May 11, 2010I use Flash Cs4 and all of a sudden when I try to export to avi I get "error creating avi file." why or how to fix this? I can still export to quicktime.

Jul 22, 2008OK I have been racking my brain to get this resolved and unfortunately there isn't a lot of info on the web. Scenario: We are in a shared environment. Central file server (Mac OS X server) over gigabit enet. We open flash files over the network and then we "try" to publish the files back to the same server in which the .fla is stored. (I have read John at Adobe's comments on the practice but this DID work).
So we access the flash file at /Volumes/ServerName/JobFolder/~Flash/ and we "attempt to" publish the .swf to /Volumes/ServerName/JobFolder/htmlfolder/flash .... this was working previously in flash 6-7 but in 8-cs3 it has stopped working and we are kicking ourselves to get some answers. When we try to publish we get the following error: "Error creating Flash movie file. Be sure the destination is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long."

Error Creating Flash Movie File
May 22, 2007Since I started using CS3 I sometimes get the following error: Error creating Flash movie file. Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long. It doesn't happen all the time, and I haven't been able to figure out what causes it. I have been able to confirm that it's not anything to do with locked files/drives, permissions, or file name length.
It happens with files created elsewhere (by other developers) that I've modified, and it happens with files I start from scratch - I can create a new FLA on my desktop and it won't publish. Sometimes (but not always), publishing to a different directory than the one the FLA is in will work. This is becoming a big problem. I'm on OS X 10.4.9, 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro 17", running CS3 Web Premium package.

May 7, 2010I'm using Flash CS4,i'm having problems creating a xml file to work with the action script for a 3D carousel. I've created folder for image png file and icons xml using a normal notepad in windows for file to work with the flash action script 2.0, but in output menu the msg says Error opening URL 'file:///C|/Users/User/Documents/caroselFile/icons.xml'.They're no compiler errors. Should the notepad be xml editor? I have been told i can use a normal notepad.Maybe i should of saved it in the fla directry but don't know where it is.

Aug 2, 2010In the past I have used PPro CS4 and Encore to create a DVD of clips which I show to clients. Each clip has a chapter mark so that I can jump quickly to the start of each clip. I now want to make a big Flash file of all the clips, with chapter marks which I can quickly jump to. But when I create the file from PPro, I get all the clips in one nice big file, but with no chapter marks. If I create it from Encore, it cuts the file into lots of little Flash files, the cutting points being the chapter marks. How can I create one big Flash file consisting of all the little clips, but with chapter marks which I can jump to?

My objective is this. I have a final edited FLV video file. I also have Flash Professional. What I want to do is create a single SWF file (like with the Adobe Captivate example), which will include the video and the skin for the progress bar, volume etc and then reference this in another aspx page for the website.
I want to be able to have the same 'packaged' SWF file, as in the captivate, created from this FLV video. In Flash Proffessional, I've imported the FLV into the 'stage' and added a skin through the wizard. But trying to publish or other options, I've not been able to get this single 'packaged' SWF file to run correctly in the website, via the same apsx code as above.Am I missing a trick here? I would presume it would be fairly simple as I don't want to edit the video, more I want to embedded it with a skin in the one SWF file.
Can't Publish Html File - "Error "creating SWF Movie File"

Also, check that the file name is not too long" I've done all of the above and still get the error. I can export the SWF but I need a transparent background so I need the html.

Jun 27, 2010When I tried to import an Illustrator CS5 file into Flash CS5, I got an error from Windows saying that the program "stopped working" and it was searching for solutions to the problem. Feb 8, 2010I have Flash CS3 on OSX. Everytime I open a specific FLA file, I immediately get the following error message:
"Error creating Flash Movie. Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check to make sure the name is not too long."
Dismissing the alert box results in the same alert box instantaneously popping back, completely blocking any attempt to act upon the file. The file name is 7 characters long (extension included) and is located in a folder which contains other FLAs I have no problem publishing.
I have sent back the file in question to its creator and she had no problem opening it in CS3. She has done a "Save as..." and sent me the result, but it did not work. A collegue of mine opened it successfully in CS4. I have taken the opportunity to verify the Publish settings there (not that it should matter as I can't do anything with the file, let alone publishing it) and it is set to publish only a SWF file next to its FLA. Saving it as a CS4 file then back to CS3 has not produced a file which I can use with any success. It seems very unlikely that the file is corrupt. So is my Flash CS3 installation corrupt?
Professional :: Unexpected File Format Error
Jul 23, 2011I was recently working on a project in Flash CS5.5 for school, last thing i did was save the project and close the program. Next time I try to open it I get an error saying "Unexpected File Format", and the application closes itself out. I can open Flash by itself and work on anything else, but when I try to open my class project it repeats the same thing "Unexpected File Format" and closes. The file was originally started IN Flash CS5.5, and has not moved to any other program since then.

May 29, 2011I've created a small application that is loaded by a preloader. The preloader loads the app then loads some json data it passes the data to the application and then puts the application on stage. Everything works fine in FDT 4 but once I put it on a server it gives me this error - SecurityError: Error #2028: Local-with-filesystem SWF file. Does anyone know why its happening and what setting I need to change to stop it? I have set the load arrguments -use-network=true and false to no availe. The json data is coming from an external web address when I change and put it locally with the application I get SecurityError 2148.

May 27, 2010I am trying to use the new unCaughtErrorEvent, as explained here: [URL] When testing the event I run across two problems:
1 - when testing the movie from the flash IDE, the uncaught error is indeed caught and handled (as in the example) BUT the original
error still gets thrown! For example, when loading an XML file that does not exist: - first the uncaughterror event gets called. (good!) - then I get an unhandled event error (ioErrorEvent for not finding the xml file). Isn't the whole point of catching uncaught errors that you can catch ALL these errors? This way it seems rather useless to me.
2 - when testing the uncaughterror handler from a html page, the debugger gives an entirely new error: VerifyError: Error #1014: Class flash.events::UncaughtErrorEvent could not be found. So for now, I'm truly baffled as to what UncaughtErrorEvent is supposed to do and why it doesn't work

Simply enough, I am using the UILoader with AS3 to load a .swf file into the main timeline with // loadWindow.source = "projects.swf"; // I get the 1009 Error. Feb 24, 2009I'm making a system to upload photos to a gallery. I'm using filereference, and it's working alright. I can upload like 20 files fine sometimes.. but when I do like 50, it starts giving me errors on over half the files.
The error is: Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2038: File I/O Error.
This may be a php error, or server error, I'm not sure. Because the file isn't even uploading at all.

Aug 11, 2009I am creating a SWF file using a MXML file. The MXML file define several MX:Button and uses an external stylesheet to style them. There is a problem I am facing at the moment, I am aiming to style the buttons in a way that is similar to the way I can style HTML button elements. However, I could not achieve such look and feel. For example, I could not find a way to define the color and thickness of the borders for each side of the button (top, bottom, left, right), the background color, the margins, the padding, the width, and the height of the button. Also, selector such as hover, active, focus are not available. I was only able to change the size and the font color of the button successfully.

Oct 19, 2010Initially I had a 2039 error I resolved this by using a local testing server, which resulted in a 2038 error. So then I hard coded the url and now I dont get any errors but the file doesnt upload.
Instead a file is created (FileUpload.cs) in the directory where the files should be.
Does anyone know what this FileUpload.cs file is?
