Data Integration :: Dynamic Text Instance - Displaying Info From PHP File
Mar 10, 2008
I have a dynamic text instance in Flash named dynamic_txt and I want it to display information from a php file. What command allows me to do this? Here is the code:
PHP
<?php print "dynamo_txt=DYNAMIC"; ?>
ActionScript (2.0)
var my_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
my_lv.onLoad = function(success:Boolean) {
if (success) {
//Here is Where I want the command that will allow Dynamo_TXT to display the String // From the PHP File
};
my_lv.load("cars.php");
I want to integrate following php-file into my Flash-movie, but something still does not work. Following error message appears: "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."
I want to create a Flash file so a user can check boxes to filter what images are displayed--the (unfiltered) images would come from an XML file. Or, a MySQL database if that's easier. Is this possible? If so, how?
There's a movieclip, lets call it myMovieClip. Inside this movieclip there is a dynamic text box, lets call this one myText. Now to change the text within this text box that is embedded in a movieclip, it's simply:
[Code]....
However, what if there is a variable, called myVariable that stores the instance name of the text box. With only one text box I know it's pointless, but for the sake of example, lets leave it simple. So, suddenly the code looks like:
I got a music portfolio web site running PHP, MySQL and Flash. There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]
I will be creating a program to use for data entry. I'll be studying zebras in kenya and I won't have the internet there as I'm recording the data. I'd like to be able to send the data I generate in flash to an external text file. I understand I need some sort of script to do that, but is this something I can run just on my machine? (I'll probably make the data into xml format).
I have a text inside a xml file and i would like to display this text in a dynamic text field, using the xmlConnector.The files are at the following address:[url]............
I have a scroll pane that is linked to a movie clip with a dynamic text field. The scroll pane expands automatically based on the length of the dynamic text field. I would also like to have the dynamic text field expand automatically to fit the dynamic content from an external .txt file if there is too much text to fit in the default text field length.
Here is the code I am using to get the .txt files:
myLoadVars = new LoadVars(); myLoadVars.onLoad = function() { // the data is loaded in the myLoadVars object as a property
Does anyone know why the first part of my CSS formatted is the only part that shows? I know the rest of my text is formatted correctly because I can erase the first part, and only show the other portion. I just want to be able to load a decent size set of text into a text block I am making with a scrollbar.
I'm attempting to display external XML data in a dynamic text box. When I test preview my code, the information that I want to display shows up in the Output window, so I know that its linked and works. My trouble is creating the code that will link to my (txtBox) and displaying when previewed.
I am new to web services in flash. I am running Flash 8 and am attempting to use the Web Services component. I have defined my web service, bound to text fields on my form. Every thing works fine when I test the movie. Data is returned as it should. But when I put the movie on the web and I try to get data back, I get nothing.
I would like to be able to dynamically populate a dynamictext field (assuming that's the best component to use) with anarray of data from PHP.I have attached my PHP code and my Flash Code.The PHP code is working fine and generating the array.The first part of the AS code is working as I can see thepop-up window with the PHP array in it. However, I can't figure outhow to get the array to display in the dynamic text box.I have created a dynamic text box in flash with nothing inthe 'instance name' box and 'events' in the var box.
I need the use of the chars â„¢ and ® but only the latter appears. I'm using a loadVars object and an external .txt file which is loading with success, but where I need the phrase "Soo Bahk Doâ„¢ Moo Duk Kwan®," I only get "Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan®" Why doesn't "â„¢" load?
Edit: I'd like to add that I have chosen to embed all uppercase,lowercase, and punctuation marks, and I additionally added â„¢ and ® to ensure they'd appear, but, the trademark logo still does not appear.
Using CS3 Flash Pro, AS2 or AS3Once the dynamic TextField is converted to a Movie clip symbol,access to that TextField is lost / broken.Could this be a "Class" issue?How do I enable the dynamic text to be passed into the Movie clip symbol?
I've got a dynamic text area pulling text from a MySQL database via AMFPHP.The text includes special characters such as accents,umlauts, etc (multi-language site platform). Most of them work fine, and ALL of them work fine when I'm on a Mac client. However, if I use a Windows client machine in either Firefox or IE6, there are a couple characters that for whatever reason just don't seem to show up-instead I get the [] box character.
The only characters I've found that seem to be affected like this are European quote characters like ' " and " (hex characters 146, 147, 148). I'm using the familiar ampersand-pound-number-semicolon escape sequence for them. And like I said, they all display fine on Mac/Firefox and Mac/Safari. Why are all my other special characters (umlauts, accents, etc) working fine and just these things failing? It's also worth noting that they look fine if I dump them out to a PHP file and pull it up in a browser...
have mysql set up and have my php set up which retrieves the data from sql database but i cant seem to make the label or dynamic text box to display the datais my php code
PHP Code: <?php $conn=mysql_connect("localhost","root","") or die(mysql_error());
I would like to import text from a XML file into a dynamic text field. The XML file contains database records. I have found that Flash does not support the DOM command 'getElementsByTagName()' which I was endeavouring to use to find the record in the XML file that I wanted to associate with a particular dynamic text field.
Is there any other way to search through the XML file for the particular record I am looking for?
I'm loading data from an XML file with html specific tags so I can put all the formatting of the text field in the XML file, my XML looks something like this:
i have a text area, set to multiline. For some reason, when my text imported from xml shows up in the box, it starts several lines down into the box. So for example, my Text box is positioned with the top at the midpoint of my stage, but the text starts about 3/4 down the page, about half way down the text box. Can someone please tell me why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
I noticed that when I put my cursor in the box and move it up and down, the rest of the text 'scrolls' into the frame, but otherwise it's cut off.
We have a client who wants to share with us flash widgets whose contents can be updated using an external file. Our question is: Is it better to use a .txt file (such as notepad) or a .xml file to input data into Flash?
I trying to load indivual strings of text from an external file. example: I have a movie that navigates from frame to frame. on each frame I'd like a line of text to load into the movie. When the user navigates to the next frame the text loaded vanishes and is replaced by another line of text. This can be done with separate txt files, right but I was wondering if and how it could be done using one external text file.
All of the text in my dynamic text fields displays inconsistently, that is, some of the character strokes are full color and others are pale. This is with white text on a black background. I'm loading all of my text from an XML file. The smaller the font the worse it looks. The text only looks consistent if I use 24 point or larger. I've embedded the fonts in each field. The problem seems to affect all fonts.
I have a basic flash file with a button, when you hover over it, an object with dynamic text appears. Now I want text from an XML file to be pulled from it into my dynamic text box. This is what my code in my actionScript looks like so far... Code: function DisplayInfo(){ var title = items[i].firstChild; var items = channel_xml.firstChild.firstChild.childNodes; box.text1.text = title.firstChild.firstChild.nodeValue; menu_md._visible = false; box._visible = true; [Code] ..... How to simply grab the info in the description tags and whack it in my dynamic text field?
I have a static, UTF-8 encoded XML document that gets loaded by a custom movie clip class into an array and then items from the array are read and displayed in a dynamic text field that is attached to the movie clip,depending on which one is rolled over.Everything works perfectly except that an ampersand displays as & apostrophes display as ' and quotes display as ", even if I use the special character inside the XML.Higher level character codes actually display properly, so character codes for circle shaped bullets,registered trade mark symbol, Greek characters, etc, work! But a blessed ampersand does not.Setting the dynamic text field to either read as HTML or not read as HTML makes no difference.
Using CDATA tags in the XML makes no difference.In fact,when I use CDATA tags and enclose text containing a special character code, Flash goes the extra step of converting the ampersand in the special character code to &!! So" becomes "Using & just gets converted to &.So Flash's XML parser is parsing the & to an ampersand,which Flash's text parser then converts to &. WHY? And how do I stop it?
I found the function below to clean out the unwanted characters,and it works,but it seems a ridulous length to go to.And I probably have to extend it to accomodate whatever other characters don't work in Flash, but I don't know what those might be until I encounter them. Also,the function works whether I use a special character in the XML or not. ie, if I put an actual "&" into the XML, this function will display "&" and if I put & into the XML,it will still display as "&".
How can I save data to a text file and also append a record to data in an existing text file? I've used Authowrware previously and it was quite easy to create a large string of data (a comma separated list) and export that to a text file (and create the text file if it didn't already exist). I could then easily append additional rows of data (records) to the text file. We want to build a questionnaire that will store the data locally on the computer in a text file. Each record may have a few hundred data points in a comma separated list.
this is my current cv, painstakenly written in flash: [URL] I was told that I can use an external data file and load this into a flash file with xml, i am trying to make an xml file that will do what you see here above. But i cannot get the information to load properly where each title is separate (bold) and the description underneath it (plain text). i cannot get my cv to show up in a linear format as it only shows the first entry and then stops.
