnMenu. When clicked, i want to return to frame 1 in the timeline. Actionscript 3 does not allow me to bind the eventlistener to the button from my code on frame 1.Layout:layer 1: Actions, only on frame 1layer 2: btnMenu, only on frame 2 (with an empty frame in front)Code:

I am new with ActionScript but not entirely new to programming so I haven't had many problems with it.However I am trying to make a slideshow like slide.com's. I have 3 layers:Actionscript Preloader Images

On the stage there is 20 pixels before the thumbnails are supposed to be layed out, so I have tried to accommodate this. So the objects I want to create are the thumbnails. My problem is they are not showing up, and I have a valid image URL in the XML. Can anyone tell me how I would fix this? How do I do this in AS3?

I've finished a game and now I'm in the process of installing the mochiads preloader. The problem is that all of my exported assets load before the preloader.So I searched around learned that there are a few things that I must do:-Turn off "export on first frame"-Set classes to export on frame 3-Put all of my exported assets in a movieclip on frame 2Now this does shift everything to load on frame 2, except the problem is that all of these assets are now absent from my game for some reason. I'm working with a movieclip right now that has two frames in it. I want the user to be able to go back and forth between the pages by clicking on tabs on either page. The button that they click on is only present on the frame that it is applicable (so, the button to switch to frame 2 is only present on frame 1, and vice versa).

I want to control when they are able to click back and forth, and be able to turn the buttons on and off whenever I need to, but since the button to switch back to frame 1 is only on frame 2, when I reference it from the main timeline, the button registers as a null object. How do I refrence an object that is not present on the first frame of a clip?

I am looking to create an animation (perhaps frame by frame) that corresponds with the coordinates of an object. Specifically, I want to have a draggable object's coordinates (locked to the x-axis) indicate where the playhead of a specific movie clip should be. In other words, let's say that I have a 100px wide stage and I want each px location of an object on that stage to correspond to a particular frame of a movieclip. In concept, I feel that it should be as easy as loading an objects coordinates into a variable, then passing that variable on with a simple math equation, adjusting it for movieclip length... but right about then my brain gets fried. Finding out how to lock a draggable object to the x-axis has been pretty easy, but from there I'm stumped. I'm not particularly well versed in AS3 but I do like to think I understand the concepts.

I want to use flash's gui to do some tweens, creating line black and white drawings (which I know how to do).

NOW THE CHALLENGE:

I now want to be able to extract/infer from the stage which pixels are black and which are white (and fill up a array).

I have two lines of inquiry;

1. Convert the vectors created by the tweens into a "bitmapdata" and then use the getPixel() method to reference the pixels. - This would be great for me (if I could do this on a frame by frame basis), but I do not know how to convert the tween created vector into a bitmapdata object

2. Do some magic and be able to know what vector lines are on the stage, including their position, length etc.

what happens is I have a key, a door and a health bar and an enemy. the enemy takes off some of my health...I pick up the key and it disapears and is added to my inventory. I then us it to open door then my character can move off the screen to the next frame where there is a castle., but my health bar is full again. when I go back into the previous frame the key is back, the door is closed and I cant pass through it again until I pick up the key.

the only way I have found around this is to make sure the objects are in every frame but that only solves a few problems. one of the problems is my health bar always re-plenishes no matter what when going from frame to frame. and I still cant pass thru the door even though its open.

I have a project, that uses a set of buttons, between a predetermined set of frames, with the code for each, on the same frame. When it reaches the first frame with framescript, it lists one of the objects on stage as null. It seems like it is trying to run theframescript, before the frame finishes loading/changing. Is there a event to listen for when the frame is fully loaded?Also, I've noticed this does not happen, when the framescript starts on the first frame of the main timeline.

I'm trying to reference objects on the stage in the current frame from a document class in Actionscript 3 in Flash CS3. In this example, I'm trying to get at a dynamic text field with the instance name "question_txt", but there are also buttons and other things I'll need to get at to put event listeners on and such.

I have "Automatically Declare Stage Instances" checked in the publish settings, so the references should be there -- in fact, if I try to declare them in the class, I get errors about a conflict with the name -- but when I try to reference these objects (in any of several ways I've now tried!) I always get Null.

I have been trying to develop a drag and drop Mr. Potato Head type game for a couple of days now. I am new to AS3 and I have hit a roadblock that I was hoping someone out there could help me get through. My game has 3 separate menus (mouths, hats, and eyes).Each menu is a nested MC which has several dragable objects. Unfortunately, when I move to the next frame on the timeline the object I drug out resets itself and disappears. Is there any way to keep a dragable object on the stage once it has been placed there? I think my problem is more of a logic and structure issue with the way that I set up the game rather than an issue with actionscript.

A while back i wrote a function that ran through various frames of my main time line, and looked to see if there was a movieclip on the stage at that frame with the instance name of "printMe" i wrote it in AS 2.0 and it worked fine just by saying
