change the width of the dynamic text field that each text nav item from the xml loads into so that the width changes depending on what is in the xml.
So the width of the button would change depending on the ammount of characters entered.
I love Senocular's XML-Driven Drop-Down Tutorial. But I can't seem to get it to make the menu headers look different from the submenus.

I have been working on building a XML menu and I have been able to create the main menu but I am not sure how to add the sub menu items in a drop down. I have included a zip file of my little test project which is CS4 and includes the fla and xml file.
The menu items consist of the following and the sub menu options are listed. As I said I have been able to create the main menu but I am not sure how to add and display the sub menus.[code]...
I've been taking advantage of kirupa's excellent tutorials for quite a while now, and lurked in the forums from time to time, but not registered until now. I'm finding myself having some problems that I seem to be unable to overcome, I've been trying to create a variant of the XML-driven drop-down menu that instead of displaying the submenus to the right of the mainmenu inserts them inbetween the mainmenu elements.[code]

But this doesnt always work, if say the final word of three is quite short and the second word splits over two lines then I still have 3 words and 3 lines.

I am trying to use Kirupa's XML drop down menu(action script 2.0): aka: [URL] however I cannot have it output the childNode. This is because it is using a for loop with the curr_item variable. when I try to trace the for loop count variable, it just returns the last for loop variable. I basically want it so that when I click on a button on the 3rd tier submenu, I want it to output all the prior tiers that the button belongs in.

I'm really new to AS3 and could use some help. I have a movieClip with a drag and drop functionality that's working fine but then inside this movieClip is a dynamic text field and it won't let me click over the text field to start dragging and if I click off to the side I can drag but the movieClip is automatically centered and then I can't drop because now the text field is under the mouse and it keeps saying:
ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property stopDrag not found on flash.text.TextField and there is no default value. at MethodInfo-10()

I've used the tutorial for the XML Driven Drop Down Menu to create the main navigation for a site i'm doing, it's all working fine except I want to keep the 'current' area highlighted after it's clicked on. The rollOver events are defined in the AS but when I tried adding a function to change the colour of the item it either had no effect or broke the nav eHere is the code (from Sen's tutorial modified with new actions):

View 1 RepliesI'm creating an XML-driven pie chart in AS3 with 2 text boxes in each pie slice. Both text fields are dynamic in the sense that they are populated by the XML doc and then told where to place themselves in the AS3. I've got them both using the same x and y position to place themselves at the moment (which of course puts them right one top of each other), but I'd like to make one of the fields (which acts like a label or a title to the larger number and % text field) place itself in a particular spot around the other text field. The result I'm looking for is to have the smaller "title" text field appear approximately 5 pixels above and left-justified to the larger "percentage" field.
Anyway, here are two sections of code that I've currently got. The first chunk, for the Tags portion, sets the position for the "percentage" text field using a good old x and y method. The second chunk, for Titles, is setting the position for the smaller "title" text.

Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
Is it possible to login through flash using one Dynamic Text Field and one Input Text Field and no buttons? If so how? I have seen many tutorials dealing with logging in to PHP using flash but it requires you to make your own php scripts which i am not familiar with. Can some one tell me how to do this with PHPBBs existing php scripts... I want to be able to login thorugh a Input Text Field box and have it verify it in PHP and also be able to register and view other PHP info such as users online and FAQ..

how to make a dynamic drop down menu? I mean I have a button I press it and it ones the drop down menu in a movieClip. I close the movieClip and I press another button and the drop down menu appears again but with different content. The length of the menu is given by the length of an array, and the content of the menu are colors that have to change every time I press another button.
