ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading A Compiled Flex Swf With Loader Class
Dec 25, 2008
I'm not sure whether to post this in a flex forum or here,but since the error is generated from AS3 code, I'll try it here.When I try to load a compiled flex swf with the loader class.As a test I tried 2 very basic programs:See the actionscript code in the attached code..As you can see I just load the swf without doing anything.I've found very few threads about this error, and even less solutions...Does anyone know if it's even possible to load a Flex swf?

I am working on a feature for an application that requires Flex 4 functionality. Due to some migration issues of the application from Flex 3.5 to 4.0, I have decided to implement this feature as a module that is compiled with Flex 4.0. The theory is that the application would remain compiled in Flex 3.5 and load the module when it needs it.[code]

I know that typically, a loader class normally can load in either a swf or an image file (like a jpeg), but there were some swf files that just would not load for some odd reason. So I decided to do some trial and error tests and discovered that the problem was coming from swfs that were compiled from flex.
At this point I decided to try a different approach and compile from flash instead using the .as file as a document class in a blank fla. I received the same effect of it not being loaded. It could not have possibly been a coding problem with the swfs compiled from flex; they were working fine on release-builds.
I've come to the conclusion that the problem is not with flex or flash, but just compiling swf from a document class. I did more research into the problem, and I only found that document class compiled swfs have only 2 frames (first one being the preloader, and the second being everything else). They had some example codes on using the loader class with these swfs, but the code only demonstrates with traces when its loaded; they don't actually explain or show how to make the swf viewable the way it should.

When i load a swf made by Flex 2.0 in my code (which is made with AS 3.0 *.as classes and compiled with mxmlc.exe) - the rendering of the swf is highly unstable in Firefox.
The .swf file *does* load, and no errors is thrown as far as i can see at runtime when i addChild the loaded swf. When checking ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, i see the file getting loaded.
I can see the loaded swf-file visually in my Firefox-browser about 1/4 of the times i refresh the page. (I clear cache every time).
If i load a jpg-picture or a swf-file published from Flash 9 Public Alpha, (even Flash 8) everything works as a charm.
My Flashplayer is 9,0,16,0 for both IE and Firefox.
I have tried to turn on and off all imaginable settings inside Flex publishing settings, but nothing seems to help, and im renderd puzzled by the randomness of this error.

I compiled a simple AS3 project using Flex 3.5 (also tried Flex 4.1) to create a small swf which draws a simple red square on screen. Nothing too complex that requires special flashplayer support (see code below)
package
{
import flash.display.Sprite;
/**
[Code]....
and tried to load it into a AS2 swf I have compiled using Flash CS4. But that just didn't work. I don't get any errors when loading and the AS2 swf can load any swf, either compiled in AS2 or AS3 by Flash.

I'm having some problems importing a class, the message that Flash gives me is this; The class being compiled, 'ImageLoader', does not match the class that was imported, '[URL]'. The only line of code in my flash movie is this: import com.martijndevisser.*; And yes, the class is in that folder The class is from here: [URL] I've used the class before and it works fine, I just dont know what to do?

I'm trying to load images using the loader class but it doesn't seem to ever trigger the complete event (in this case anyway). The images are only 16x16px images from the local machine, so it should take no time at all to load. I use the totalImages variable as a counter; as an image is loaded, it subtracts 1 from it. Once it is 0, all images are loaded. I can create an instance and it goes as far as tracing "Begin loading images", but that's it. No errors in the console either.
PHP Code:
package lib{
import flash.display.Bitmap;
import flash.display.BitmapData;
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.geom.Rectangle;
import flash.net.URLRequest;
import flash.events.Event;
public class Frame extends Bitmap{

I'm working with Loader class in as3 and there comes some really strange problem. I have two swf files, one loading the other. In the first one, I have codes like this:
var loader:Loader=new Loader();
var context:LoaderContext=new LoaderContext();
context.applicationDomain=ApplicationDomain.curren tDomain;
var req:URLRequest=new URLRequest("Untitled-1.swf");
loader.load(req);
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.CO MPLETE,onCPL);
function onCPL(e):void{
trace("finish");
addChild(e.currentTarget.content);
}
And the second one, with the name "Untitled-1.swf", doesn't seem to work in the first one. I find out that as long as there are ANY codes in the second swf file, the first one will repeat tracing "finish" endlessly.

How come and from when Flash started treating .png and .PNG in different way and why the image loaded to 13KB and said invalid url..?

I've been trying to figure this out for the past couple of days and couldn't find a solution and Im sure its something I have completely overlooked on my part. I'm attempting to load in an external swf in my fla file using this custom loader class I created. I keep receiving this error in an attempt to load the swf, which is in the same directory as my fla file that is loading it:
TypeError: Error #2007: Parameter url must be non-null.
at flash.display::Loader/_load()
at flash.display::Loader/load()
at com.proj.load::SWFLoadClass()
at test_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()
Code from SWFLoadClass.as:
package com.proj.load {
import flash.display.Loader;
import flash.net.URLRequest;
import flash.events.Event;
import flash.display.MovieClip;
[Code] .....
Code in fla file:
import com.proj.load.SWFLoadClass;
var l:SWFLoadClass = new SWFLoadClass("colorPicker.swf", 0, 0);
addChild(l);

In the Flash app I'm building, I have a "main" SWF that will load a variety of "child" SWFs.
All of the AS3 code for both the main SWF and child SWFs is contained in external .as class files.
In other words, each movie has it's own document class .as file.
There are also a number of .as class files for all of the common elements (e..g, UI buttons and controls).
So - for example - both my main SWF and all child SWFs use the "MyCommandButton" class; the code for this class is in MyCommandButton.as, which all SWFs reference (import).
Here's what I don't understand.
(Let's say that the code in MyCommandButton.as draws buttons that are red.)
First, I compile ALL of the child SWFs.
Next, I change MyCommandButton.as, so that the buttons it draws are blue, instead of red.
Then, I compile the main SWF.
When I run the app (main.swf), I would expect all of the buttons in the main SWF to be blue (since that's what MyCommandButton.as specified when main.swf was compiled), and all of the buttons in the child SWFs will be red (since that's what MyCommandButton.as specified when they were compiled.)
Instead, ALL of the buttons are blue, which means the change I made to MyCommandButton.as affected all of the child SWFs, even though I didn't recompile them.

I'm new to ActionScript and Flex but I was wondering, when do you create an MXML component and when do you simply code it in ActionScript? Does it matter either way, what are the pros & cons to both?
Does an MXML Component essentially create it's own class when compiled?

I am dynamically loading external SWFs in a Main Fla in response to clicks on a menu.
The loading code is standard and works fine for all of the SWFs except one. When I try to load it I get the following error: Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.
I am certain that the URL to the problem SWF is correct. The SWF itself doesn't load any other SWFs or images. The problem SWF is linked to an external class file and compiled with it. i.e. in the properties panel of the main timeline of the problem SWF's Fla I have entered the path to the external class.
1. there is no problem compiling this SWF with the class (it works fine by itself)2. if I remove the external class from the properties panel and don't use it the resulting SWF imports without a problem into the Main Fla mentioned before So the problem seems to be the fact that the external class is linked in the properties panel. Is this a path problem?

[code]This script is for a loader image gallery in flash, as part of a class assignment. What happens is that in flash, when I open the swf file, the initial image (images/nair_evanescentautumn.png) will load fine. However, clicking on any thumbnail image (including the exact same images/nair_evanescentautumn.png), will result in an error saying the file cannot be found.I cannot figure out why it is doing this... I've tested it over. Clicking each thumbnail does go to the correct position in the two separate functions. All said full-size image links are in the folder images/, and replacing the initial loader image will load the other images in place of the default one. However, clicking on any thumbnail still results in URL not found, even though everything works correctly.[code]Before anyone asks why I'm putting this kind of content into a flash site, I'm not--this is only for a class assignment. I'm just trying to figure out why my images aren't loading right when I'm only doing the exact same thing in the functions as I am on the other pages.Of note, commissions.swf has the exact same feature, just with swf files loaded instead, and it works perfectly fine. home, traditional, digital, and photography all have the image gallery, and all have the same issue (I only referenced one page because if I can fix one page I should be able to fix all of them).As for the artworks, they are all my fiance's. The website design was built for her, and I used the website design for this project because I didn't want to have to build an entirely new interface design. Since the project also required a gallery, I felt that this interface would work just fine.

I'm building an Adobe Air app that needs to load external images from different webservers. I have my basic loader function set up, but I encountered one server that wouldn't let me load it's images. it gave me the following error[url]...
After that I got in contact with the server's manager and he told me he had been working on some basisc hotlink protection for his images. He also told me that I could subvert this by supplying[url]... as the referrer when building the request headers.
First of all I found no trace of hotlink protection with online testapplications for hotlink protection. Secondly I have no idea how to set up what he told me with a simple Loader class function.[code]...

We have a Flash game which need to be loaded and played from an AIR app. using the swf loader, the game swf is loaded into the AIR app. But the static background layers of the swf are not appearing in the loaded game.
Those graphical elements which are generated via action script only are appearing. When we are playing it independently (outside the AIR app), it works fine. Is there a setting that i am missing in Flash or Flex. we are working with Flex 4.

Sorry for the complicated topic. I got a .swf that loads in other .swfs. Rather than figuring out how to make a loader for loading .swfs I thought I'd just use a simple loader in the .swf I'm loading.
However, it doesn't work. It starts fully loaded but doesn't finish. Heres the AS:[AS]_root.stop();
PercentLoaded = _root.getBytesLoaded()/_root.getBytesTotal()*100;

I have a Flex application that can load modules as necessary. When the first module is loaded, it creates a class MyBackground(), which paints the background red. When I choose to load a second module (and unload the first) I again load a class MyBackground (from the second module). However, when I step into the constructor for MyBackground, it goes straight into the constructor for the UIComponentDescriptor:
[Code]...
Is this something to do with using the same application domain for each module that I load? Does Flex load in the class types into the parent application and cache them, so when I request a class the second time it just does a lookup, without actually seeing if the class is the same?

I have a movieclip created in CS4. I export that into my Flex Project's /lib and then try to access the text. All the textfields have ids, embedded text, and show up in intellisense. But when i run the project, the textfield is blank. What is going on?It appears to only not work when the text is embedded. Non embedded text works fine.

I've got a flex app that hits a remote SOAP service and populates a list with the results.
It works fine when i run it through flex builder, but when i compile the application and move it onto a webserver it can't access the services.
I've tried it from a standalone webserver and on my own machine. I'm assuming that there's a security issue that i've missed as i can't think of any other reason why it's ok in flex builder but not when compiled on the same box.

I am using Adobe Flash Builder 4.
I've run into this issue with my latest project, but I was able to re-create it with an almost empty project. Here is what I've done.
Created a new Flex Project Created a locale/en_US folder within this project. Added a class that extends SparkDownloadProgressBar. All this class does is attempt to create a Label.
When I try to debug this application, I get the following error.
Error: Could not find compiled resource bundle 'components' for locale 'en_US'.
at mx.resources::ResourceManagerImpl/installCompiledResourceBundle()[E:dev4.0.0frameworksprojectsframeworksrcmx
esourcesResourceManagerImpl.as:340]
[Code]....
The Flex Compiler/Additional Compiler Arguments section does contain "-locale en_US", but I do not want to just remove this as I am planning to have this load different property files based on the localization region at run-time and how I understand it, I will need to add each locale that I am planning to use on the compile argument line.

I have several Flex applications in a project, and I would like to know if there's a way to get a list of the classes (and ideally, other assets) that are being compiled into each one. I want an easy way of making sure I've kept things separate and there aren't unnecessary dependencies. Any ideas? I'm running Flash Builder 4.

I have created an API in AS3 that uses Flex bindings. The API is being used by two other developers. I am delivering the API in an SWC that includes all code, including the required Flex libraries. The two other developers are building the API into AS3-only projects. One developer is compiling using the Flex SDK through FDT. He includes the SWC in his project and he is able to bind any bindable property. When he uses ChangeWatcher.canWatch on a bindable property, it returns true.
The second developer is compiling using the Flash CS5 IDE. He includes the SWC in his project using the Actionscript settings window (merged into code). But none of the bindings, including ones internal to the API, are working. When he uses ChangeWatcher.canWatch on a bindable property, it returns false. What could the Flash IDE be stripping out that causes ChangeWatcher to stop functioning? What is ChangeWatcher.canWatch actually checking? Is it the metadata, and if so, how can the metadata be preserved in the Flash IDE?

I'm trying to compile an SWC file and everything works great until the part where it needs to add components, none of them added added to the .swc file at all.
The original file should be somewhere around 211 KB and when i compile it its only 1.64 KB, after unpacking the .swc and then the .swf inside it i can see that there is no components added at all.
BTW some components showing some errors but i dont think its a reason to not include ALL the components because the errors are like:
Description Resource Path Location Type
1084: Syntax error: expecting rightparen before leftbrace. XXX.as /XXX/[source path] src/com/XXX line 1469 Flex Problem
What could the problem be? ask me if you need some future info cause i don't really know what to include in here cause there is no code it's only a project with a library.

I've built a form in Flex. When I run the flex project, I get a html file with some js, css and swf files (NOT A SINGLE FILE), swz files. When I run the main swf file alone, many things are working perfectly except at places where it needs to send a HTTPService request. When I use the html file, all works fine.
Now I want to do the following.Import this form made in flex into a flash site (actionscript 3)This form has various ViewStacks, where the user will be travelling through these. I want to reload the form back to its initial stage when the user wants to fill the fields again. Can there be any request sent to the Flash Site from this FORM, regarding the form submission success Can I compile the Flex Project to one single swf file, so that I can use this swf file without any Browser? Can I convert the webpage application Flex Project to an Adobe AIR application [URL]..
