ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Loading XML Data To Dynamic Text Field Inside MC In Google Maps API?
Aug 26, 2011
I have a simple Google Maps API with external data loaded from XML file (location, lat, long, info etc.). I also have a custom marker as a MovieClip (marker_mc), which works fine, but I want to add a Dynamic Text Field (label_txt) to this MovieClip and load a simple data (<label>) to it from same XML file (distribubtion.xml), so as a result every location would have it's own label on the marker.I know how flash loads XML data, but what I don't know is how to include that in Google Maps API (if it's even possible).
I creating a flash app that loads a RSS of a plublic map with a custom route path and draws lines from the coordinates on a Away3D Sphere. It works preety well when I'm testing locally, but when I publish online, the app can't load the RSS. I think Google Maps disable access from other domains.Does anyone knows another way to access this map RSS directly from google? Now to fix this, I'm hosting the RSS.
I have combed the Web and I can't seem to find the answer. All I want to do is display some html-formatted text, located within an external XML file, in a dynamic text field in Flash CS3.
I don't have any code to supply because at this point the only thing I'm trying to display in the text field is "<b>This</b> is a <a href="http://www.google.com">test</a>." For this hypothetical example, I could call the text field myTextField. I just need to know how to format the AS3 code to get the XML to display inside myTextField.
I want to load text into a dynamic text field (called 'about_tab') using a class depending on the language selected (by clicking on a flag icon) by the user.
I managed to get this to work when the ActionScript was written directly in the timeline, but am having problems with doing the same thing via a class.
When I run it, it returns my trace statements that the class ChangeLang and the function xmlLoaded are running, but no text appears in the dynamic text field (I should/want to see the word 'About'). I get this error message:
I tried to adopt this recipe by shane doolan see below(source: [URL]). I could pull data from mysql with php (like so [URL]) and overlay on the map however I couldn't get the data load too the mxml custom infowindow when clicking on markers. Here's the mxml application:
I've got a dynamic text field in my button object. I have named the text field "myText". How can I modify the text within it? myButton.myText.text = "test"; won't work, because it can't access myText.
I have created a site for my relative's garden. They have already registered there location and info with google maps and I have already installed the api in the site. I also, already have the map located on their location with an pin over it, but I was trying to figure out how to make the map pull the information that pops up when you click that pin. Do I need to create that myself or is there a way I can pull that from google? Here is a link to the site: [URL]
I'm trying to load a simple variable &myVar from a php file into my flash movie, that's a blank movie with just actionscript in it.I tried to load this &myVar into a dynamic Text field and it works fine, but I can't get this value into a flash variable to manipulate it with actionscript.. Must be simple.. My actionscript it
I got a music portfolio web site running PHP, MySQL and Flash. There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]
I have 2 input textfields on the stage and 1 dynamic textfield.
-input1 is for quantity
-input2 is for page count
When a user enters a number into the page count it makes a calculation and places the outcome into the dynamic textfield. This textfield is for the individual price. All of this so far works. What I want to do now is create another dynamic textfield for the total. So the individual price is multiplied by the quantity and this result is put in the new dynamic text field. I have the code for that working but here is where it gets tricky (for me anyway). The total price is to start off invisible. When I roll over the individual price the total price is to appear (For a test lets just say when I roll over an area the total price appears). To stop cursor flickering this should be done inside a movieclip. So... I have create a movieclip and placed a dynamic textfield inside it. They all have instance names BUT how do I reference it in script?I need to tell the resulting calculation to be placed inside the textfield which is inside the movieclip. If it isn't inside a movie clip I can do it. But how to I reference it when inside one?
I have a text inside a xml file and i would like to display this text in a dynamic text field, using the xmlConnector. The files are at the following address:[url]............
Does anyone know if it's at all possible to embedd a google maps image that's created using code generated by google? The Image is interactive, the main reason to embedd in flash as apposed to a flat image.
I am using the google maps API with regular key (not premier). When connecting to my server with http, everything works fine, but when connecting with https i receive the following instead of map: initialization failed please check the API key swf location, version and network availability. Is that because it is not premier key? can I force the google maps API to use http instead of https so that I will receive the maps?
how close to a google maps like interface can be created in flash. Could this be a new opensource project? What the project needs:
-Be customizable via xml (load any map you want zooming options etc) -Load maps dynamicaly acording to zoom level -Easy to scale (this way it can be viewed in regular compters as well as mobile devices) -Easy to plot points and save to db or xml file -As you drag map to one side it would load map images to fill empty space created.
This is probably easy stuff for most of you guys but have tried to have this working for the past hour and it's not working.I basicly have made my own button which is a movieclip. Inside the movieclip on the normal/roll off state i've put a dynamic textfieldwith instance name "textbtn" my button is supposed to span 2 frames on my mainstage, thought is need to say something different in each frame.
Sofar I have this inside the movieclip on Frame 1:
Having a problem displaying a dynamic text field inside a movie clip - when I test / publish the movie, the text field is empty my movie clip has the instance name: Main In main Movie Clip there is another movie clip instant name is : login The dynamic text field (Inside the movie clip login) has the instance name: myText How can I chang the dynamic text inside the login movie clip using AS3 ?
I've got a flash movie with a menu that jumps to a particular frame to load a page. On that frame, there is a movie clip (instance name: scrollbox_frame), and in that movie clip there is a four-layer animation. One of the layers is not animated but contains a dynamic text box (instance name: about_frame), with multi-line and HTML turned on, and a variable name of "aboutus". This is the code that is triggered by the menu button on the root of the flash movie:
Code: myVariables = new LoadVars(); myVariables.load("text1.txt"); myVariables.onLoad = function(success){
I'm experimenting with the XML help files provided on the LiveDocs website and I was wondering how you would display XML datas in a dynamic text string. For instance I have a Dynamic Text Field called "textfield". This is my code.
I am trying to load xml data into a dynamic text field. I am able to load, and trace the data but cannot display it into a dynamic field. Here is what i have:
Code: var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader() xmlLoader.load(new URLRequest("directory.xml")); xmlLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, showXML);
[code]....
What I am trying to achieve, is to produce what I've traced into the dynamic field. Also if there is a way to do that when a button has been clicked. I tried making the function showXML a mouse event, but it didn't work.
Is it possible to login through flash using one Dynamic Text Field and one Input Text Field and no buttons? If so how? I have seen many tutorials dealing with logging in to PHP using flash but it requires you to make your own php scripts which i am not familiar with. Can some one tell me how to do this with PHPBBs existing php scripts... I want to be able to login thorugh a Input Text Field box and have it verify it in PHP and also be able to register and view other PHP info such as users online and FAQ..
Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
I'm trying to write a test page which a customer can send us to identify whether they can use various parts of our site. Typical support stuff I guess.Anyway, the test for flash is straightforward enough, but can anyone suggest how I might test if they can access the Google Maps API on their browser?
I have a simple Map and geocoding sample in Flash using CS4.The problem is simple - I can retrieve a short list from the google search api, but when I try to generate the icons on the map using a loop, only the last icon is displayed. (ignore the house icon, it is generated earlier)
I feel I am missing something or made a stupid AS3 mistake (like treating it as if it was c#) - or even a stupid wood-for-the-trees mistake. The problem is in the last line of the code
I'm working on a project, written in AS3. I'm using the Google Maps API to load different maps, add custom markers, ... All that works, but I'd like to create something different. Imagine it being an application to create an itinerary. There are 10 markers on my map, and the user could click all of them to create an itinerary between those markers. I've tried with Polyline, but that only creates lines from one point to the other without following the actual roads. Then I've found out about the existence of "Directions" and "Route" in the Google Maps API, but I can't wrap my head around that. Or I'm doing something really wrong. Also, that is for one point to the other - mine needs to have multiple waypoints. I've found dozens of examples on how to do it with JavaScript, but the project HAS to be made in AS3. (Yeah, ... I know) If there's anyone who could give me a push in the right direction,
I am creating a project in Flash using the Google Maps API and docs. I'm trying to add a marker to the map, which is draggable but I don't want it to look like the standard Google Maps bubble-style marker. Is it possible to have a custom polygon or image but still keep the draggability?
