ActionScript 3.0 :: Positioning The TextField Part Of The Combobox Component In CS4?

I'm trying to move the textField (or the TextInput) part of a combobox up a few pixels... should be easy but it's not. I've tried this:

cb.textField.y+=5;
and this:

I've viewed the properties of the TextInput, List, and Combobox components and can't find anything that will help me do this. I created the class mentioned in the link, and successfully linked the TextInput library symbol, but when I add a trace statement to the class I get nothing.

I have tried changing all the styles associated with the combobox (borderColor, etc), and set borderStyle to none (which made the border go away around the dropdown menu) but I can't for the life of me get the border that's around the main part of the combobox to go away or change color. I skinned the button to get it to be red, but I just can't figure out how to change that last detail.

I'm loading a XML to Dynamic Text field and all is OK, but the SWF is show at left out site of the flash document, I only want put a icon and a text in the same line, something like this:

when I create a textfield and use the centering property in the following way, I position it at x=0... but the middle of the text isn't at zero; seemingly the left border of a large... area of some sort is at x=0.

I have a textfield, that has a text value: France Paris. Now I need to know how I can take that string, cut it in 2 parts (France and Paris) and put those two parts in a var. So:
and somewhere i should get

var2 = Paris;
I know there is a split string command, but i'm not familiar with any of this stuff.

I'm having a hard time with dynamic text field formatting and I'm hoping that someone can shed some light on what the problem I'm having is.My understanding is that you can do some basic formatting of dynamic fields if you set them to render html ie the little <> button. So, I have an array containing a set of strings, which contain something akin to "<b>some text</b> the rest of the text" The problem I am having is that the text is not showing up as bold. In fact the text inside the bold tag is not showing up at all.Doing a search I came across the TextFormat(), but that appears to only be useful when formatting an entire textfield and not a portion of the whole field.

We are building a flash website with cms at the back end, and we are allowing admin to put anchors inside a content. Later we created a smaller version of the whole content to display just a small part and then [read more] button. Which add a new layer on top of every thing acting like a popup and it is populated with complete content.
Now we would like to scroll that text inside popup to that portion which [read more] button was clicked.
The most common example inside HTMl is go to top link in footer on most of the sites which move the whole document to top.

How can I send a combo box'es labels to a text box? I would just like it to display whatever the user picked in a text box. I tried using a listener:
objComboListener = new Object();
objComboListener.change = function(eventObj){
mon.text = eventObj.target.value;
} mon_cb.addEventListener("change", objComboListener);
mon.text is the textbox, mon_cb is the combo box.
There are two problems with the above code though:
A. It displays my data, and not the labels.
B. It only displays the first selection. E.g.; if I choose something, it will display that thing, but if I choose another choice, it continues to display the first selection.

Im trying to use the selected item in a combo box (aCB) to populate a text field (taLabel) the trace statement shows the correct item but i'm missing something simple to make it work. This is the error I get:
ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property null not found on fl.controls.ComboBox and there is no default value.

I am wanting to use the ComboBox Component in a Mobile App. Thing is the scrollbar is way to small.Is there any way to change the width of the scrollbar on the ComboBox either in code or by skinning it? I tried just adding some width to the scrollbar component by clicking into the component and changing the width,but it did not work correctly.

I am using Flash 8.Say I have 3 datas in the ComboBox - "one, two and three". We find that in SWF "one" is seen in the ComboBox even though the user hasn't selected the data from the ComboBox. "one" has become the default selection in the CoomboBox.I want the ComboBox component to be empty when swf is run.But I don't want the empty thing also to be shown when the dropdown is clicked.

I have searched high and low on this one and there are many different answers and suggestions.I am loading my text in via XML. I have made sure that it is UTF8 encoded.For any other dynamic text I would simply embed the characters I need.
So far I can change the colour and the size of the text in the combobox but just can't seem to figure out how to embed the french characters I need in there.I have created my own font and embedded the characters I need into a dynamic text field on the stage. The created font is named "appfont"

I'm trying to make a simple drop down list where each selection has its own value. I have a combobox with the following parameters.
Editable = false
Labels = choice1, choice2
Data = 0,1
Row Count = 8
Change Handler = blank
I have an instance name of "type" on the component. Now I have a dynamic text field with a var of "price" and on the first frame of my movie I have this code

But its not showing these values in my text field when I select those choices.

The update to the Dynamic Text Box is always one character behind what is entered into the TextInput component. For instance my name is Shawn, if I enter "Shawn" into the Text Input the Dynamic Text Boxes will display "Shaw". It will only enter the "n" if I type another character then backspace it, deleting the extra character.

I have a simple ComboBox onstage, with 5 options in it. Each one has a textual label, and is assigned a numeral "data" in the Component Inspector (1,2,3,4,5). I'm trying to get the playhead to move to a specific frame, according to which option is selected, and can't make it work. The trace turns out fine, but the playhead stays in place. (The ComboBox is called my_cb).

I am working on a quiz application for a client. I currently have an array that as the user goes from one question to another, it holds the question number if the user answers the question incorrectly. At the end I have the results of the array displayed on a dynamic text field.I was wondering if there is a way to display the contents of the array at the end on a comboBox or list component. And, is there a way to make the items on the comboBox or list component be clickable so that the user could navigate to a different place on the project (like the section that explains how to answer the question correctly).Right now i have the array being created at the beggining:var questionsArray:Array = new Array();I have acommand so that if the question is wrong, add the number of the quesiton to the array:questionsArray.push(" #1");and I display the results of the array at the end:

I've actaully got all of this working.All I need now is to make the comboBox text HTMLtext so that I can use the HTML tags to color the text different colors or bold them.It might be important to mention that I need to change only some of the things listed, not the entire list. So if my list on the comboBox is "item 1", "item 2", "item 3", "item 4", I only want "item 1" in bold and colored red.

When I add a ComboBox component into a Sprite, the height of the container is larger than it should.Here's what I mean:

the height changes from 101 to 104.
UPDATE:I've overwritten the configUI method in a ComboBox subclass, but the measurements are correct all the time. Why does the container height change to 100 ?

I am trying to populate a ComboBox from a ColdFusion component. The cfc is simply querying a db to get a list of products.
However, the code I am placing in the Actions panel:
function PartsList_Result(result) {
DataGlue.bindFormatStrings(test_cb, result, "#name#", "#partsID#");
}
doesn't appear to be working correctly. The only result I see is a blank box that when I hit the arrow, the first item in the query is returned. From what I have read, I thought that the code above would be all I need. So I'm not sure why:
1. The first item is not automatically selected
2. The rest of the list is not there.
