ActionScript 3.0 :: Dropdown Menu In Contact Form - Get Results Into An Email?
Sep 4, 2011
I've built a contact form for my website using a [URL] tutorial on building UI elements. The final step to the tutorial is putting all the elements together in a contact form, but for some reason they've left out the dropdown menu element, and for the life of me I can't figure out how to write that code. The problem is that the dropdown menu is designed such that it's a movieclip containing several other movieclips & actionscript (button, list, scrollbar, etc). I can get it to trace the selected information with this code inside the dropdown movieclip:
the source files work perfectly when I upload them to my server - but when I insert the form into my flash website - I am unable to receive the contact email at all. The problem must be with the flash file becuase I have not altered the php (except to send to my email)
I am using Flash CS3 (but publishing for action script2) I have double checked all my input field sare named correctly with var_names that match the php code. The form fields have been created as a moviclip named "form" and the following action script attached:
I'm using Flash CS3 with AS2 and have been trying to set up a basic contact form and nothing seems to work. I used this [Url]to create the AS code for the send button for my form + the php code as well from this Kirupa link.I'm being hosted by Godaddy with the linux server with the email being sent to...When I fill out the form and submit - nothing is recieved in my inbox.Having tested the forwarding from Godaddy to yahoo - does work!
I have tried about as many tutorials as I can find online to create a contact form within my flash that emails me when someone fills out the forms, including a very good step by step at VTC. What I have found is that most of these tutorials start with the assumption that you're creating the contact form on a blank flash canvas, which is reality, is not always the case. So while I am sometimes able to get the forms to work if I do it on a brand new Flash movie, the moment I try to recreate the form within my current flash file, it stops working. I have mostly tried to recreate the contact form as a seperate movie within my flash file on it's own layer and have tried placing the Submit button within the contact form movie and also outside of it - neither works of course

Using CS3 btw.
Here's the info: So according the image, my contact form is called "mcForm" which is a movie clip within the larger .fla on its own layer. The actions that are associated with the 1st frame in the "actions" layer above are as the following:
Here is the code itself repasted: stop(); var gatherForm:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); //Send form function function sendForm():Void{ gatherForm.receipient = "my@email.com"; [Code] .....
When submit is clicked. It just says waiting for server connection. The email is never sent. I think the problem is with the php.
Here is my ACS3 code PHP Code: // Set text formatting colors for errors, waiting..., and success mechanisms var errorsFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat(); errorsFormat.color = 0xffffff; var waitingFormat:TextFormat = new TextFormat(); waitingFormat.color = 0xffffff; [Code] ......
The form is not sending a message to my email. I am not sure whether the problem is in the AS 3.0 code or the PHP code, anyway here's the code: Actionscript 3.0 code: function handCursor(e:MouseEvent):void { e.target.buttonMode=true; e.target.useHandCursor=true; } build variable name for the URL Variables loader var variables:URLVariables = new URLVariables; [Code] .....
I am currently using a flash template from flashmo.com and i have installed it etc... The problem I have is that when you go to send a message in the contact form you cannot enter certain characters in the email box, especially the '@' symbol.
My flash contact form is set up correctly as well as my php file. I've tested the form in flash and on the web and it sends out an email. However when I check the email, all the fields are blank. The name, email address and message all appear blank when checking the email.
AS code Code: Select allstop(); var senderLoad:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); var receiveLoad:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
I followed the contact form tutorial and created my own "join mailing list" form, but I want it to send you a confirmation when you press send on the form.
I'm working in AS 2.0, Flash CS3. I want to make a contact form that allows a user to select the appropriate e-mail address from a combo box. I have made a working contact form that send to one e-mail address using PHP.
Here is the AS for it:
Code: var sendLoad = new LoadVars (); var receiveLoad = new LoadVars (); send_btn.onRelease=function () {
[Code]....
Now.. how do I make a Combobox that allows the user to select who to send their e-mail to? (all I want are 3 address)
i created this contact form in flash 8 and i get the email but an UNDEFINED message pops up on my status i cant get rid of it here is my action script for the submit button
I've built a dropdown menu movieclip that I need to use in a contact form- or more specifically, I need 2 dropdowns with different options in them in the same form. My problem is that when I change the properties in one instance of the dropdown_mc, it changes the properties in the other as well. The two clips have different instance names, and I've been changing labels of the list items by clicking through to the actionscript imbedded in each dropdown (not through the dropdown_mc in the library).
I am creating an order form for my flash site. I have never done this before in flash but I have in visual basic. I have a few questions:
1. Is assigning variable names to checkboxes and radio buttons the same as in visual basic? I mean i know that you probably assign them in the properties. ex..say i name a radio button 'radio1', to run a check in my actionscript whether radio1 was checked or not would it be something like if(radio1){}
2. After the person fills out the form I would like to have the results of the order sent to a pre-specified email adress in a certain format. What would be a good way to do this?
So I have built a contact form out of AS2 and PHP. PHP 5 is enabled on my server, so that's not a problem. I think there is a slight error within my code somewhere. What happens is once online, you fill out the form and hit post, it goes to the "error sending email!". Below is my code so you can take a look at it. I also have included below that a link to download the actual files.
have created a contact form that sends 3 lots of data (name, email and message) to my email address. here is my code for my flash form which looks right
I'm creating a webpage, and I have made some buttons.Image 1 is the homepage, which is frame 1 in Flash.Image 2 shows that when I rollover the button "Portfolio,"I get a dropdown menu.I have this set as frame 3 in Flash.Image 3 shows that I've gone down the dropdown menu and rolled over "Photography." But if I rollout of any of the things from the dropdown menu, it stays at Image 2 (Frame 3)with the dropdown menu visible. Which is a problem...I want to be able to rollout of these buttons to revert back to the homepage, Image 1 (Frame 1).But, for instance, telling "Graphic Design" to go to Frame 1 on rollout means that if I try to go below "Graphic Design" to "Photography," I've rolled out--and so the rest of the menu disappears.So I want to roll be able to select anything from the dropdown menu, and only rollout to Frame 1 if I go outside the entire dropdown menu, not just one button.
I don't know if this is too much to ask but could someone give me a quick overview on how to create an email form that actually sends the information to my email? I have the form created, and I'll post the .fla file (I allow a laugh at my elementary flash movie. This is just a final project for an intro to flash class), and I understand I'll need the .asp file from GoDaddy setup on my hosted space.
I have used the kirupa tutorial on a flash email form and it works GREAT! The only thing is I want to have required fields that need to be entered in for the form to send. If the user doesn't enter anything, it will ask them to in order to send the email.how I can do this or adapt it to the kirupa tutorial code?
iam trying to create an email form with flash cs4. so i've designed the layout and i've written a script to check that the details given are correct. but i am having problems while i am trying to sent those details to my email. here is the script after the details were checked:
I'm having with a menu navigation system. I'm using Flash MX. I have created a menu system for the site I'm building ([URL]) where one of the buttons "Choose photographer" drops down a list of names. All the other buttons just jump to another page. The drop down is currently using tweens also the logo moves to the left as the dropdown appears and returns when the dropdown returns. All working fine apart from its a bit jerky.
It's I just wanted to get away from tweening and use action scripts instead, as I'm a newbie to all things Flash I trawled the net for tutorials and examples so that I could cobble together the exact same effect. I have managed to get the drop down work and return using the action script and it does seem smoother and works slightly better. But can I get the logo to move to the left and back in time with the drop down...no.
I am having some issues with a php email form that I am using in my AS3 project. the form works perfect and all communication is good.however when the user is on the page and wants to tab to the next text field it jumps to one of my hyperlinks on the same page and not to the next text field down on the php form.
is there any way to stop this from happening.I have tried placing the php form on a seperate layer in a seperate mc and I have done the same with the hyperlinks .you can see what I mean by visiting this development site.(after entering go to contact)http:[url].....
I am aware of how to reset the right-click context menu to just "settings", but when the file is opened in Flash Player directly from a computer instead of on the web, the drop-down menu in the player is still available. You can even press ctrl+enter to play. My searches just come up with solutions to the right-click menu, and I have a client who wants me to get rid of this menu for a game I've already made.
I am really in trouble with flash forms and need help please. Ive been trying to get a contact form working for a few weeks but have had no luck.Below is the code I am putting in to the flash form and php file.(this is the code I have put for the send Button)
on (release) { if (name eq "" or subject eq "" or message eq "" or email eq "") { stop(); } else { loadVariablesNum("form.php", 0, "POST"); gotoAndStop(2); }}
(this is the code I have put for the clear Button)
on (release) { name = ""; subject=""; message=""; email="";}
(And this is the php file i created in dreamweaver and saved it as form.php)
