ActionScript 2.0 :: Using Loading XML Data In Flash?

I'm going thru the kirupa example of using loading XML data in flash. I came across this example, most of the logic makes sense to me but I don't understand the syntax

what does movieclip.target mean? I am trying to read XML data from a SharePoint site. The issue I am having is that the flash project works just fine when I preview the swf in flash, however when I try to view it in HTML it does not load the XML file.Now the XML file is not a simple document that can live in the same folder as the swf. I have to use a link to a web page. This is the code that I am using (sorry. had to change the web address)

My XML looks as follows [code]In my folder I have the XML as shown. There are 6 images in the folder and the names are given as urls. I have a combo box on stage. Its name myCB. There is an image holder imgHolder_mc.I have two tasks.Populate the combo box with the imageNames.Based on the imageName selected the image in the image holder must change. I have a flash swf loading data from an xml via jsp from the same domain. The swf is displaying the data perfectly fine from where I am at and for most of my user. However, one of my most important user report to me that the flash isn't displaying the data.
So here lies my question. At first, I thought it was merely an Flash player not up to date problem, but that user said he's using flash player 10 already and he has tested it with all sorts of browser. I have also try connecting to the website from that user's area, and it appears to be fine as well.
Base on the user's feedback, he was able to load the flash, but the xml data just won't appear. Somehow, I believe that it could be an individual computer's problem, but since I am no expert in the networking, and am having some trouble solving this problem,

I have a Flash MP3 player that loads the song list from an XML file. I'm trying to set it up to take the customer to the online store to purchase the currently playing song. The player successfully loads the track name, artist name, and url to the song, but for some reason does not appear to the load the new attribute of buylink that I have just added. Given the code below, my buylink value is returned as undefined.

What I am trying to do is bring data in from (mysql)PHP into flash 8 (actionscript 2.0). I got part of this to work. I bring in the text and diplays just fine. So the next step was, To set the font size from anothere php loadvars (code below). Flash will not pick up that part of the code, were I set the font size.

it took me so long to write this tutorial Well, here I go... Section 1: Introduction So you want dynamic content on your Flash movie. Sounds simple, right? Well let me tell it is, and well, it isn't. This tutorial assumes a basic knowledge of Actionscript, PHP and MySQL. If you have that, it's time to move on. Otherwise, I recommend you do some reading on the subjects... Section 2: Setting up your SWF to receive external data Loading external data into an SWF is a fairly simple task. Although the external text file method is probably the most widely known, it is by far the clumsiest way to get data into your SWF. Dynamic text fields In order for Flash to get data from an external source, you need to make use of dynamic text fields. When retrieving external variables from the server URLVariables my Flash get stuck on first compilation values. Whenever I update server values flash compiles the first old values. Only after i restart CS4 IDE values are updated. Is there an internal cache?
There is nothing wrong with my code, because it works fine on my mac, but not on pc.
I'm coding a website in pure AS3 using FlashDevelop and have an object that loads an XML file on init. Is there a good way to make my main function wait until it has finished loading? I know about onComplete events and how to use them internally in the object but I'm not sure how to proceed.
I have created real-time data loading flash file. I'm loading realtime data in dynamic text filed using variable. From JavaScript, I'm pushing the data into those dynamic text fields with 10 seconds interval.
Now I want to animate the dynamic text fields when the new data load into the text filed.

Is it possible to make this work with flash? As far as I know, the file has to at least start with something like Variablename=string for me to even load the entire thing as a string which I would then attempt to split into useful pieces.
Is it possible to "read" a text from a website that is updated from javascript like currency-quotes on this website directly from flash/AIR?It would be very time consuming to load the whole website each time. Therefore it would be nice to interact directly with the javascript.

I have an ASPX script that load the properties of a long list of objects from database (about 1000).
Then I have a spinning mc to entertain the user while data is loaded.
The problem is that it starts to spin, and then, at certain point of data reading the animation freezes indicating that Flash is too busy gathering and putting data into the LoadVars object (it restarts to spin after finish data reading).
Question is: there is a way to override this and force Flash to give priority to the animation? I think that's a very ugly behavior by the point of view of user and would be nice if it could be fixed.
Personally I cannot see another way to turnaround it but performing several smaller and consecutives database readings (to reduce CPU load), but I think that's a totally unaceptable solution...
I am loading images and data into flash via XML. Some bits of data are missing an image or just don't have one for various reasons. When the image URL is null flash returns the message TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter url must be non-null. I have been trying to catch this error using IO error event but I am unsure if this is the the correct method for doing this as I can't seem to get it working. This is causing a problem for me because when I add the items to the stage the data doesn't match the images and what I would like to do once I am able to capture this error is push a default image into the _trackArray which i will then use to add items to the stage.
I am attempting to get data from an xml file load in flash. I followed a tutorial in a new fla and it seemed to work fine, I then tried to adapt it to my own needs which worked fine. But then when trying to implement this into my news section it doesn't seem to work. I am trying to make a news section, that displays the date and news article. This is in within a movie clip, I even tried putting it in the timeline of the scene but still nothing.

I have a simple Google Maps API with external data loaded from XML file (location, lat, long, info etc.). I also have a custom marker as a MovieClip (marker_mc), which works fine, but I want to add a Dynamic Text Field (label_txt) to this MovieClip and load a simple data (<label>) to it from same XML file (distribubtion.xml), so as a result every location would have it's own label on the marker.I know how flash loads XML data, but what I don't know is how to include that in Google Maps API (if it's even possible).
