Dec 17, 2009i created my subMenu buttons fine, however i only know how to link them to a picture/url address, my goal is to have the user click the subMenu button and open the image or page right below the menu bar in the "stage" area of flash. I read about IFrames but i'd rather create the whole site in flash .Here is the code for my subMenu...

What I'm looking for is this: I have a box, that is coverted to a button symbol given the name 'mailto'I have another layer for the actionscript I have imported 'flash.net.navigateToURL' and 'flash.net.URLRequest'
I know I need to create a function or a variable to link in the already created button. Do I also need to import the MouseEvents?
I created this FLA to get used to CS4 (i was previously using8)Everything works wonderfully, I would just like to know how to use AS3 properly, without having to call defeat and create the FLA again using AS2.

Jun 21, 2009I have an an array of objects. I populate the datagrid from the array. The nmber of columns in the datagrid is fix i.e.5 and the first column always shows serial number (0,1,2,3,4). I have a link button called 'CLEAR' in the last column of the datagrid.
1> How do I make the clear button visible only when the row is particularly clicked 2> When the clear button is clicked, how do I make the contents of that particular row cleared. Not deleted, only cleared to insert data again. Also, the serial number (0,1,2,3,4) should not be cleared, nor deleted. How to do this ?

Jun 2, 2010I bought a flash template last week and have more or less being able to modify it to the way I wanted, its 95% done & I've had to make a couple sacrifices due to my lack of flash knowledge.
The blog on the website is now on a subdomain (I'm using wordpress for the blog), I also had a registration email form on my current site which is now gonna be on a seperate html subdomain too.
My problem is that I have one page on the flash template that I wanted to use for the blog but as that's not easily done. Instead of using the button to open an empty page, is there anyway I can redirect it to the Blog on the subdomain & open it in a blank window/tab?

Sep 12, 2009i have a friend who are dentist and ive agreed to do a web site for him. I do it in cs4. Like so: ive made a pretty simple and nice layout i plan to use for all pages with some images an so on .Now ive made lots of buttons wich all opens in a timeline nice and slow (not to slow). On the index page i have a menu called "treatments" wich requir some room. I want to make a button called "treatments" wich can open and collaps to 3-4 minor buttons wich then again can link to diffrent pages describing different treatments. Now i need the treatment button to open up the 3-4 minor buttons one by one smooth(tweened with the alpha slider) with same frame rate as the other ones on the page and collaps again.

Dec 21, 2011I'm completely new to flash and have figured out most of the basic features on my own thus far, but I'm completely stumped with this one issue of linking a pdf to a button. I'm using Flash CS5. I've used the recommended code on code snippet, I've used codes that were recommended and I've tweaked it, but it still not opening my pdf. Here is the current code that I am using. This is from the code snippet. I've used this code to get my different scenes and it works, don't know why I'm having such a hard time with this.

Jan 11, 2009I am trying to modify a template that I have:There are 6 menu buttons on the top, they have rollover animation effects, as well as animation click effects. It did not come scripted with the action of which page to load when you click on them. The way the template was written, it uses the same script for all the buttons. What should I stick into cause it to load different webpages, (index, index1, etc..) based on which menu button it is over the current script for the buttons are as follows:This is on a sprite, not a button object.There are multiple menu buttons of the same sprite. I have been working on an example site followed a bunch of tutorials, i created the site i wanted and now i'm working on the navigation i created five buttons each with the own rollover state, up state and down state. hat part works well, now i need them to go to the various pages on my site.i tried some code from this website and it should have worked but i keep getting a button instance issu. saying it can only be applied to an instance. it seems as if i;m trying to load the link in that frame. what i don't understand is how to load the link to the buttons property i know this question gets asked lot but can some please take some time and explain this to me.

Flash 8 - How To Link Two SWF Files Through Button
Jan 15, 2010I have got two flash files now, one called intro.swf and the other called egx.swf. I have a button on the intro file with an instance name of b1, which I want to open up the other file (the egx.swf file). I have tried several codes, but when I get it working, it loads up the homepage, but keeps the text and the button on the intro file up, which I need to get off. Basically I need to link the intro file and the egx file together through the button, and then need to get rid of the intro file from the stage.

Jul 19, 2010I have been trying to add a link to an animated button. I have it as a symbol for button and within the button symbol I have another movie clip symbol for the mouse over it will animate. I am trying to add a link to the animated button but it won't allow me to add actionscript when I get into the button symbol for the UP, DOWN, OVER, HIT, but it will allow me to add actionscript when I am in the scene. I have tried a few different actionscripts in the scene but it seems there is always an error and the movie clip keeps repeating the movie when I have it only running once, but when I remove the hyperlink actionscript the movie over runs once like I want it to.
