Being a geek and spending my weekends squatting up on design patterns and have hit a problem.I'm using the MVC from AS3 design paterns book and trying to adapt it to my needs. trying to create a right click popdown menu--and getting syntax error 1119: Access of possibly undefined property RIGHT_MOUSE_DOWN through a reference with static type Class.so I imagine the rightclick is reserved for the flash players context menu I want a menu to popdown when a mc listener gets a right click--I do not want to take over the intire context menu just for a rightclick on the mc in question

I have made a simple app in Flash CS5.5 and am publishing it with AIR for iOS. I am trying to get an image from the iPhone cameraRoll to load to a scrollPane on the stage using this code (I don't need to save the image anywhere, just display it on the stag). I really don't understand why this method is producing a 1119 error. Access of a possibly undefined property btext through a reference with static type Button.as The instance name of the Dynamic Textbox is btext and I have tried deleting the textbox and making a new one however this still produces a 1119 error. I also read on another stack question that trying this['btext'].text = caption; which gave me plenty of runtime errors.

I'm working in an external .as file which is working with my main .fla.Code is below. I'm getting 7 compiler errors, one each time "Stage" is referenced. I had this problem yesterday [URL] and the answer for that was to import and change "root" to "Stage"(as you can see in that link. That doesn't work for this file that I'm working with today. Same sort of setup in the .fla, just different content.
Here is one of the errors -"1119: Access of possibly undefined property get_error through a reference with static type Class." The others are just the same thing but replace "get_error" with the other functions next to "stage" in the .as.
I tried changing "Stage" to "MovieClip(parent)", which I found online, but that threw different errors. I seem to be working in circles and would love to learn the real cause of this. It's hard to wrap my head around at the moment.

I'm working on a Flex application that processes and displays small amounts of HTML, sometimes including images. I'm getting the HTML out of third-party RSS feeds. Sometimes, I see this in a pop-up window: Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.
The RSS URL is just fine, but there's apparently something in the downloaded HTML that's causing a problem. Since the application is meant to run as part of a non-interactive digital sign, anything that requires a click to continue is completely unacceptable. I don't care how useless or malformed a URL is; the app needs to ignore the problem without pestering the user.
Unfortunately, I'm having no luck trapping this event. I'm sprinkling calls like this liberally through the code: [object].addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, handleIOError); where [object] is everything from the mx:Text object rendering the HTML to its mx:Canvas parent to the mx:Application top-level app, and handleIOError is a simple function that looks like this:

I have the main site and 4 other swf's which are supposed to load and unload at the click of a button all together in a folder. Now, I've triple, quadruple-checked all paths and they're the same. It's really irritating me because I can't find the reason why these SWF files won't load at all. Here's my code:

I am designing a mini-website that loads external swfs. One of my swfs is missing, so when I hit the button whose function is to load it, I get an output message that says:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.
So far, this makes sense to me. I got curious about how to let the user know that the swf is missing or otherwise let him or her know that I made a mistake, so I've learned about IO_ERROR. I came up with the following code and now I am not getting any error messages - but also nothing is happening. If there is content in the Loader already, it doesn't go away. If the Loader is empty, it stays empty.

2.) Also, I have another layer with a "stop" action taking place at the same time that this button occurrs, however, once I have the script in the keyframe for the button, it seems to override the stop action. So, basicly, IM looking to stop the movie and get this button to, once clicked, open a web address.
