Mar 4, 2009I'm trying to create an flv player to play a single video from a website. I can't seem to resize the playback window. Altering the width just seems to move the same small window around the screen.
Ideally I'd like it to go full-screen or at least fill the browser window. However, I don't even seem to have basic control at the moment. What am I doing wrong here?
Also, (and maybe this is related), I couldn't import fl.video.* in Flex Builder without placing the component first in my library resource using Flash. Is it possible to bypass this step and import directly in Flex Builder?

Jun 8, 2010Creating a dynamic list and associating a picture with each list item. i need the list to be scrollable, and i want the list and it's associated picture to be displayed randomly when the application is re-launched. i.e it doesnt show the same list everytime.
I also what to be able to sort the displayed list items. e.g if the list items is about restaurants, i want users to be able to sort the displayed items by either; district, cusine type and gastro type.

I know it is a flash player, but would this involve accessing the YouTube API or something else? For example, I'd like to program something similar to what's provided by the Enounce MySpeed application (control over play back speed).

ActionScript 3.0 :: Video Skin Work And Play Video Locally And NOT Live?
Jul 31, 2009Why does my swf's skin referenced by a simple component FLA work locally but NOT live? There's no AS3 in the component FLA. It's just a one-layer component referenced to the the FLV. When I test locally, IN FLASH CS4 ONLY, and click on "Animalia - Verse From the Zoo" the FLV and skin load and the video (source FLV - "Sequence01.flv") plays. But the same thing live only loads the swf for the FLV file area but NO SKIN. Try it yourself, please:Has anyone had this problem and knows the solution? All files are in the SAME FOLDER on the web server. I've tried every URL and path combination I can think of on the website. I've tried referencing the whole URL.
Yet whatever path combination I try, either nothing happens, or I just get the FLV box but no skin. Which is what's happening now. Publish settings are set to Flash Player 10 for all files. And I've tried the component SWF WITH and WITHOUT the fl.video package (import fl.video.*. No difference. Why does the skin load and play locally but not live? It's all AS3. No AS2. And it does not seem to be a "publish settings" issue as far as I can see. The relevant code in my API is:

In that frame is a flash movie that contains the video that I have embedded onto the timeline for the movie. The filesize for this project is massive and I am struggling to work on the file. Mar 24, 2010I have 1 flv with only 12 seconds of audio. another flv that is 10 seconds with only video another flv that is 2 seconds with only video Lets assume both video files are as long as my audio file. Which actionscript commands should I look further into to: 1. play audio simultaneously with video 2. play the 2 second video smoothly/seamlessly after the 10 second video is over as if it were a 12 second vide 3. if my audio or video were mp3/wma instead of flv would I run into trouble 4. I imagine a flash media server would be mandatory if my videos were other formats like avi/mpg and had to encode on the fly

May 12, 2009I want to play FLV video in a flash video player, and at the end of the buffering I want to access the data (video data, or buffered file) so I can manipulate it. For exemple in a ByteArray format so I can save it to local disk... With the NetStream and NetConnection I can play the video without problem, but I can't find a way to access the data. using the URLStream, I can download the video file [URL], and I can access the data I want but I can't play it?
Is there a way to play the URLStream, or to get data from the NetStream?
Or may be, I can access the cache of the browser to get the bufferd data played by NetStream?

Apr 2, 2009I am having go with one one of the tutorials here. I am trying to use XML to loop, or play, the list of songs that I have going on. Though, I get stuck with two problems:
1) The Flash will not play the 2nd or third song of the XML file, only the first than it stops.
2) The Flash will also not play the XML file if I embed it on another folder, like for example: I want the flash to be embeded on my home page (so index.php) though I have all my files (songs.xml, the songs, home.as, flash_home.swf) on a folder named /flash/ off my root folder.

Dynamically Create A Xml List?
Feb 8, 2010I am trying to dynamically create an xml list.. however when I add in cdata tags it give me an error saying tags must be terminated, even though I'm not using those. It seems like it is trying to read the cdata tags as tags.

Jul 19, 2009you may quickly determine I am totally new to flash and actionscript. Tried learning it a while back but got distracted and just started over. Trying something that I thought would be real simple only to discover that nothing about AS is simple... So I wanted and play a movie via an XML generated list. Followed one of the tutorials here and tried to adapt it for video. The list works and the path for the video traces properly but for some reason the video never appears on the stage. I can take out the variable "vid" and put the path in manually without changing the structure and it works fine. Can someone point out my error. And if I am totally doing this wrong I am open to criticism as long as its constructive.
