Is it possible for a main clip to figure out if an external clip is fully loaded(no loading bars or info required) and then perform an action in the main timeline? and then once that extenal clip has finished playing to make the main clip again perform another action?
View 9 RepliesI Have a flashmovie thats almost done and will soon hit the internet, but I want to add some animations into the website it�s two gears that I�m about to put at the bottom of the page and when a button releases in the main flashmovie the two bottom gears will turn a few frames and just stand still.These three movies are all separate (main movie, first gear and second gear).
It's a homepage designed in HTML and flash that has this "main flashmovie" in the middle of the screen, the size is about 1500(width)X800(height). And the gears is about 800wX200h placed at the left and right side bottom of the page. Dont worry the site is easy to apply to any screen resolution.I have been looking everywhere for any soul out there who suffering from the same problem but no success. Is it possible to script a button in the main movie to launch two separate movies in their own contents?
I have created a main "site.swf" file that loads a "default.swf" file into a container after a preloader. On this default.swf file I have buttons that needs to load new external SWF files in its place in the container. All of the external SWFs contain buttons and navigations that will also call up other external SWFs into this container. So, I would like to know how to program each button (some are movieclips as buttons) to unload itself and load the respective SWF into the container (eg. AboutUsButton to call up aboutus.swf into the container). I do not have a main navigation on the site.swf file bacause the navigation changes on each SWF that needs to be loaded into the container.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to get a nav button in one movie (main_nav.swf) to target a my main movie (index.swf) and load a sub nav movie (metals_subnav_infinite.swf) into it. The sub nav movie will do a similar task - loading a portfolio swf into main movie (index.swf). View 2 RepliesI am creating I guess what you could call a swf library. It's a bunch of different interactive swfs all packaged up into a main swf that I can embed on my page. Each swf contains flv's that play. They all work great in my main swf and individually, that's not my problem.Everything is working great but I have a menu that pops up to change between different episodes and it works great.BUTWhat I'm looking to do is when you click on the menu button and the menu pops up over the externally loaded swf, I want the externally loaded swf to pause. Then when you close the menu I want it to un pause. It looks really tacky when the menu pops up and the flv's in the externally loaded swfs keep running. I knew how to pause them in as2 but only from the swf they were actually in.
This is my code (this all works) I just can't figure out code to add that will pause everything when the menu pops up ...box is what I named an empty box on stagetop_btn is the button that launches the menu

Like, lets say you load an swf into a container clip inside the main.swf's timeline, but need to get things to happen in the main one from the external one...
in as2 you used to just be able to go, say _parent._parent.main.gotoAndPlay("whatever");
I'm using the following code to load an external SWF into my main SWF. The code is called inside of a button function. The code works TOO well. The external SWF loads multiple times on top of each other.

I'm loading an external SWF to a main SWF. The external SWF is a dynamic video gallery. When I test my movie, I click to load my external SWF. It load ok and functions perfect. Then if I click on a back button to return to my inicial view, I have I get an error that says:Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2036: Load Never Completed.It's funny because I already used the same code in another project and this problem never came up.The code on my main SWF is:[code]

But I have on the stage in first frame also another objects - movieClips. If I click on some movieclip, than it means to go to nextFrame. But when I return to first frame, where is also object with click handler gotoJob and I click on it, it does not load the swf.

external SWF 1 plays and when it finishes, it loads the SWF 2.inside the loader SWF, there are MC-buttons which can control which swf will be played.i want it to be dynamic so i used XML.there are 5 external swfs and 5 MC-buttons. when i update the xml, i want loader SWF to display only 4 external SWFs and 4 MC-buttons.update:the xml is being loaded but it wont load the SWFs. heres th AS and xml

I have a holder swf called holder.swf
Within this i am loading in external swf files. Each externally loaded swf is put into each frame of the loader page.
I have created a string to navigate through the timeline when either next_btn or prev_btn is pressed.
The probelm im having is that in one swf file there are two buttons which determin which way the story goes (eg. with pressing yes_btn goes to section2 with no_btn go to section2a)
How do i communicate from this externally loaded swf to affect the main timeline of my holder swf.
In the current flash project im working on I load an external .swf into the main .swf, the external .swf contains sound loops and movieclips which they are attached to. In the main .swf there are buttons which trigger the sounds to stop and start.the problem im having is that the sounds wont play when the button is pressed, when everything is in one file it all works fine, so i believe the problem is to do with the reference to the external file.

I have my main swf that has a container called "mc_dropphotos" where I have:loadMovie("photo_scroll.swf",_root.mc_dropphotos);In the photo_scroll.swf there are movieclips that I want to get the x coordinate of and do something in the main swf by:if (mc_dropphotos.mcPhoto1._x < -4.15){etc.which is the path syntax I thought you use for checking properties from an external swf. I have tried _root.mc_dropphotos.mcPhoto1._x , _root.mcPhoto1._x, _root.mc_dropphotos.mcPhotos.mcPhoto1._x, c_dropphotos.mcPhotos.mcPhoto1._x and none of them work either.

Works great, main swf preloads, then begins to play. On frame 5 it calls my external swf using:

It calls the external swf directly onto level 1 of the main swf at the location and alpha specified. I need this external swf to preload! I want to use the exact same method as the code I used for the main preloader, but it conflicts....being that it uses _root, _parent? However, being new to actionscript, I have no idea what "paths" need to be changed to make this work and not conflict.
The basis of this question is why my code won't work to preload an external swf into my main swf. I have a main swf this calls the external swf using:

I've attached an example fla like the external swf I'm trying to load, and you can see the preloader I'm using in that file. All that happens when this swf is brought in is a quick flash of the outline for the preloader and then the swf starts playing. It's not just because of the small size either, because no matter how big I've made the swf, that's all it ever does. I think it must have something to do with referring to _root, but I don't know how to change it! To test it add a large pic or sound file on the frame that I just drew a rectangle.
I have been going crazy all weekend trying to figure this out. All I want to do is communicate with the main timeline from a loaded external swf. So, I have loaded a external swf called "test.swf" from the main swf called "basetest.swf"So, on basetest.swf I have this code, simply loading test.swf:

Nav1 is clicked and loads in external swf. In the swf that was just loaded there is button to call another external swf on the main movie's timeline. I'm trying make a "lightbox" effect. Where you click on the external swf and the screen darkens and a swf is loaded on top of it. Above the loaded swf. Of course on a new layer.

I'm definitely more designer than flash developer (as most of you might know. At least those that hang in the lounge or Arena). I need to know how to allow a loaded .swf file to control the main timeline in AS3.
I have a container .swf that includes global controls (jump menu/volume control) and branding. Loading a swf for the dialogue boxes (timeline animated ... although I realize there may be better ways to handle it). Another swf for a simcity-ish illustration that has animated elements with various states. I need all to be able to communicate with each other. I was able to load the movies no problem. Even communicate with the loaded ones from the main timeline. Just need to be able to go the other way.

View 13 RepliesI'm building a website, in which the 'Gallery Page' has a link to an external swf file, which is a scrolling clip of thumbnails.
What I want to do, is create each thumbnail into a button, which will then play a Movie Clip from a frame located in the Main swf file. (So basically, each thumbnail button is a small photo, will play that photo in a large scale as a movie)
eg.
thumbnail1_btn needs to go to main swf and play movieclip1.mc, frame 1
thumbnail2_btn nends to go to main swf and play movieclip1.mc, frame 2
At the moment I am working on a flash website. There is a main swf with the menu, which loads external swfs as subpages. These external swfs contain some html text. Now I want to have a link inside this html text to another subpage.

I have a project where I am externally loading .swfs into my main scene. However at the end of my external .swfs I want it to go back to the first frame of my main .swf. I have used this code MovieClip(root).gotoAndPlay("start"); but I get this error
ArgumentError: Error #2109: Frame label start not found in scene Scene 1.
and I understand why I get the error because the frame label start isn't in that external flash file it is in the main one. However, I just don't know the correct AS3 to get this to work properly.
I have a main fla file that loads an external swf into a holder mc, let's call it 'swfloaderholder', when a menu item clicked. Inside the external swf's fla I have a holder mc, let's call it, 'jpgloaderholder' that loads different jpegs. Is there a way to 'talk' to the 'jpgloaderholder' from witin the main fla file?
View 5 RepliesI have one swf that was made by Wondershare Flash Gallery Factory Deluxe program, and some other files comes with it.
The problem is that when it loads into my main swf doesn't appear into the movieclip that i target to the code but on the stage, on top of all others, i don't know exactly what happens, it seems not to be in the display list!!!
The point is that i'd like a back button showing in front of the gallery in order to be able to close it and go back.
