Professional :: Creating A Xml File To Work For A 3D Carousel?

I'm using Flash CS4,i'm having problems creating a xml file to work with the action script for a 3D carousel. I've created folder for image png file and icons xml using a normal notepad in windows for file to work with the flash action script 2.0, but in output menu the msg says Error opening URL 'file:///C|/Users/User/Documents/caroselFile/icons.xml'.They're no compiler errors. Should the notepad be xml editor? I have been told i can use a normal notepad.Maybe i should of saved it in the fla directry but don't know where it is.

The tutorials on the site are fantastic kudos to the developers of the site and the tutorials. On Creating 3D Carousels would anyone know a way to stack the rings? Also additional images to be called in each new ring via the XML file.

For some reason, in the past few days, the auto complete feature doesn't work well when I'm creating a new class file. I'm trying to write a new class which uses away3D, and even though the auto-complete works well when I start a new AS3 file, it just doesn't work as far as away3D is concerned when I try to create a new AS3 Class file. Other features of the auto-complete don't work as well, for some reason.

I am VERY green when it comes to flash and this is my first ever project. What Im trying to accomplish; *a website for myself that is "simple" and clean to be used as an art portfolio/gallery of my work. -three sets of buttons that go to three pages all with carousels that hold my artwork for that type (ie. press the concept art button and it loads page 2 where there is a photo carousel that containing my concept art pieces.
-clicking another button will then call for a new page with a new carousel (I have three types of art that I am showcasing: concept art, fine art, 3D game art)
I have managed to create a flash page that has my name and the buttons and upon pressing the buttons it goes to the page I need. However the pages are at the moment empty due to the fact that I cannot get the carousels to work properly. I have watched the tutorial and dl the class package on 3D carousels. I changed the .as file within the package so that my carousel will be vertical by changing imc.x = Math.cos(imc.angle) * 450; to imc.y = Math.cos(imc.angle) * 450;

Here is the scenario... I am attempting to create a carousel image gallery each image is accompanied by a url that when pressed will take the viewer to an external website. I am pulling this information from an xml document "images.xml". I am using a dynamic textfield with an instance name "links" to hold the urls. The problem is the URLs are not changing when I selected a new image. How can I make it so that when a user clicks on image1 for example they'll get "View Google" and when they click on image2 they'll get "View YouTube" etc?

I changed a layer entry of my Flash file by moving around various elements within the layer. I sitll have the original file, too. I'd like to put it back exactly like it was in the original file. How do I replace the changed sprite element from the new file with the original from the old file?

I am having an issue with a freshly installed copy of Flash CS4 Upon trying to create a new fla file or opening an fla file flash crashes. I have checked for corrupt fonts and even removed all non system fonts yet it still happens.Below is my crash report. I encounter a big issue.When creating a new AS3 Flash file, or opening an existing one, Flash CS4 crashes(see crash report below)I can however create a new AS2 file.I reinstalled Flash, and installed latest update, and problem still occursIs it possible that a corrupted file screwed up Flash CS4 installation ?

I am new to the world of Flash, but we have several videos in flv format and it seems that Flash cs4 creates a SWF file specific to each flv.We want to use the same swf or "skin" for all the videos, so we only want to have one swf file for all the flv's and just control what is being launched in the html.

I created a button in Illustrator and imported to my Flash library. The button has drop shadows, overlay and gradients. It imports and previews just fine until I change it to a button. When I go to preview it, there are these thick red boxes that seems to incase every layer of the button?

In the past I have used PPro CS4 and Encore to create a DVD of clips which I show to clients. Each clip has a chapter mark so that I can jump quickly to the start of each clip. I now want to make a big Flash file of all the clips, with chapter marks which I can quickly jump to. But when I create the file from PPro, I get all the clips in one nice big file, but with no chapter marks. If I create it from Encore, it cuts the file into lots of little Flash files, the cutting points being the chapter marks. How can I create one big Flash file consisting of all the little clips, but with chapter marks which I can jump to?

Firstly, I've created with Adobe Captivate an SWF file which I have been able to reference in an aspx page and when I view the website, it runs fine (no other file is referenced to run this). Example of the below code in the aspx page I have created:

My objective is this. I have a final edited FLV video file. I also have Flash Professional. What I want to do is create a single SWF file (like with the Adobe Captivate example), which will include the video and the skin for the progress bar, volume etc and then reference this in another aspx page for the website.
I want to be able to have the same 'packaged' SWF file, as in the captivate, created from this FLV video. In Flash Proffessional, I've imported the FLV into the 'stage' and added a skin through the wizard. But trying to publish or other options, I've not been able to get this single 'packaged' SWF file to run correctly in the website, via the same apsx code as above.Am I missing a trick here? I would presume it would be fairly simple as I don't want to edit the video, more I want to embedded it with a skin in the one SWF file.

I am a Flash novice and ran into a problem when my Flash generated html file opens in Safari (I'm designing on a Mac) but would not open on a recipient's computer - a PC using IE. I'm using CS5 and set up the file for actionscript 2.0. I know one needs to be sensitive to the various browsers being used, but how does one go about that and how can I begin to troubleshoot my current problem? I didn't use any special coding...I don't know action script yet.

iv been having this problem with swf file iv created, it consist of images somewhat like a gallery. when played offline it works smoothly, navigating frame to frame / image by image. iv used AS3 to compose the animations in my flash file. now my problem is when its uploaded online, the swf is shown but once iv clicked on a link to proceed on showing the gallery it lags and continously loop when it should actualy stop on a frame and wait till the next button is clicked to procced to the next image. plus the animation iv added in doesn't seem to working at all.

I have a big problem - I decided to make a website using flash as I am good with photoshop and thought it would be fairly easy to construct in flash using tutorials. All went well except now the website is published, weird things happen. The homepage works fine but when you click on "portfolio" some of the buttons don't appear and when you try the buttons, some images don't appear. Occasionally some of the buttons take you to the wrong place also. When I test the movie in flash, everything works fine so I can't work it out. I am a complete novice so advice will have to be spelt out in black and white.

I was wondering if it's possible to include an swf within a javascript carousel that currently just contains stagic images. What I'm looking to do is include a flash animation within the carousel. I guess I've got two main questions: Is it possible to cycle through flash files in the same way as an image? How would I get the javascript and flash to interact so the flash file would know when it had been selected?

I am not new to html or flash but, some what new to XML. I created a carousel based off the tutorials and it works great on my computer but, when I create an html file and attach the .swf file the flash file loads but, the icon images or anything from the .xml file doesn't appear.This is what I use to load my .swf file :

My company recently contracted an outside web developer to create our new website. I have some experience with Flash, but not beyond basic timeline controls. I've been given the task to update the flash element that has a horizontal carousel. Inside, there's three series, each with 6 buttons. The controls are a left and right arrow button on either side. I added a new button into the series and moved each of the series so they no longer ovrlapped.The carousel should just rotate through continuously, but it returns to the start after 6 clicks. Please let me know if there is any other materials I need to provide. Did adding in another button change the positions in the code? If so, what do I need to do to fix it?
