I got a music portfolio web site running PHP, MySQL and Flash. There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]

I would like to be able to dynamically populate a dynamictext field (assuming that's the best component to use) with anarray of data from PHP.I have attached my PHP code and my Flash Code.The PHP code is working fine and generating the array.The first part of the AS code is working as I can see thepop-up window with the PHP array in it. However, I can't figure outhow to get the array to display in the dynamic text box.I have created a dynamic text box in flash with nothing inthe 'instance name' box and 'events' in the var box.

I need the use of the chars â„¢ and ® but only the latter appears. I'm using a loadVars object and an external .txt file which is loading with success, but where I need the phrase "Soo Bahk Doâ„¢ Moo Duk Kwan®," I only get "Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan®" Why doesn't "â„¢" load?
Edit: I'd like to add that I have chosen to embed all uppercase,lowercase, and punctuation marks, and I additionally added â„¢ and ® to ensure they'd appear, but, the trademark logo still does not appear.

I have a scroll pane that is linked to a movie clip with a dynamic text field. The scroll pane expands automatically based on the length of the dynamic text field. I would also like to have the dynamic text field expand automatically to fit the dynamic content from an external .txt file if there is too much text to fit in the default text field length.
Here is the code I am using to get the .txt files:

Does anyone know why the first part of my CSS formatted is the only part that shows? I know the rest of my text is formatted correctly because I can erase the first part, and only show the other portion. I just want to be able to load a decent size set of text into a text block I am making with a scrollbar.

I am a DBA and I provide data to the developers at my companyin XML format. The developers create Flash graphics and use the XMLto populate data variables. I want to start requiring thedevelopers to make calls directly to my MySQL databases so anytimei have to make a change to the underlying data, I don't get stuckgenerating an updated XML file for the developers.My developers tell me a Flash graphic cannot make a calldirectly to a mySQL database. I am using the function below to convert a Flash AS3 Date type to a MySQL- compatible 'datetime' string. It is working fine, BUT I am worried that AS3 may not extract the 'same date format' from different client computers thereby rendering my function useless.Is there a better way of passing date to MySQL? First time on here.We teach English through games. All done on flash AS3 now. Want to put courses online so I have been told to use php to communicate to server and database. My question is:Do I use mysql to save stats or xml FIRST: I will get info from xml and send it to my activities in flash - I'm OK with thisSECOND: I want to send out stats from flash to mysql OR xml. The stats are:1. Student logs on of course using username and password (well that comes in not out)2. What lesson the student is on ie: 2, 3, etc...3. Highscores for game activities4. Scores student gets on each activity As far as I can see the only stats that grow are the scores on each activity and even those could be erased periodically.

I've got a dynamic text area pulling text from a MySQL database via AMFPHP.The text includes special characters such as accents,umlauts, etc (multi-language site platform). Most of them work fine, and ALL of them work fine when I'm on a Mac client. However, if I use a Windows client machine in either Firefox or IE6, there are a couple characters that for whatever reason just don't seem to show up-instead I get the [] box character.
The only characters I've found that seem to be affected like this are European quote characters like ' " and " (hex characters 146, 147, 148). I'm using the familiar ampersand-pound-number-semicolon escape sequence for them. And like I said, they all display fine on Mac/Firefox and Mac/Safari. Why are all my other special characters (umlauts, accents, etc) working fine and just these things failing? It's also worth noting that they look fine if I dump them out to a PHP file and pull it up in a browser...

For various reasons, I would prefer to store binary data like images and videos as BLOBs within a MySQL database and have Flash retrieve that content directly from the database as opposed to getting it from a URL on a fileserver. So, I have written a PHP script that Flash calls which does a database query and returns the bitmap data from the BLOB. I have verified that the image data is being sent from the database through the PHP, but Flash either doesn't display the image or gives me an error saying that it is an unknown type.

Is there a way to get Loader() to accept bitmap image data that is retrieved from a BLOB in a database? Should I try to get PHP to mimic the response from an HTTP server or is there another way to load bitmap data stored as a BLOB into a display object?

I will be creating a program to use for data entry. I'll be studying zebras in kenya and I won't have the internet there as I'm recording the data. I'd like to be able to send the data I generate in flash to an external text file. I understand I need some sort of script to do that, but is this something I can run just on my machine? I have 2 input textfields on the stage and 1 dynamic textfield.
-input1 is for quantity
-input2 is for page count
When a user enters a number into the page count it makes a calculation and places the outcome into the dynamic textfield. This textfield is for the individual price.All of this so far works. What I want to do now is create another dynamic textfield for the total. So the individual price is multiplied by the quantity and this result is put in the new dynamic text field. I have the code for that working but here is where it gets tricky (for me anyway).The total price is to start off invisible. When I roll over the individual price the total price is to appear (For a test lets just say when I roll over an area the total price appears).To stop cursor flickering this should be done inside a movieclip. So... I have create a movieclip and placed a dynamic textfield inside it. They all have instance names BUT how do I reference it in script?I need to tell the resulting calculation to be placed inside the textfield which is inside the movieclip. If it isn't inside a movie clip I can do it. But how to I reference it when inside one?

I have a website that is all flash. I have a main file that loads in the nav and then the nav loads in the designated .swf file for each section. So there are several sections(.swf's) with lots of text taken from a database and inserted into the swf file from
an XML file. If I click in between sections, and go back to the original section of text the formatting is lost. This is only in Internet Explorer 7- this does not happen in Firefox or on the Mac.
