Data Integration :: Game Stats Stored In MySql Or Xml

Aug 23, 2009

First time on here.We teach English through games. All done on flash AS3 now. Want to put courses online so I have been told to use php to communicate to server and database. My question is:Do I use mysql to save stats or xml FIRST: I will get info from xml and send it to my activities in flash - I'm OK with thisSECOND: I want to send out stats from flash to mysql OR xml. The stats are:1. Student logs on of course using username and password (well that comes in not out)2. What lesson the student is on ie: 2, 3, etc...3. Highscores for game activities4. Scores student gets on each activity As far as I can see the only stats that grow are the scores on each activity and even those could be erased periodically.

Data Integration :: Loading Images Stored As BLOBs In MySQL

May 10, 2010

For various reasons, I would prefer to store binary data like images and videos as BLOBs within a MySQL database and have Flash retrieve that content directly from the database as opposed to getting it from a URL on a fileserver. So, I have written a PHP script that Flash calls which does a database query and returns the bitmap data from the BLOB. I have verified that the image data is being sent from the database through the PHP, but Flash either doesn't display the image or gives me an error saying that it is an unknown type.

[Code]....

Is there a way to get Loader() to accept bitmap image data that is retrieved from a BLOB in a database? Should I try to get PHP to mimic the response from an HTTP server or is there another way to load bitmap data stored as a BLOB into a display object?

Data Integration :: Send Variables Stored In A Ms Sql Db To A Flash

Jul 18, 2008

Im having a bit of trouble integrating dynamic variables pulled from a databse using an ASP script with a flash movie.

Background:

I need to send variables stored in a ms sql db to a flash movie to display several values.

The dyanmic element comes in because i am using an ID to select the values from the db e.g id1 = joe bloggs id2 = paul smith

etc

When i am hardcoding the id in the asp script the variables are sent to the flash movie no probs and they display correctly.

I am also printing the asp code on the page and that all displaying fine.

HOWEVER, the issue arises when i make the asp code dynamic and by that i mean I am using request.querystring to pull the id

from the URL - The print out of the asp code is still displaying the correct variables, BUT they are not being passed to the

flash movie at all - the placeholder is blank there isn't event an error!!.

Couple of things to note -

- if you change the id bit of the url in the dynamic script to the printed asp code changes

- THE FLASH MOVIE IS IDENTIAL in both scenarios

- all variable names have remained the same

- it is NOT a location of file issue as we have tested the dynamic code files In another folder and no joy

- we are not using any other file includes or asp code in any of the page - all other code has been stripped out

THE ISSUE WE HAVE IS THAT THE PRINTED VARIABLES ARE NOT BEING PASSED TO THE FLASH MOBIE in scenario 2 where the asp code is looking for the participant id dynamically (i.e from the URL)

Data Integration :: MySQL Data Into Dynamic Text Field Without Escape Sequence

May 23, 2007

I got a music portfolio web site running PHP, MySQL and Flash. There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]

Data Integration :: Integrate Flash Graphic With MySQL?

Mar 13, 2007

I am a DBA and I provide data to the developers at my companyin XML format. The developers create Flash graphics and use the XMLto populate data variables. I want to start requiring thedevelopers to make calls directly to my MySQL databases so anytimei have to make a change to the underlying data, I don't get stuckgenerating an updated XML file for the developers.My developers tell me a Flash graphic cannot make a calldirectly to a mySQL database. They say Flash has to reference apage in which variables are defined, such as an XML, PHP, ASP pageetc. This page, they say, is generated from database info, butFlash does not directly make the call to the database ... thatanother programming technology (XML, PHP, etc.) does and has toparse the information, making it available to Flash.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Card Game - Comparing Values Stored In Array (AI)

Apr 4, 2010

I'm having a problem with the supposed AI that I've created for a card game that I'm making. The purpose is to have the function meant for 'player 2' to run after the human player has put down a card. What the function is supposed to do is to compare the value of the card which is stored in a array, and then according to the value assigned the AI is supposed to compared with the 4 cards in its hand and decide on which is the best possible card to pick. Though the human player's code seem to work as expected, for some reason the function for the computer did not run and instead churned out a huge chunk of data in the output. I will attach 2 separate text files; one will include the portion of the code which I highly suspect is giving the problem, the second will be the supposed error message.

Php :: Actionscript 3.0 -> PHP -> MySQL Security On A Game Application

Nov 12, 2011

I am planning on making a game with actionscript 3.0 (flash). However, I am having some security issues on saving user points. To be more specific, read below and you'll understand what's the exact problem. You are starting my flash application. PHP creates a session for your username. Playing for few minutes and reaching 750 points. You click on "Save my points" button. It connects "game.php?points=[]" with your point amount, hence, game.php?points=750. PHP connects to MySQL and does an update/insert query with the username you entered when opening application, and gets the points with $_GET['points'] as you can see on 3.

The issue is, Anyone who could directly browse "game.php?points=999999999999" would have his points saved in the database. I thought about encrypting the points, however, Flash is a client-side application and anyone could change the "points" value with an application like "Cheat Engine". Once they change the points, encrypted points will automatically be generated by Flash.

I also thought about creating a private key for each player on their signup and encrypt accordingly, but it also won't work because once an user change his points with Cheat Engine, flash will automatically encrypt the points with given private key, hence, another useless theory...

Data Integration :: XML Integration In Flash?

Nov 12, 2007

I'd like to create one empty Flash movie that is essentially a placeholder for externally loaded content I can change through XML. This content would just be able to randomly load 1 of 3 photos, with a button linking to a website within each of the photos on page load. If the user refreshes the page, a new photo with it's link would appear, but I understand since it's random,having 3 images the same image is likely to reappear, but I can always add additional photos and links.

Does anyone know of a tutorial that might lead me on the correct path to create this? I've found some tuts, but they've been different than my need.

I see that Flash 8 has the neccessary tools to handle file uploading, but my question is, can we have it act as a Stand alone FTP program so that we can utilize the fastest user upload, or will we be confined to the settings in the server INI settings.IE MAX_UPLOAD_TIME,MAX_FILESIZE, etc. If possible we want to avoid using the HTTP upload as it is noticeably slower. So if we can use flash to utilize user BW to upload, then that would be ideal.

Actionscript :: Extending The Dictionary Class - Accessing Stored Data?

Jul 18, 2009

I want to extend the dictionary class. Everything works so far except that in some of my methods that need to reference the dictionary's content I make a call like:

this[ key ]

It doesn't like that. It just tells me that there's no property 'key'. Is there a way to way to access the data within this class?Also, I'm using an integer for the key.

Edit: I've found that the same behavior happens when you extend Array.

var myArray : Array = new Array();
trace( myArray[ 0 ] );
var myArrayExtender : ArrayExtender = new ArrayExtender();[code]....

Where in this case, myArray returns "undefined" and myArrayExtender throws error 1069. ArrayExtender is an empty class that extends Array and calls super() in the constructor.
