I'm doing a project for my graphic design course in Flash using Action script 3.0, just wondering if it's possible to have a mouse over event that will open another flash window that will play a video.

I work with 3d animation. Im have a problem with a personal website Im doing, I have a link in a button inside a flash movie to open a new window and play a youtube movie:

This works fine in Firefox but in IE it doesnt work, I then change the /v/ in the youtube link with /p.swf?video_id= and now I have the window open showing the small youtube thumbnail of my video but once a click play, nothing happens, I check it and is not loading anything.
1) how do you open a new window if you have thumbnail pics in the flash movie but want the full pic to open up in a new window? Is this Javascript inside flash?
2) How do they do the menu bar here at this site:[URL]
I can only do so much with flash. I am having issues with linking to a video. Here is my question: please refer to [URL] and click on the video link. I have 3 videos that I want people to view when they click on the links:
- SI TU T'EN VAS (2001)
- GWADA (2004)
- JODIA (2008)
I need the links to be able to open a popup window in flash with 320X240 in size.
1- I imported each video in flash (separatly) using the 30rates/frames, progressive dowload from webserver. (the usual).
2- I allready uploaded the videos (.swf and .flv) on the server (godaddy.com)
3- In my main file, I created a button for each one of the links above using the invisible button with their own instances. they are each on a different layer.
I have create a game and added keydown event on Stage but but problem is user need to click on stage then it start capturing keydown event. I want that when game window open after that user don't need to click on flash stage area for unable keydown event..

View 3 RepliesIs there any way to have as3 'listen' for a window to be opened anywhere from the _parent page?I have a Flash animation running with sound on my _parent html page. There are html links elsewhere on the page that will open up other sites. I would like these sites to open in a _blank window rather than the _parent, but to make this practical I need the sound in my flash animation to shut off when this happens. (as there is sound on the other pages as well).It would be really cool if the sound on the _parent page would turn back on when the user closes the new window, although this would complicate things as it is possible the user may open multiple windows so the code would have to keep a count of windows opened.
View 2 RepliesI want a movie clip (let's call it homecontent_MC) with 100 frames play to frame 80 and stop.Then when someone clicks a button on the navigation bar (home, about, services, contact, etc...) homecontent_MC would then begin playing from it's position (frame 80) til it reaches 100, at which point it wouldn't be on screen, and the movie clip that corresponds to the navigation button press (say services_MC...) would start from frame 1 and continue til it stops at it's frame 80...
View 7 RepliesI have two mp4 video files on webserver, i wanted to play them in flash player(flv player) on my asp.net page, but i couldn't be able to play them, i also tried to play them in quick time player the same prob occured. but i waz giving the accurate path, there were no spaces in mp4 file names etc. Does it need to have mp4 player(or codec etc) installed on webserver?
I have also some wmv files on that server , and i am playing perfectly using silver light player, and media player object on my website.
I am trying to get a youtube video to play in a fancybox popup window. The popup window comes up okay, but the video does not play. Firebug indicates that all the necessary elements are loading, but no video.On this page everything works fine.On this page the window pops up but no video. Here is the html:

I am preparing a presentation DVD... DVD will contain wmv video, user manual and another flash exe file... So DVD interface will contain three elements; user manual, a flash exe file and video.. Flash video window will be short-time video, playing like 5-10 seconds then repeats itself... My question is, how could I accomplish to put video window playing certain amount of time then repeats itself, in main window? I need as3 fla example, which could be so useful for me..

View 3 RepliesI have a flash slide on my site. The slide has next and previous buttons to either move to the next slide or the previous slide. Each slide is only an image. When you click a particular image it takes you to the page specific to the image you clicked.
My issue is this: When you click the image, it opens the page in a new window. I would like to have the window open in the same window, but having issues figuring out how to do it.
The flash is controled by an image.xml script. I've added target= "_blank" to the xml, but the URLs are still opening in a seperate window. I didnt create the flash, is it possible the issues lies within the .fla file?

I'm trying to get the link to open in the same window instead of a new window, it's currently set to _blank. I tried _top, _self, _parent. When it's set to anything other than _blank the link doesn't work.

I'm running an online game site, and a few websites are really bad about embedding some of my games and stealing bandwidth.
To combat this, I replaced the original files with super-simple .swf files that redirected back to my own websites -- thus stealing back the traffic that they were stealing from me.
The problem came later when something changed with the new Flash player, and new windows no longer opened. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get new windows to open. I've tried a few different approaches, but nothing appears to work.
So what I'm wondering is, can this even be done anymore -- where I can switch out a .swf that's being leeched with one that opens a window to my own site?

I am building a kiosk app in flash and need to open browser windows whenever there is a URL link. The problem is that when the browser window opens, the fullscreen flash becomes a resizable window and the user has to close the window and open the flash app again to make it full screen again. So i'm wondering if there's any way I can open a browser window within the flash app sort of like an iframe or lightbox pop up? I've heard of this Native Window thing but I'm not sure what that is.

I have been looking online...looks like the new script is: url request? I see parts of pieces of what I need, but I have yet to see the complete correct example. Can someone please post the script to forward my intro to my index page. I would like index to open in the same window (_self).

I am trying to open a new browser window from within my Flash app. To do this, I am using the line:[URL]..The problem is that when I test the code from in Flash CS4 nothing happens! It's like the line of code isn't there. But when I manually open the .html file which Flash CS4 generated that embeds my .swf, then the Flash app opens in my browser and promptly opens a new window to yahoo juat like it should, so it does not seem to be an AS3 syntax issue. I just got a new computer yesterday, with a fresh install of Flash CS4. I do not have this problem on my old computer. The old computer runs the code perfectly. Could there be some weird default security settings at work here in Flash CS4?
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of problem, or any clue what might be happening?
Is there a way to open a new window from Flash as a pop-up (i.e. a specific size without toolbars etc.). The new window needs to hold some flash movies in AS3 which arn't compatible with the AS2 parent movie.
View 3 RepliesWebwasp has got this rather cool looking script posted that is supposed to allow you to open a browser window, AND allow you to define its width, height, etc -- all from Flash!! It's posted here: [URL] The problem is, I can't get the darn thing to work! They've got an example swf posted on that page, and there is the option to download the source...but only if you PAY! All the code is there, which I tried to copy and paste into my own file and publish, but it don't work! (And yes, I did publish it as an html file and view it in the browser, and yes, I did have pop1.htm and pop2.htm files for Flash to open!)

The problem aren't about html, php or webdesign itself I believe, but the problem is the flash menu. The menu is coded to open the buttons in the same window, but it doesn't, it opens the links in a new tab/window which is very annoying, I've tried to fix it by adding "_self" to the flash file, but it doesn't work at all now, it doesn't go anywhere when I press on the menu!
