I have created a button in flash 8 to act as a play button for mp3 files on a website in drupal. I however am having trouble, since am new to ActionScript, to make the button load an external mp3 file without hardcoding it in the flash.
View 0 Repliesi'm experiencing some problems when i'm loading external txt files in a textfield, the text is anti-aliased, although the textfield is dynamic multiline and placed on a multiple of 8. Anyone knows what to do about this?
View 4 RepliesI thought you could load an image into an html textField? I have HTML data that has IMG tags embedded into it, and I need a way to display them.
View 10 RepliesI have pre-formatted HTML in a textfile. Let me know if any of this might already be an error-source- I am currently too tired to try out alternatives: The textfile looks something like this:
HTML Code:
<p><img src='biathlon' vspace='2' hspace='4' width='40' height='40'></img>Alot of text</p>
<p><br></p>
<p><img src='biathlon' vspace='2' hspace='4' width='40' height='40'></img>Even MORE Text</p>
<p><br></p>
It's saved as a ".txt"-file... I didn't think that would really make a difference? What I want to do is load the file and dump it directly to an HTML-enabled textfield, using something like
Code:
if (loaded) {
TickerData_txt.htmlText = this;
}
in the function connected to the "onLoad".
If I use "LoadVars" as a handler to load the file, it gives me the raw data, something like "%3Cp%3E%3Cimg%20src=%27biathlon%27%20vspace%3D%27 2%27..." (you get the idea)... If I use an XML handler, it only gives me the first entry when I use "this" to send the file's content to the htmlText-field... probably because each entry in the file is enclosed by "<p>"-tags and the XML-handler considers the file to be over once the first closing "</p>" occurs?
What would need to be added to the file to make it load it all? Or what would I need to change about the function to make sure it sends the whole content of the file? When I use "trace" on the "this" that is loaded, it actually *does* give back only what it also sends to the textfield, even though the text-file contains several rows of that stuff.
Structure: There is 1 main file that loads external SWF files depending on what is clicked on.One of the external SWF files loads its text from external text files. This works fine when viewing the SWF applet on its own. But when viewing as a whole site, the text doesnt appear. Very annoying.I made that particular SWF on my mums computer running Flash MX 2004The flash file itself uses the Scrollbar component from MX.Could someone tell me why the text doesnt load in this scenario? It runs fine on its own, just not as an external SWF.

View 3 RepliesI'm loading a textField with addChild in a movieClip and want the external text file I am loading into this textField to render in the textField as HTML. I have attached the code I am using.

View 2 RepliesI am having a couple of issues with dynamic text. I am loading fairly simple text documents, but am ending up with some font oddness. For example, I am using plain Arial in the CSS but am ending up with words running together. In the word "Oxygen" the "Oxy" letter spacing is really tight. Do I have something odd in the CSS? Here it is:

Pretty straightforward so I can't figure out why things look bad. Would embedding the font, even if it's arial, make any difference? How does that work in the code? I tried using the embedFonts = true; but that didn't seem to really do anything. So I'm thinking that perhaps I should be loading HTML or something for these external text files. These aren't huge, but several of them contain listings, headline, main body copy, sub head - the typical sort of thing on would find in a text file. Is there a good primer out there as to what works with CSS and text files or different ways of getting text files into Flash?

I need to figure out how to utilize one SWF player/file to load different streaming F4V files dynamically.[code]...
Currently I am publishing a separate SWF player/file for each F4V, but this is unacceptable. I need to use one SWF file to load different F4V files. I'm not that knowledgeable in the ways of Flash, but I believe that the "src" attribute of the embed tag and the "name='movie'" attribute of the object's param tag needs to point to the SWF player/file. So does anybody know how I can manipulate the object and embed tags to make them load a different F4V file into the SWF player?
I'm trying to use one html page to load multiple swf files and I can't figure out the correct code to do it.Basically, each main page in my navigation is a separate swf.I need the swf files to be able to load seamlessly over one another.
View 9 RepliesI have a very basic flash document, with a dynamic text field called myText, and a script to load an external html-file into that field. The script is from a tutorial somewhere, so I'm not 100% sure it's optimal, but it works. What I want to do is modify this code so that a clicking a button in this document will switch the input file from demo.html to another HTML-file, say demo2.html.
var url:String = "demo.html";
var loadit:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
loadit.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);

I have been provided with some flash movies/apps to include in a web design that I am doing. These flash movies load an external xml file.This is failing.The problem appears to be that when the flash movie goes to load the file using a relative directory path, it starts at the very root of the web directory, where the main jsp file is, instead of the where the .swf file is located.[url]...
View 1 RepliesI'm having trouble loading external flv files I have on my server into my SWF file?
I have all the netconnection set up properly but im wondering if there is a variable or a parameter I have to pass to the ns.play() method that I am not doing correctly.
What is the actionscript 3 code to load external SWF files? I have 5 external SWF Files and I want them to load one by one with a time delay of 5 seconds;
View 5 RepliesI know how to load in external .as files so I can update easily. but why do you still have to re-publish the swf in order for the new .as file 2 take effect.
is there any way that you can make a .as file be read in & so that it updates the .swf file, much like the way loading an xml or .txt file does?
I have got 3 swf files scene1, scene2 and scene3. Out of which scene2 and scene3 are embedded inside html files named scene2.html and scene3.html. I also want to include pre-loader at every intervals between the scenes, since the total file size including images and scripts is around 4mb.

View 4 RepliesI am trying to find a very good step by step tutorial on using "Flashvars" to load external mp3 files, I have been searching on google and the many I have found fall short in some way or another. From what I have been able to gather, I have tried using the code in red (commented out), which works, and modify it to use "Flashvars". The code that works, the mp3 file is hard coded, but my goal is to use "Flashvars" which I am attempting to do in the code following the code in red. I am also including the html code.

I'm new to Flex and I'm trying to write a program with lots of content in it. There's a sidebar, a main content pane with tabs, etc.I want to be able to create MXML files (like sidebar.MXML, tab1.mxml, etc.) that I can then load into the sidebar or load into a certain tab. That would make my code a lot more manageable instead of writing all that code inside of the main MXML file.Can I do this? I have already modularized some of my code by putting them in custom components, but I would really like to be able to load content from other MXML files, much like I can do in PHP:
View 3 RepliesI have a site that loads external swf files using the loader in AS3:
Code:
var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
addChild(myLoader);
var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("myexternal.swf");
myLoader.load(url);
this works wonderfully, but what I need to do is have a button in the this SWF, when clicked, unload itself, and load a different external SWF.
I have a main presentation file with 3 external movies that load into the main file. The SWF version works great. Our clients use PC's so I publish my files as windows projector files (exe). Problem is when I give them a CD of all 4 files, when they click on the main presentation file it doesn't load the external movies.[code]...
View 2 RepliesI have an image gallery consisting of thumbnail buttons, which load the external fade in/out files. When the buttons are on the main timeline everything works perfectly, but I wanted them to be scrollable so I placed them within a MC, still on the main timeline, and now the externals wont load the scrolling and button actions are fine.
View 8 RepliesThe following is from an application that uses the Welsh alphabet, loading in audio of each letter-sound and pushing them into an array (supposedly in alphabetical order) for later use. However, this fails to work correctly as they end up in the wrong order as the order in which they are pushed into the array is dictated by the order in which their load completes, not the order in which they were loaded.[code]...
View 1 RepliesI need it to be in Action script 3 though. I did find a tutorial on this website that is labeled loading random movies but its written for a very old version of flash from 2004.
I am trying to load multiple swfs into a main swf one after another. So after one plays the next one plays etc. I need it to be random as well. As in I am going to be taking some swfs out then putting new ones in the rotation. This is a slideshow so to speak of different swfs displaying current promotions and when the promos are over I need to remove them from the rotation. I right now have one big long swf that contains all the different rotated promos I hope this was easy to understand.
i was wondering if their was a way to load external files in advance and to integrate these in the loading progress of the flash file (in the beginning ... you know, with a load bar)i used and changed the photogallery of kirupa, and in the code i integrated a piece that positions every image depending of its size.i put it in the tag where "if" says that the file has loaded completely and the fade in may start.... wel, it works, but some times it doesn't position well. just like the image ain't loaded well. when you go to the next image and then go back it works.if you want to see it, here's the url
View 1 RepliesI have a drop down menu whereby the clicking of a button causes it to move to a specific keyframe in the timeline. I also have multiple buttons which load external swf files.The problem is when i navigate to the drop down menu the loaded external files keep dissapering because they are not on the keyframe where the drop down menu is actuated. Is there any way of coding it so that which ever swf file is loaded remains there whilst the drop down menu moves to its specific stage in the timeline?
