I'm trying to load a bunch of code from a text file. It's bombing at the point it sees the < and > characters (i.e., it just stops rendering beyond that point). I've tried the %3e and %3c solutions, no go.

I've done this dozens of time before but for some reason any new dynamic text boxes I make will not properly render the HTML in them even with the HTML control turned on.
I'm using CS3 with Actionscript 3, targeting player 9. I've tried AS 2, and different players all to no avail. I've tried embedding fonts, and not embedding fonts with no change in behavior noticed. I do want to use AS 3 (and wrote a bunch of code for it in a different file already), but even in a new empty file I'm still seeing this behavior.
I've made a real simple (one line!) file with a text box to demonstrate.
I have a custom ActionScript component that I'm using in a Flex application (Flex 3.3, ActionScript 3). This component contains an Image control whose visibility is set dynamically based on a property of the data element provided to the component. The problem is that even when I set the image to be visible, it will not render onscreen. Is there something specific I need to do in order for the image to render? Snippets of relevant code below:

I have a dynamic text on the stage which gets updated (shows numbers) when some buttons are pressed.I just need to know if it is possible to show the first dynamic textfield in another dynamic textfield.Lets say the first dynamic textfield called "price" and the second one called "price2". when a button is pressed, the first dynamic textfield "price" will show a number. is it possible to show whatever is shown in the "price" in "price2" ?
View 1 RepliesI'm creating an XML-driven pie chart in AS3 with 2 text boxes in each pie slice. Both text fields are dynamic in the sense that they are populated by the XML doc and then told where to place themselves in the AS3. I've got them both using the same x and y position to place themselves at the moment (which of course puts them right one top of each other), but I'd like to make one of the fields (which acts like a label or a title to the larger number and % text field) place itself in a particular spot around the other text field. The result I'm looking for is to have the smaller "title" text field appear approximately 5 pixels above and left-justified to the larger "percentage" field.
Anyway, here are two sections of code that I've currently got. The first chunk, for the Tags portion, sets the position for the "percentage" text field using a good old x and y method. The second chunk, for Titles, is setting the position for the smaller "title" text.

Just to give you a little background, I am using CS4 and AS3, publishing to FP9. I am embedding fonts dynamically at runtime and there seems to be an issue with my dynamic 'html' text field when I have <b> tags within the CDATA.
In some cases, Flash seems to be rendering the bold text too close to the preceding character. Sometimes, even overlapping the preceding character. For the most part, this appears to be happening when the bold text appears at the end of the line before the text is wrapped.
I will note that, any text in the xml file wrapped in <b></b> tags is actually appearing bold, so I don't think it has anything to do with font embedding. In case it does, here is how I am embedding the font groups:

When a user enters a number into the page count it makes a calculation and places the outcome into the dynamic textfield. This textfield is for the individual price.All of this so far works. What I want to do now is create another dynamic textfield for the total. So the individual price is multiplied by the quantity and this result is put in the new dynamic text field. I have the code for that working but here is where it gets tricky (for me anyway).The total price is to start off invisible. When I roll over the individual price the total price is to appear (For a test lets just say when I roll over an area the total price appears).To stop cursor flickering this should be done inside a movieclip. I'm trying to input a dynamic text field into many dynamic movies. I use a for loop to successfully create 18 movies. I can't seem to get the text to be input dynamically however. 2. If I type <div>Test</div> into the text box and hit Ctrl-Enter, it displays the text "<div>Test</div>"
3. Same thing if I enter <a href="#">Test</a>
The text is not rendered as HTML...
Tried importing an XML into the Dynamic Text box: same results. Tried HTMLEncoding the values as <div> and it says <div>.
Perhaps the "Render Text as HTML" means HTMLencoding. Anyone know how to set it to "render the HTML tags"?
What I'm trying to do is to write something in an input field and then it should show up in a dinamic field. I can make this happen, but the problem is that the dinamic field shows its new text in the same format as the Input field. For example, the input text is written in TimesNewRoman and the dinamic text is in Arial, but when the dinamic text shows the input, the text is still in TimesNewRoman when I want it to be in Arial.

Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.

I'm using C3S Flash and working in a button. The text on the button is set to 'dynamic' and I'm trying to display an array value in the 'var' field.
Is there any way I can use an array value in a dynamic text field? I can display the entire array by putting the 'menuarray' name into the text 'var' field, but if I try to display a subset of the array like 'menuarray[0][1]' it displays nothing, even though this subset holds a value (it shows up fine in the trace window).
Is there any way to get around creating dozens of variables just to display array items?

For instance, in some instances I would have a dynamic field with two lines, and I would want to center it between two other dynamic fields- but only after the text has been populated. Maybe a better way of explaining it would be changing the spacing of elements on a page so they're always equidistant from one another.

This is driving me crazy. I have a function and a dynamic text field on the main time line. With in my function I assign the a value to text field. I then want to trace the value of the text field. The text field is called spacerText
I know this is a lot of code but about half way down I have line of code
spacerText.text = _root["press_mc1"+i]._y=80+(i*20);
this places a value in the text field of 80. There are some other things going on here but the end value is 80.
then at the very bottom outside the function I have

There seem to be a lot of people with my problem but all sorts of different things fixed their issue. None of that has worked for me:
Embedding the font
rendering text as html
making the font _sans
changing AA method
im sure I've tried some other random stuff as well..
Basically I've created an order form over multiple pages for products.. everything works.. on the last page which i have named overview I have a script on the top layer which basically fills out 3 dynamic text fields with the products they have ordered.
The script works.. it loads the text into the textfields they are just not visible.
I can even select the text when I enable "Make text selectable".
