i have an xml file, that has lets say n nodes. in the .fla file, i have a list, that is bound to the xml schema, taking the name from each of the node. i have some AS scripted to this list, which includes the total number of fields. how do i get that number, as a general (like n, or totalIndex [dunno if exists], not a number)
View 1 Repliesyou may quickly determine I am totally new to flash and actionscript. Tried learning it a while back but got distracted and just started over. Trying something that I thought would be real simple only to discover that nothing about AS is simple... So I wanted and play a movie via an XML generated list. Followed one of the tutorials here and tried to adapt it for video. The list works and the path for the video traces properly but for some reason the video never appears on the stage. I can take out the variable "vid" and put the path in manually without changing the structure and it works fine. Can someone point out my error. And if I am totally doing this wrong I am open to criticism as long as its constructive.

Is there a direct way to get the item index of the data inside an itemRenderer? I need to display the item number against each item. I am currently doing a workaround and won't allow reuse of my itemRenderer component.

I have a bunch of objects that i add to an array.Each of these objects know of their position in the array.Each of these objects can remove themselves from the array with the slice command.example would be great, was thinking something along the lines of hashtable, but couldent find one in the docs.Speed is of importance. The objects are entities in a game im making, so looping through the entire array to find themselves is not an option.

I change an item in Spark List. The item then moves to a different index in the list since I keep the List's dataProvider sorted. However, the selectedIndex stays where the item used to be. I want the List's selectedIndex to still be on the item that changed.

So, for sending to individual streams we have to reference the connected netStream we want to send to in some way like this:

and I have to determine which peer I'm sending to by their ID such as "peerID1234"
I know that you can check the peerID of the stream by doing:
sendStream.peerStreams[0]["farID"]
how can I make my send stream function know to use the array index where the peerID is?

I'm using flex 4.1 to write an application. i read in the documents that has the rowCount property to set how many items to display. the does not have that property. how can I limit the list to display 3 items ?

I have traced out the contents of the List MC and it has a child MC called 'content_mc'. I assumed this was the object containing all of my list items but the only members of this MC I can see (when tracing them out) are 'setRGB' and 'searchKey'.

I also what to be able to sort the displayed list items. e.g if the list items is about restaurants, i want users to be able to sort the displayed items by either; district, cusine type and gastro type.
I have a combobox and list component on the stage. The combobox has 3 selections. How do I get it so that each selection triggers the specific xml file to load into the list component? I can't get them to communicate to each other.

The 'recommendations' dataProvider is an ArrayCollection of String, which are generally sentences about as long as this one. By setting the variableRowHeight and wordWrap properties as shown, if a sentence is too long to fit on a single line, everything works fine- the row expands and the messages show on two lines, or occasionally three.
The space allocated for this panel within the entire canvas means if the total text size of 'recommendations' exceeds six lines, I need for the entire list scroll. This is also working just fine. The trouble is when using the mouse wheel to do the scrolling- Flex scrolls both the entire list and the single item where the mouse is hovering. Often this results in only the second half of a sentence being visible. Non-programmer friends I have asked to look at this noticed this, and tell me it as a problem. If a user does not notice the dual scrolling, and sees only a fragment of a sentence, it will be perceived as an error in the application.

I want to add a SimpleButton to a list item in a list component. I am getting the CellRenderer for the list item I want and using the addChild method to add the simple button. The button appears in the right spot on the list item but it doesn't function like a button. It's like the contents of the buttons first frame is added to the CellRenderer and nothing else.

I'm trying to animate a list as I delete the top row. All the examples I can find use itemsChangeEffect to bind to the effect, but this property exists only in MX lists, not spark lists.
Any idea how I can get the same effect done in Spark Lists?
I'm trying to remove the top most item in the list with a slight fade out effect before the rest of the items move up to replace the gap.

It works very good, In this line, I get de current time of the flv:

And I need to display the total time too. By the way, I am not using the any flv component, I need to play the video in a custom player....

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to make a very simple flash game for my college project. The players will get 1 point each time they click on certain object. I've created 3 scenes and each of the scene has score value. I want to total up the score at Scene3. FYI, I use:
1st Action Script add this to the variables frame:
_root.total = 00;
2nd Action Script add this to each of the hit sections in the Action Script frame:
_root.total = Number (total) +1;
how to add up the scores from Scene 1,2 & 3?
