I'm building a dynamic menu and am struggling to give the same distance to the text fields with different widths. When I turn on the "autoSize TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT" some text fields are overlapped, and, aligned when I turn off, but, they all get the same size (100px by default - dont know why), which makes the distance between them unequal.

Here is the code:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Banner - Stage Width And Height Appear To Be Much Smaller

Apr 25, 2010

I'm a total beginner at ActionScript, and I'm running into a big problem with a Flash banner I'm writing. The problem is that my Stage width and height appear to be much smaller than the width and height specified in my and tags of the HTML. My goal is to get the Stage width and height to be equal to the and width and height, so that I can make commercial banners with full-size backgrounds.

The width x height specified in the and tags is 400 x 300. To force the Stage to be 400 x 300, I've added a 400 x 300 TextField as a child of my main Sprite object. As a diagnostic, I even printed the Stage's width and height as part of the TextField text content -- which confirmed that the Stage thinks it's at 400 x 300. I've tried different things to get it to work. I've tried playing around with the Stage's scaleMode property, using all the possible different values, but still the problem persists. Still, when viewed on the web page, the width and height of the Stage appears much smaller than the and/or tags which contains the Flash content area. I know this because I'm using colored backgrounds as a diagnostic.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Wrong Width Of Movieclip With Static Text Field?

Dec 3, 2010

I have a movieclip with static text inside of it. The width (correct one) of the movieclip is 204 px, this is what it even reports after dragging it from library to stage. However, if I export the movie and trace the width of the movieclip, I get 214 px. Inside of the clip is a static text field - it is not wider than the clip and it is not even filled up with text completely. Now if I change it to dynamic text and I export the movie, I get the correct width - 204.

Flex :: Data Binding - How To Adjust ComboBox Width

Sep 15, 2009

In Flex 3, I've created a ComboBox within an MXML component similar to the following:

<mx:ComboBox id="comboBox" dataProvider="{_choices}" />
<mx:Script>
import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;
// etc...
public function get choices():ArrayCollection { return _choices; }
[Code] .....

In the parent MXML application, I'm modifying the contents of the choices property:
myComponentId.choices.removeAll();
myComponentId.choices.addItem({data: "NY", label: "New York"});
myComponentId.choices.addItem({data: "CA", label: "California"});
// etc...

The binding is working in that the ComboBox is automatically picking up the new contents added at runtime, however it is not adjusting its width. The initial width of the ComboBox is wide enough only to show the initial item "All" declared in the component. However, I want and would have expected the ComboBox to re-size automatically during binding to be able to show "California", but it isn't. How can I get the ComboBox to update its width after I have added new wider labels to its dataProvider?
