ActionScript 3.0 :: Populate Dynamic XML / JSON Into Select Boxes?

Product Listing Application based on dropdown select boxes and data comming from a dynamicly created XML/JSON from a PHP Webservice.
Here's the architecture: 3 Select Boxes (manufacturer, product series, model)
In the first instance selectbox 1 (manufactur) should list all manufacturers
If you select a manufacturer it should update a second selectbox with all relevated product series and update the last selectbox (model) with all relevated models to the matching manufacturer and product series.
Now there allready exsists a webservice where you can return XML Data or a JSON Object with httpd requests like[code]...

I have saved out an object using JSON.encode to a text file, is it possible to then create a new MovieClip and populate it with all of the properties from the saved file? If so how would it be done, or is there a better way

I'm trying to animate a simple stick figure just now. I used an inverted triangle shape for the body,which gives a nice width to the shoulders. Unfortunately, flash doesn't seem to realise that it's a triangle. Due to it's stubborn way of drawing a rectangular bounding box around every shape.
This is getting in the way a lot, as there are parts of figure which are clearly not blocked by the torso, but are blocked by it's big square bounding box, which makes it a nightmare to drag the arms and legs around to where I want them
Is there any way to fix this silly behaviour, and have it only select an object when I click on a visible part of it, and not just anywhere in it's bounding box ?

can't figure out why the dynamic text boxes in my dynamic clip arent picking up the variable when I loop through this recordset!the trace (you'll see here right after I try two ways to assign the variable) traces the correct info back..

Created an editable flex grid which exposes a method called getGridData() to javascript. I am using the JSON.encode() method of the [url]....library to convert the grid object's dataProvider into JSON before returning it.
ExternalInterface.addCallback("getGridData", getGridData);

However, when I sort a column in the user interface, the encode method is failing throwing the following error
Property usingCustomCompareFunction not found on mx.collections.SortField and there is no default value.

I have a MS Access query ProductDetailsAll that is queried using an ASP.net web service. The service simply fills a data table with query results. How do I setup and pass parameters from Flash? I need to sear ProductDetailsAll for records having CategoryID 1 or 3 based on user selection. How is the CategoryID passed from Flash to the web service?
I have created rectangle objects in Flash. Each one must contain product name, description, price and the image from the ProductDetailsAll query. How do I pass the search phrase from Flash to the query? Do I use dynamic text boxes to house the returned values?

I'm working on a Flash AS2 application that needs to post JSON data to a web service.In previous projects, I've used LoadVars.send() or LoadVars.sendAndLoad() successfully to manage this:

In somepage.php, I can grab that JSON data using $_POST['data'].However, on this project, the developer of the web service requires the JSON content to be the BODY of the request (i.e., not a name/value pair). Is this possible with LoadVars?

I would like to be able to dynamically populate a dynamictext field (assuming that's the best component to use) with anarray of data from PHP.I have attached my PHP code and my Flash Code.The PHP code is working fine and generating the array.The first part of the AS code is working as I can see thepop-up window with the PHP array in it. I am creating an app using CS4 flash. I have it calling an asp containing xml with from 1 to 30 records. I am using a gallery written in AS3.0 called SlicedCubeGallery. It used Flex to publish the gallery.I can edit the functions for the SlicedCubeGallery, and the one I am targeting is the one that swaps the images (which I have running on a timer).I am loading the whole gallery SWF onto my stage using this code:

I have to work with webservices in Actionscript. I found the following code that allows me to use JSON URLs that implement only the GET method. However, it doesn't work for POST methods (doesn't even enter the "onComplete" method). How can i "POST" JSON data using Actionscript 3.0?

I have a Flash site I am developing that feeds in XML into various arrays and populates dynamic movie clips and text fields. I am having trouble making a for loop that works with my movieclips and text fields. I am probably only missing one step and if I can figure it out I will cut my lines of code about 10X. I have attached the fla and image files in a zip file.

I want my user to be able to add a text box to the stage that they can move(drag and drop) and go back and change the text later. This might be straight forward, but I would like to know how could one link dynamic text boxes so that the information would flow? In a way, the information would flow from:
(XML) Input A into BOXA00, BOXA01, BOXA02, BOXA03, etc.
(XML) Input B into BOXB00, BOXB01, BOXB02, BOXB03, etc.
(XML) Input C into BOXC00, BOXC01, BOXC02, , BOXC03, etc.

how can i set up buttons to fill text boxes with dynamic text from an xml document?i want button 1 to load some information about item1 in the text box when the button is moused over and then when the button is clicked it should open up a new browser window for that item.then button 2 will do the same thing in the same text box but with the info for item 2.i have 2 text boxes, one is called "title" which will have the name of the product, the other is named "ssnumber" and it will have the product number. already have an xml file. and i have already done this in as2 (and it worked fine but i just got word that the people hosting this will only accept as3. this is my first attempt at as3, it is a lot different.here is the code i have from my book

I am using xml to populate my dynamic text boxes... however when i load the web page and sometimes it takes a little longer the text boxes say Level 10 MC or undefined or something until the dynamic text gets loaded from the xml... What i am wondering is if there is a way to not display any text until the xml text is loaded into the file.

I'm using AS3 on timeline. There are four input text boxes (input_txt, input_txt1..) and one dynamic text (mess_txt). When user types answers on input text boxes, dynamic text should change to either correct or incorrect.
Dynamic text only changes when the last input text box changes text. why don't the others change as well? I have tried putting the else conditional in different places without success. [code]...

I'm having trouble with subtracting hp (a number in a dynamic text box). There's a variable on the main timeline for hp, and I'm trying to edit this when the character takes a hit.My character has over 350 hp at the beginning, but after one hit, it goes down to something like 1 or 6, and then after the next couple hits it'll go back to something in the 100s or 200s.

I am working on a exam program in Flash CS5. There's a page that displays the scores for each test a user has completed; and on that page I'm putting a print button so the users can print the results. So far I've found only one script that will actually work to print anything at all[code]...
The dynamic text boxes are supposed to be placed inside a movie clip called "proforma" and you're supposed to be able to place it anywhere, even off the stage - but where it apparently worked for the person in the thread I found it in, it doesn't work in my program. I don't know if it prints the dynamic text boxes; I can't get that far, because when I click print using this script, it tries to print every single frame in the program and practically kills my computer in the process, trying to spool so many pages.

Is there something I'm doing wrong here, or do I have to feed the array into normal variables for the dynamic text box to be able to read it?

I want to make a dynamic text field so that when a user clicks on it all the contents of the text box are selected to avoid users having to click and drag to select the contents. Is there some actionscript to get make the textbox select all when focused?
