ActionScript 3.0 :: Crunchy Text Loaded From RSS Feed?

I've got a question I'm hoping some of you have the answer to. I'm not really much of a flash developer, but rather a small business owner that building my company's site. On the home page, I've created a simple textField which I'm reading in the latest blog posting "title" from an xml file. That works just fine, but the unfortunate thing is that the text looks awful, very crunchy. The font is a derivation of Helvetica, and when loading into a dynamic text field, looks far different from the rest of the page. I can't seem to change the textField's thickness or sharpness via AS3, nor does changing the anti-alias settings in the GUI. I've spent half my day trying various things, none have worked.

I have this RSS feed, which is being displayed in various text boxes on my stage, But in the box that displays the child - description, I am getting random numbers and letters.. And I don't know how to remove it from the text.

I am currently trying to pull RSS data into a project for my first time and am trying to get 3 (potentially 4) boxes filled with rss data that will be updated. So far, I am going with Actionscript 3. So far I have the code below, but it puts data in a listbox. What is the easiest way to put the data in three dynamic text boxes inside a movie clip, so I have one for the title, one for description and one for link (shown as 'read more' text but a link using the url from the rss value)?I am really banging my head against the wall on this one and want to get it sorted asap,I have also attached an image to show what I am trying to do:I also want to know if it's possible to show rss values only if they exist. For example, my xml feed currently only has 3 items that change, and i will be assigning these to boxes, but is it possible to display a fourth if it exists, and if it doesn't it just shows the first?[code]

I've been playing with an xml feed to read some useful information from a site but I've run into a small problem.
The XML feed doesn't send me HTML content, it only sends text. So a node that should read [code]...

I've made a few sites a few years ago with flash CS3/AS2 and using the TextArea as an output for xml content. that really sucked and looked terrible as it flashed white everytime it was loading (especially on slow connections). so I don't want to go that route again.sir!ok, so I have a banner that has 3 text elements per page (with various graphics per page behind the text) ...all text needs to be live as it is fed by 3 different languages. (referably the image link too)1. consistant big title across 8 pages2. sub-title that changes per page3. paragraph of text per sub-title4. the background imageEach of the 8 "slides" lasts about 6 seconds each (this part im fine with and sorted in AS2...but not AS3). On the top left are 8 numbered buttons that a user can click on to view whichever "slide" they may have missed or whatever. (this part i'm ok with....just the external text and formating are the issue)how would i go about setting this up via dynamic text with either XML or PHP in CS4/AS3? (using dynamic text fields, but so its nicely formated).

I have an AS3 file that pulls an XML feed from a site. All the file does is display a number in a dynamic text box. On my desktop it works fine the feed is parsed in the output window and in the dynamic text box, joy! I upload the file to the CMS we are using and, no joy all I get is 'Loading' in the window. I get Loading because I input that in the tf so it wouldn't be blank.
So the question is, is there a fundamental flaw in my code or is it more likely to be the CMS? Im hoping it is the code, otherwise it is back to the drawing board.

I have a class that loads data from a text file and puts it into an array called tdv.importedTxtArray (public var).In a separate class i have written [code]The infoArray does not then contain the imported text however because tdv.importedTxtArray is not given its popper contents until about 1/2 a second after the tdvLoader class executes (i.e: when Event.COMPLETE is run and the array is populated with strings from the external text file). Subsequently in the code above infoArray is set to a blank array.How can i get the code in my separate class to ''wait' until tdv.importedTxtArray is properly populated before accessing it.

I'm having a problem adding numbers that are loaded to dynamic text boxes. I'm using AS 2 (Flash 8). The numbers are loaded to the textboxes from a text file using a loadVars command. The text boxes have instance names of TELEMATICS and BOOK - I have a third textbox called (instance name) RESULT - the text file is called TEST1.txt. My problem is that after trying (and trying) several solutions in tutorials I am unable to add the values in TELEMATICs and BOOK to get a (sum) total in RESULT. I've managed to piece together a flash website with my limited as3 knowledge. The text is loaded from external text files and styled with an external css file.
It's working perfectly in Firefox and Explorer but it only works SOME of the time in Safari (on my mac).It's hit and miss. Sometimes it styles the text sometimes it doesn't.

I've created a flash with an RSS feed inside it, I've seen it work on other websites but it won't work when I upload it to my server. I have a few projects that are coming up at work where I will have to take a feed given to us and grab and display titles for example and pictures. I was able to do this in AS2 but I now need to do it in AS3 now and I don't have the time to dig in and figure it out. I would be willing to pay someone to display one of the images and one of the headlines in the example feed below. I think I can learn the rest, but there is a good chance I might need some more help and I would be willing to pay for that also. So basically I need a small script and a file that displays the info. Can you guys throw some offers my way here or at my email:

I made this BlogFeed.swf file. Everything works just fine in Flash IDE. It loads the XML, renders it, displays fine and that's it: the world is filled with love and data.
The problem occurs when I try to use my swf online.
Here's the scenario:
SERVER A (Altervista)
hosts the swf file, trying to read the RSS Feed from...
SERVER B (my client's server)
serves the RSS Feed of his blog
[ things I already tryed ]
1) I wrote a crossdomain.xml file (allowing SERVER B domain to access the swf), place it at the same level of the swf file on SERVER A;
2) Set System.security.allowInsecureDomain("*") in the flash file
3) checked on both servers the server-to-server permissions (Altervista lets you do this via its own control panel; the client's server needed me to email the support: did it and they allowed me to connect)
4) moved the swf on ANOTHER server, on which I am completely sure that server-to-server communications are allowed, since I already did something like that.
Nothing changes: always getting the damn HTTPStatus = 0 and no items are shown.
What I really don't understand is why it does work from Flash IDE connecting to SERVER B and it fails (with NO IOError and HTTPStatus = 0, so no debug hints at all...) when I use it in server-to-server mode.

I'm trying to get the last post of a clients' Twitter feed embedded into a dynamic .swf file. I thought I had it and indeed if you go here it works:

but then I embedded it into the page and now I get the .swf to appear but no feed!

It's supposed to connect to a php page that does the work and I'm enclosing it here. I do have crossdomain.xml set up properly. Anyone know why it doesn't connect on my page but it does by itself?

I know that you can grab your web server's current time with php, .net, or whatever server side scripting language you have available, and create a variable to feed into your flash movie at the embed time.What I am wondering is if there is a time server out there with an XML feed that you could connect to with flash to grab the current time based on whatever parameters you feed into the query string.I would doubt such a thing exists (at least for free) since so many people would probably tap into it and overload the server with requests, but it would be an easy way to set up someone's flash movie to grab a somewhat accurate current time stamp at load time (or any other time you'd want to call on it) without the need for server side scripting.

how I might get a Twitter widget working INSIDE a AS2 flash file?I found widgets on the twitter site, but, although I've seen references elsewhere to SWF widgets at twitter, right now the only thing I can find is using Javascript. (Maybe they canned all of the SWF widgets?)[I have found some AS3 stuff, but my understanding is that I can NOT load an AS3 swf into an AS2 one.]
Is there a way to load external javascript content into an object inside of the SWF? (kinda like an iFrame inside of the swf that can load the file with the javascript)
