I am trying to load a news feed in xml. It works fine when I run it in flash by clicking ctrl + enter but when I load the .swf in the browser or try to load the .html in the browser I get a Error #2044: Unhandled securityError:. text=Error #2048: Security sandbox violation:

I wanted to add a second news box under the first one and have it pull the first two news items in the xml file and have it displayed on the movie. Currently it is putting the first news item in both news boxes.ction script so that the second box is actually the second "<news> tag". From the tutorial I removed the <info> <author> and <comment> tags.
View 0 RepliesI have never looked into RSS feeds before, I now have someone that wants Yahoo rss newsfeed embedded in his main.fla. I have an AS 2.0 rss newsreader he sent to me, knowing nothing about RSS I started to look around and eventually got to a point where I went to a Yahoo RSS feed and copied the source page and dropped it in the xml file that came with the feedreader. When saved, published and uploaded to the server the file displays the feed from yahoo fine, but it never update the stories. I would think this has to do with the xml as it is embedded in the page so it can't change so my question is how do I get an rss feed converted to xml to update???

I change with another feed : same problem I test this on my personal website Numéricable ( France) and on a blog plateform I saw security alert when I launch in my brownser but people on the forum said that it just a problem when you run the swf locally...

looking to build a horizontal news ticker like you would see at the bottom of the screen on CNN etc except it will only display one item at a time. Just thinking and planning before I start.... If the news ticker is only going to be wide enough to display one news item at a time, will my flash load all of the xml news data as soon as it launches and hide all the content that is outside of the ticker width or would/should it only load/display each news item individually when it is that items turn to display in the ticker?

I'm making a very simple news ticker that uses XML to load four items: copy text, an image, date and a URL. The script was pieced together from tutorials and a bit of self-teaching, so I know it's probably not great. The AS is pasted below. Everything loads just fine, but the button script returns an "undefined" error. I assume this is because the item is no longer found in the array, but I'm not entirely sure. I also think it may be that the loadMovie method isn't working well with a specific item in the array. Also the link does not work. *Note* I know there are probably more advanced ways to tackle this but I'd like to keep this at my learning level so I can grow with it. :-)

I got one movieclip with several buttons and another movieclip where i use: this.loadMovie("news1.swf"); What Id like to do is, if its possible, to do, on the main timeline, assign, to the buttons what news.swf to load into the other movieclip where i load it. So i can assign one button to load news1.swf and another load news2.swf.

For example i want to pick up all the title values within each item of the RSS feed and place that in a designated label.
I am parsing the feed correctly but i am having trouble trying to load the data into the label's, i've tried using the below but the same Title value is entered for 9 out of the 10 labels[code]...

It works,but only after i roll over the UP button then both UP and DOWN work.If i go over down button first nothing happens
I created a News Ticker in Flash CS3 from a tutorial on your site URL...But it just flashes "undefined" I know I must be messing something up with the location of the XML file or where it's defined in the action script. I don't think I understand the "cache" part of the tutorial or why the file can't be local? I have gone to the suggested links in the tutorial, and being a total novice, I must be missing some main point.

View 1 RepliesI am going to redesign a website and for that website I want there to be a news section on the homepage. The news section should be built in Flash with images representing news headlines animating on a loop however a user should be able to click one of these images and then within the homepage a Flash pop up will appear with the news article. This is similar to sites that have an image gallery with thumbnails of images but when an thumbnail is clicked then the full size image loads within the same webpage. I want a similar effect but in my case, when a full size image is clicked, a text based news article loads.
