ActionScript 3.0 :: Fullbrowser Streaming Video: FLVPlayback Or Netstream?
Feb 1, 2009hey guys, what would be best to use on a full browser video, where the video should resize as the browser resizes and the flv will be streamed?

Aug 7, 2009I have a flash program that loads an external flv dynamically. I first create an empty movie clip then I attach an instance of the FLVPlayback component using Moviclip.attachMovie();. Then i control the FLVPlayback component with AS2. I have a play and pause button, a scrubber, and a loading progress bar. None of these are components. When I publish and preview the file in Flash CS4, Adobe Flash Player 10, and all my internet browsers everything works fine, all the buttons, the multiple functions of the scrubber, and even the loading progress bar.
However when I uploaded all the files from my computer to my company's server and tested it from there, I recieved audio but no video. All of the various controls still worked for the audio but I couldn't see anything on the stage. If I waited for the loading progress bar to complete and then reloaded the external flv then I got video, but the purpose of this program is to stream the video and I cannot have the users waiting for a preloader.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash NetStream.Buffer.Flush When The Streaming Video Is Paused?
Dec 26, 2010I notice that, when I pause the video, the event "NetStream.Buffer.Flush" is triggered. And according to the language reference: "Data has finished streaming, and the remaining buffer will be emptied.", I have to re-buffer it, right? However, also according to the reference, it shouldn't stop buffering:
Starting with Flash Player 9.0.115.0, Flash Player no longer clears the buffer when NetStream.pause() is called. This behavior is called "smart pause". Before Flash Player 9.0.115.0, Flash Player waited for the buffer to fill up before resuming playback, which often caused a delay.
I'm using Flash Professional to do the debugging, and the traced version number is: MAC 10,0,22,91, and it appears for both FMS4 and red5.

May 1, 2011Am building a video chat application and i was wondering if there are any native events for the NetStream that fire,that can help in detecting when a remote client starts/stops streaming video over his outgoing stream (NetStream) to which the other client has subscribed over P2P/RTFMP in AS3 ?I maybe able to dispatch custom messages since the two clients are already connected, but i don't want to add the extra overhead.

Apr 27, 2010I have attached a video on a frame of my website in Flash. When I preview the movie the film plays as it should.But when I export the Fla. as a Swf. file it then doesn't have the movie there anymore?It does show this error:
**Warning** The linkage identifier 'FLVPlayback' was already assigned to the symbol 'Video/FLVPlayback', and cannot be assigned to the symbol 'FLVPlayback', since linkage identifiers must be unique.
I really don't know what that refers too.
ActionScript 3.0 :: Use NetStream Or FLVPlayback?
Aug 22, 2010I'm currently on a project where to build a site with with several video-clips being played and reached from a menu. The video-files will be in FLV-format.I've done some video solutions in flash a few years ago but this time it will be in CS5 (AS3) and I'm not sure which solution that will suite this project best.The video clips must run smooth and I guess we'll need some cuepoints and buffering to make the transitions from the user inputs smooth. I think they need some MovieClips on top the videopart as well for navigation/information.
Should I use the NetStream-way or use the FLVPlayback-way? I got some demo-video-files yesterday and I ran an example using the FLVPlayback-method and it showed up smoothly but is this the way to go?Why would you use either NetStream or FLVPlayback?
ActionScript 3.0 :: NetStream Instance With FLVPlayback
Oct 27, 2009I want to utilize the FLVPlayback component so I don't have to create my own skins and the documentation says the FLVPlayback class "wraps" the VideoPlayer class and ALL the methods/props available in the VideoPlayer class are available to the FLVPlayback class, BUT I notice the FLVPlayback class doesn't inherit or subclass the VideoPlayer class and some of the methods/props for the VideoPlayer class generate errors when utilized by the FLVPlayback class.
In short, I want to take a NetStream instance that has the stream I want to utilize and force that on the FLVPlayback instance. I can get it to work with the VideoPlayer instance BUT NOT the FLVPlayback instance. I don't want to set the FLVPlayback instance's "source" property with a string as the documentation suggests, I want to do something like:
Code: flvPlaybackComp.attachNetStream(stream); how can I accomplish this? I've seen the "getVideoPlayer" method on the FLVPlayback class and thought that might be a "round about" way of controlling the underlying VideoPlayer instance, but haven't gotten that to work properly.

Aug 4, 2010I am going to be upset if you cannot use addASCuePoint (or a similar method) with the netstream object.. Ive done a bit of googling and that is what I am seeing. Apparently it only works with the FLVPlayback component, but I havent seen any official docs stating that.

Mar 26, 2010I have a flex 3 app that uses netstream and a video object to stream .mp4 movies. I want to use the bytesLoaded and bytesTotal properties of the netstream to display the buffering information. I would also like to get any information about the number of frames that are dropped if possible.
When I've tested on .flv I'm able to get the information without a problem, but it doesn't seem to work on .mp4.
Is it possible to get this information streaming .mp4? Is there some configuration that I'm missing to make things work the same for .mp4 as .flv?

Media Server :: NetStream BytesLoaded Not Registering With Streaming?
Jul 10, 2009I'm working with a custom made Flash video player using FMS (Wowza, actually).The video is working, yet when I access the BytesLoaded and BytesTotal,I get 0 (zero) for each.This even persists as the video is loading and playing.It's as if it is not even being registered at all.Here's the code:

Jun 29, 2011I have a Flex/AIR desktop application that connects a local camera and microphone to a NetStream for delivery to a Flash media server.However, I would also like to archive a copy of the outgoing stream locally on the filesystem. Is there any access to the actual bytestream of a NetStream object (even in the dreaded mx.internal namespace) that I could turn around and feed to a FileStream for the local archive?

Apr 10, 2011I am streaming flash video and the dimension of the video is 1280 by 720 (same size as the stage)
but just before the video streams, there is a quick flash of the video (about 320px by 240px) at the top corner of the stage, and then it plays the videos at the correct size (which is 1280 by 720) .... a quick flash is the best way I can explain it.

Sep 23, 2010I am streaming pre recorded audio files (mp4) to an AIR client. I have tried two different solutions,
streaming the file directly with the NetStream.play("mp4:xxxxx.m4a") and creating a server side playlist, adding the same sound clip and then streaming the playlist. The problem is, when streaming the playlist i get a few NetStream.Play.InsufficientBW, this does not happen when streaming the file direct. Both solutions uses bufferTime=1.0
I would like to use a server side playlist to implement a simple key solution so that the client dont know the full path to the file, but instead sends a key to a custom server side function that looks up the file path and creates a stream for the client.
ActionScript 3.0 :: NetStream.time - Misreporting Time On Streaming Flv?
Feb 13, 2009Is there a particular reason that when you stream a video your _netStream.time will misreport the elapsed time of the stream? I've tested streaming vs progressive download and discovered that while progressive netStream.time seems spot-on accurate the streaming netStream.time is behind the actual running time of the flv.
In other words, the video has played to completion and stopped, but the seek bar has only progressed 85% of the way through on a stream.
Is this something to do with the sample rate of the video, or some other encoding issue?

Oct 31, 2010I need a flash video player for our public site where users will share videos.The video usage model is similar to youtube as far as video part is concerned.Users will upload and share videos. Users will browse and play all shared videos as well.The videos will be streamed from the server and our app is a .NET/C#/JQuery application.We have 3 options:
1) Either buy a commercial flash player
2) Customize a open source player or use free player and customize its gui
3) Develop our own (time consuming and last resort)
I am required to find a flash video player with these requirements:
Player should work in all major browsers (IE, FF, Chrome, Safari)
Player should have way to inject Advertisement clips when playing a video file
Light weight and easy to integrate
Must support streaming and scale
Plus all other basic features of a flash video player.

Mar 11, 2009hi guys, basically quick rundown is:
1. container1-->bitmap image with bitmapData.
2. container2-->bitmap image with bitmapdata.
3. im using the latest tweenmax
4. have correctly added a 2 seperate scrollrects to container1 and container2 that takes the width and height of the stage.
5. tweenmax is only moving the rectangles.
I get the effect i want, however, it still lags a choppy animation. Anyone know how come?

Apr 5, 2012I'm making a video player in AS3 and was wondering how to find out how much of the video is currently cached/buffered. I'm not sure what the correct terminology is, so I haven't been able to find it in the documentation.
NetStream.time gives me the current location of the video, so based on that I can display a progressbar.
Underneath the progressbar, I want to display how much of the video has been loaded already. How do I find this value?

Aug 27, 2007Using netstream to load in a video and have the buffer to basically load the entire video before it starts playing. So the video doesn't begin to play until the buffer is full but while the buffer is filling up, the cue points are being read and triggering actions.
