Data Integration :: Filtering Displaying Dynamic Information
Jan 5, 2009
I want to create a Flash file so a user can check boxes to filter what images are displayed--the (unfiltered) images would come from an XML file. Or, a MySQL database if that's easier. Is this possible? If so, how?
I have a dynamic text instance in Flash named dynamic_txt and I want it to display information from a php file. What command allows me to do this? Here is the code:
PHP <?php print "dynamo_txt=DYNAMIC"; ?> ActionScript (2.0) var my_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); my_lv.onLoad = function(success:Boolean) { if (success) { //Here is Where I want the command that will allow Dynamo_TXT to display the String // From the PHP File }; my_lv.load("cars.php");
I have a table (Excel File) about 1000 rows and 3 columns. I want to load this table to the Flash and then be able to fetch data by referring to the first column.
i'm remodeling a website i've done ([URL]). i want to exchange information between XML and Flash files. i almost did it, but where shoul display information about one item, the whole content of this 'field' is shown. i'll explain better. this swf displays works of an artist. but the field 'date' (or any other text field) display the content of all works (separated by commas). i'll post the xml code and the actionscript code.
I am in the process of creating a flash site for friend of mine. He wants to be able to have a guest list for his events in DC. I have created form boxes and have given them all "instance names". But I have absoultely NO clue how to have the text entered by people trying to get on the guest list sent to my server so we can all read it.
I have a book on Flash but it really doest explain how to do it at all. I'm guessing I need to do some actionscript?
I have an SQL database setup which contains Herbal Information such as CommonName, LatinName, MedicalUse etc, and need to display the information in a Flash DataGrid Component. I also have the corresponding PHP script to connect, retrieve, add and delete items from the database. Although I am familiar with Flash in a design sense I have limited experience using Action Scripts and am unable to complete the connection myself.
I want to create a slideshow banner that will showcase our products. The slideshow will contain the image of the product, the name, the price, the item code and the link when someone clicks on it. Each week we update the best sellers and it can be from 5 to 15 different products. Similar to what we have now in our website www.deiequipment.com which now is static, we want to animate it and rotate the products like a slideshow. The problem we are encountering is that we have to manually update the slideshow content.
We would like to know if there is a way through scripting or catalyst to connect to a database and simply update all these fields automatically. So for example if the database has 5 items, automatically will pre-fill each field listed above and the slideshow will have 5 products.
If we update the database now with 10 products, to update automatically. That way we can create 1 slide show, the time it takes to rotate to the next product, and add simple button controls to the slide show for next and back that will simply go through the loaded items.I tried to do a research on how to do it online but some takes me to scripting, others to catalyst dabases, but none are specific to what I need.As a note, the image will just be an image holder that will be updated with the image field in the database that points to the URL location of the image.
I've made a flash page with user input for email and comments. The thing is I am working with a aspx.net server. The programmer has written out a aspx coding for the server side. Now all i have to do is write a script in the input fields in flash to connect to the aspx server. The progammer said that I would have to create variables inside the flash program to call to the aspx page he created. I am faily new to aspx and have no clue to writing a script with variables.
I have a static, UTF-8 encoded XML document that gets loaded by a custom movie clip class into an array and then items from the array are read and displayed in a dynamic text field that is attached to the movie clip, depending on which one is rolled over.Everything works perfectly except that an ampersand displays as & apostrophes display as ' and quotes display as ", even if I use the special character inside the XML.Higher level character codes actually display properly, so character codes for circle shaped bullets, registered trade mark symbol, Greek characters, etc, work! But a blessed ampersand does not.Setting the dynamic text field to either read as HTML or not read as HTML makes no difference.
Using CDATA tags in the XML makes no difference. In fact, when I use CDATA tags and enclose text containing a special character code, Flash goes the extra step of converting the ampersand in the special character code to &!! So" becomes "Using & just gets converted to &.So Flash's XML parser is parsing the & to an ampersand, which Flash's text parser then converts to &. WHY? And how do I stop it?
I found the function below to clean out the unwanted characters, and it works, but it seems a ridulous length to go to.And I probably have to extend it to accomodate whatever other characters don't work in Flash, but I don't know what those might be until I encounter them. Also, the function works whether I use a special character in the XML or not. ie, if I put an actual "&" into the XML, this function will display "&" and if I put & into the XML,it will still display as "&".
I got a music portfolio web site running PHP, MySQL and Flash. There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]
I have created a Flash Map that functions properly with a static XML file but when I try to load a dynamic XML generated my ColdFusion I get no results. The example can be found at: http:[url]...The one that does not work is at http:[url]....
This map should load the different states that are in the XML file but instead it does not load any of them. The two different XML files can be found at: http:[url]....and http:[url].....An interesting note: Firefox does not recognize the cfm file as a XML file but IE does. This may be based on the file extension.
The Action Script is exactly the same except that it references adifferent file. The Flash works when published for Flash Player 6 but when I try to publish for Player 8 even the static XML does not work.
I would like to build a dynamic webdatabase.(One form that updates text and bit-maps.)I must use Microsoft ACCESS or mySQL.Is it possible and is there any video tutorials out there?I heard a lot of "tissling and tassling" that flash is not well suited to work with databases.
I have a scroll pane that is linked to a movie clip with a dynamic text field. The scroll pane expands automatically based on the length of the dynamic text field. I would also like to have the dynamic text field expand automatically to fit the dynamic content from an external .txt file if there is too much text to fit in the default text field length.
Here is the code I am using to get the .txt files:
myLoadVars = new LoadVars(); myLoadVars.onLoad = function() { // the data is loaded in the myLoadVars object as a property
Does anyone know why the first part of my CSS formatted is the only part that shows? I know the rest of my text is formatted correctly because I can erase the first part, and only show the other portion. I just want to be able to load a decent size set of text into a text block I am making with a scrollbar.
Shouldn't it be possible to pass in a dynamic url path for this property? I am successfully loading a variable using loadVars and then attempting to use that variable to populate the xmlConnector.URL property but it does not seem to work. Do you have to hardcode a url for this property?
I'm attempting to display external XML data in a dynamic text box. When I test preview my code, the information that I want to display shows up in the Output window, so I know that its linked and works. My trouble is creating the code that will link to my (txtBox) and displaying when previewed.
I would like to be able to dynamically populate a dynamictext field (assuming that's the best component to use) with anarray of data from PHP.I have attached my PHP code and my Flash Code. The PHP code is working fine and generating the array. The first part of the AS code is working as I can see thepop-up window with the PHP array in it. However, I can't figure outhow to get the array to display in the dynamic text box.I have created a dynamic text box in flash with nothing inthe 'instance name' box and 'events' in the var box.
I need the use of the chars â„¢ and ® but only the latter appears. I'm using a loadVars object and an external .txt file which is loading with success, but where I need the phrase "Soo Bahk Doâ„¢ Moo Duk Kwan®," I only get "Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan®" Why doesn't "â„¢" load?
Edit: I'd like to add that I have chosen to embed all uppercase, lowercase, and punctuation marks, and I additionally added â„¢ and ® to ensure they'd appear, but, the trademark logo still does not appear.
Using CS3 Flash Pro, AS2 or AS3Once the dynamic TextField is converted to a Movie clip symbol, access to that TextField is lost / broken.Could this be a "Class" issue? How do I enable the dynamic text to be passed into the Movie clip symbol?
I've got a dynamic text area pulling text from a MySQL database via AMFPHP.The text includes special characters such as accents, umlauts, etc (multi-language site platform). Most of them work fine, and ALL of them work fine when I'm on a Mac client. However, if I use a Windows client machine in either Firefox or IE6, there are a couple characters that for whatever reason just don't seem to show up-instead I get the [] box character.
The only characters I've found that seem to be affected like this are European quote characters like ' " and " (hex characters 146, 147, 148). I'm using the familiar ampersand-pound-number-semicolon escape sequence for them. And like I said, they all display fine on Mac/Firefox and Mac/Safari. Why are all my other special characters (umlauts, accents, etc) working fine and just these things failing? It's also worth noting that they look fine if I dump them out to a PHP file and pull it up in a browser...
i'm trying to load a full html page with layout table cells intact and full function (like an i frame)i can load text and image but i can seem to get the entire page flash just lods it how it wants.does anyone have an idea? Can this be done? i've tried it with a dynamic text field, componets, and i can get falsh to see table / cell layouts at all.[code]is how i load my content. but making several dynamic text fields to load one page of content is working my nerves.URL...
have mysql set up and have my php set up which retrieves the data from sql database but i cant seem to make the label or dynamic text box to display the datais my php code
PHP Code: <?php $conn=mysql_connect("localhost","root","") or die(mysql_error());
I'm trying to get data from a webservice placed on an other server, parse the data and display it in a datagrid.I'm using the WebServiceConnector component.I placed a crossdomain.xml on the remote server, allowing my domain
Everything works fine within Flash.(Ctrl+Enter)Data is recovered, parsed and diplayed propoerly. But when i try somewhere else,it doesn't work at all.(local swf, local html, nor in http on mydomain)I placed dynamic txt fields to trace the status of the webserviceconnector, throught a listener on "status" event.I have of course an other listener for "result" event, which launches parsing and display.
Within Flash, i see the "status" changing from "StatusChange" {callsInProgress:1} to "StatusChange" {callsInProgress:0} and then, the "result" event is triggered.[code]......
I have an array that has 30 date objects. The date objects are indexed in the array from the minimum date value to the maximum date value. What I would like to do is retrieve only 7 dates from the array. Out of the 7, the first one should be the minDate and the last should be the maxDate, with 5 dates in the middle. The 7 numbers should increment evenly from the minDate to the maxDate.
I think using sliders is an interesting way to give the user a better way of filtering the data like the ones used atUsing check boxes and drop downs also seem to work as it can improve the users search/filter experience. What is the best approach/methodology to use to build this sort of Flash solution? I want to build simple interfaces that can be used anytime with pre-defined data that the user can organize or filter by various different categories. Examples I can think of are product, house or holiday searches using categories such as price, quanity etc.
I'm using AS3 in timeline. I can't make a SharedObject display saved information. I have several frame labels (parte1, parte2... parte20). On parte8 I have a movie clip (whole_master), which contains three children movie clips placed on a separate frames (level_1, level_2, level_3). I would like to save the level of a game a user ends up with or exits the game. Then, we user returns and be able to go to the level he/she was playing.PROBLEM: The movie clip is on frame parte8, which isn't the first frame. However, when the user re-starts the game, the Shared Object should be read on frame 1.[Code].....
i am working on a line chart on flex which enable me to view the progress of data according to the year. I have tried using a slider to filter but it doesn't seemed to work.
