ActionScript 3.0 :: Page File Usage Filling Up?

I have a small random image slideshow to go on the main page of the site I am building, which The problem is that it is causing the "Page File Usage" to fill up, and eventually causes the computer to freeze up.Here is the code, which is for the random image to be added on a timed basis

I have tried so many ways to get it stop filling up the cache, but I just cant work it out. I'm thinking maybe a do while statement or maybe a removeChild?

i've created a php file which grabs ID, name, URL1, URL2, and Price from a table and puts it into an array called 'loadpics'.Now here is where i'm lost.How can i then put pictures into flash from the URLS in the variable? how to tell flash to create the pictures... Do i need to use a component or something? Or do i create a movieclip and somehow load them in there? if someone has an xml script example of putting images from the urls in the variable created by the php.

I have been working on an Adobe Flex application for some months now, and the application is meant to run 24/7 for days (weeks!) continuously. However, I'm now seeing that after a few days of running nonstop the computer it runs on tells me that the system is low on virtual memory and gives me an error about Page File usage. Once I close the Flex app, the Page File usage goes down from 1.9 GB to 100 MB (or less). It seems that its using up all this memory and not freeing it although I have been very careful in my app to not keep huge arrays.The app does some graphing and draws a lot of shapes (to greate a 'gauge') and then gets rid of them by re-declaring that object as another 'gauge'.

I wrote an application in flash AS3, and when I trace from flash the total memory usage of the total application is only about 9MB, But at the same time Task Manager Shows the memory usage as 110MB. Around 100MB difference.Flash Trace Method System.totalMemory difference of the Trace from the Beginning of the application to end of the application.

I am able to pass a variable from an html link that loads a separate html file and instructs the embedded file to go to a specific frame.But - I now need a link within an swf file on one page to open a new page and tell that swf to start on a specific frame and it is not working. Here is the code I use for the first example - works like a champ:

i'm trying to build a flash site and ran into a problem... i have a gallery page with a bunch of page numbers at the top. when you click on one, a movieclip loads of some images coming in.so the problem i'm having is that i made a little animation for when you roll the mouse over the page number (they scale up when the mouse is over, scale back when the cursor moves away)... what it's doing is when you roll over, it goes to a certain frame in the timeline and plays that animation.that's all working cool, but i need it to not do that once it's clicked on. so basically when you actually click on a page number, the over script should stop until you go to another page... here's the code i've written,

I have an animated logo swf file that loads and runs once on the home page every time the page loads. The logo has been updated to appear in three different colour schemes. I want one scheme to load and when the page is refreshed or revisited, one of the other colour schemes to load in its place. They can appear in any random order, just a different one to the one that played before reloading.Can someone point me to an answer or tell me how to do it? I have found a way in JavaScript but this only works on plain images, not swf files.

I have created a booklet in InDesign cs4 that includes page turn transitions. I have saved it as a SWF file and it works perfectly on my PC with the ability to sweep through the page turns. My issue is now, what type of file can I export the SWF file to so that I can view it on an iPad and am still able to have the page curls?

I come across a problem when i follow the book "classroom in a book series" the Flash CS4 one (Red cover book) Chapter 2 Q.1 I try to draw straight lines or curves but i found i still cannot manage how to use PEN TOOL How can i draw straight line? Also how can i draw absolute vertical or horizontal line with some special combination key like CTRL or SHIFT i tried guessing SHIFT or CTRL while using PEN TOOL but no help
How can i draw curve? i know it depends somehow on whether i hold my click for a new anchor point? Any tutorial which is clear and easy for new comer for fully understanding for PEN TOOL.(Currently i try reading pdf reference from ADOBE Web site and google search but did not make myself understand.)

This is a very very basic question.I am able to colour and otherwise manipulate elementary vector objects, such as rectangles. Yes, I know how to use the colour panel and the fil land ink pot tool. However, sometimes I can colour a vector shape drawn with the pen tool and sometimes I cannot. It seems completely random.In detail: select keyframe on an empty layer.I make a triangle with the pen tool, and a small circle shows completion. I get a triangle.This is coloured not for the stroke but for the layer. It seems to exist in two densities - a layer coloured line for drawing, a thicker, same-coloured one after selection.However, neither the ink bottle nor the fill tool do anything. I can set the colour in advance, or after the event, through the colour panel or otherwise, nothing. A gradient fill does not even show the guide lines for the fill tool.

I'm trying to map XML tags inside an external file to the cells in a data grid. The only thing on the stage of my movie is a data-grid component with an instance name of dg. The movie loads an XML file named list.xml. Here are the contents of list.xml

However, when I test the movie, only the headings are correctly displayed. The rest of the grid is blank. I know the arrays for the names, prices, and quantities are full of data. I'm just not sure how to put their data into the grid.

I want to set a maximum in the database and then for each row as a percentage of the maximum - it would fill the image based on the black volume.
Take the volume in flash of the lightning bolt (pixels), then fill it with a color as rows increase from 0 to the maximum number.

I have an online flash video player fed by a playlist driven by XML. This XML is generated from a mySQL database via 'playlist.php'. The issue I am having is that when I feed the php generated xml into the player, it only reads the top level/hierarchy of xml information into the playlist (i.e. gallery level, when below that is category, and ultimately video).
When I copy the output of the php generated xml into a normal xml file (i.e. playlist.xml), the playlist is fed with all of the appropriate information, and is complete.
Can you tell me why my flash (as3) video player and playlist will recognise 'playlist.xml' but not 'playlist.php' information?[URL]..A link to the player, which is currently hooked up to 'playlist.php' is at the same address but with theater.html instead of playlist.

I have a datagrid, which gets filled by an ArrayList. I want one column to be filled by another ArrayList. I've tried doing it like this, but that only gets the first three columns filled, not the last one (with the different ArrayList):

I designed one virtual keyboard it working fine for one text filled. But if i have more than one text filled, or a complete form it not working.... Even in some text filled like Address i need to activate the enter command so that it will goto the next line. And finally the tab which i want to toggle between the text filled. I have a rectangular area that I would like to randomly auto fill with objects.I currently have a custom object, that includes a Rectangle property defining the x,y,width,and height of this particular area.Next I want to be able to randomly fill it with more shape objects, which will randomly vary in size, and position. These objects will be stored in arrays, and will be drawn to a bitmap representing this area. please see the attached diagram.
