I got a music portfolio web site running PHP, MySQL and Flash. There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]

View 1 RepliesI need the use of the chars â„¢ and ® but only the latter appears. I'm using a loadVars object and an external .txt file which is loading with success, but where I need the phrase "Soo Bahk Doâ„¢ Moo Duk Kwan®," I only get "Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan®" Why doesn't "â„¢" load?
Edit: I'd like to add that I have chosen to embed all uppercase,lowercase, and punctuation marks, and I additionally added â„¢ and ® to ensure they'd appear, but, the trademark logo still does not appear.
I have combed the Web and I can't seem to find the answer. All I want to do is display some html-formatted text, located within an external XML file, in a dynamic text field in Flash CS3.
I don't have any code to supply because at this point the only thing I'm trying to display in the text field is "<b>This</b> is a <a href="http://www.google.com">test</a>." For this hypothetical example, I could call the text field myTextField. I just need to know how to format the AS3 code to get the XML to display inside myTextField.

View 5 RepliesI have a dynamic textfield being populated with an xml files' content. I then have a css stylesheet loaded into format the text. This all works great, but what doesn't work is the ability to bold some of the words in that text. I have both the regular and bold versions of the font embedded into the swf, I can test out just a bold block of text and it works fine. The css is also working as it will change the size of the text that I tell it to. Everything is working, but for some reason I am not able to get the bolder version of the font to display in the same text box as the regular one. I have also tried to change fonts but had the same outcome.

Ok, so I've read up on the TextArea class in Livedocs, and i've been looking at XML explanations and their implementation into Flash for about a week. I've tried this EXACT code on another Flash document, except on the main stage instead of embedded inside of a
separate movie clip, and it worked perfectly. Can anyone explain why the text won't display in the TextArea? Does it have something to do with it being inside of a movieclip and that being placed on the Main Stage? (By the way, proxy.xml is just a copy of the xml produced by my CFM proxy for easier usage, in case you were wondering.
I am using an xml file to display text in a flash file. It works fine when it?s horizontal but I need to display the text vertical, the screens that will be playing the flash will be rotated 90 degrees so that they are in portrait view. When I do this the text does not display at all.

On that frame, there is a movie clip (instance name: scrollbox_frame), and in that movie clip there is a four-layer animation. One of the layers is not animated but contains a dynamic text box (instance name: about_frame), with multi-line and HTML turned on, and a variable name of "aboutus". This is the code that is triggered by the menu button on the root of the flash movie:

View 1 RepliesI have a Flash output file that uses both LoadVars and XMLConnectors. While LoadVars all work on all tested browsers, XMLConnector does something very strange and ONLY on Internet Explorer. When I try to use it, the listeners for the XMLConnector say send (using GET Method), status is correct (StatusChange), but the data that returns is crazy (outputs 11). I am suppose to get a full xml data stream, but all I get is 11. This happens in IE (PC) only. In Netscape on PC or Mac) it is fine, on Firefox (PC or Mac) is it fine, on Safari it is fine. SO, has anyone able to use the XMLConnector properly on IE (FP8)? The parameters for the problem are: Flash Player 8, Internet Explorer 6, PC.
View 3 RepliesI have a scroll pane that is linked to a movie clip with a dynamic text field. The scroll pane expands automatically based on the length of the dynamic text field. I would also like to have the dynamic text field expand automatically to fit the dynamic content from an external .txt file if there is too much text to fit in the default text field length.

I've been making a simple RSS reader flash widget for my webpage. It works perfectly when I test it locally, but when I publishit, I always get the No.Data.Received error. I've played with allthe parameters on the XMLConnector and all the publish settings,but no dice.The only thing that I can think of is that I'm loading RSSfrom a different site, but it isn't restricted in any way.

Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.

View 1 RepliesI have developped a actionScript interface which connects a mySQL database to get data trough an XMLConncetor and fill a datagrid on the stage. When I test the swf locally with the SWFplayer it works perfectly. To make long story short, the xmlConnector connects the database and fill the datagrid. You can modify the data by clicking on buttons because they are bounded to xmlconnector and this one update the database and the refresh function opf the datagrid works.
The problem comes when I upload the swf on a web server and I try to connect the database. The first connection is okay but when I click on buttons, the request is sended to the database but the datagrid is not updated, even if I set an intervall or I code a function wich refresh the data...However, in IE, if you erase the cache and reload the page, modifications are there...

I am going to display some dynamic NON ENGLISH TEXT in flash. Now the problem is it is fine with the English text but If I put some other languages then the display is something horrible. I tried by embedding the dynamic text field for all.
I have tried by saving the xml file as �UTF-8�, �Unicode� but the result is the same.
When I put in the XML � This is only for test� the text displayed properly. But if I put �Revela��o� in place of �This is only for test� then the result is horrible and it does not display the text properly.

Within the timer function I have a variable that increments every second,
i.e second = second +1; I'm tracing that out and it counts up nicely on the trace output.
