ActionScript 3.0 :: Random File From XML Into Array Loaded With URLRequest?
Jul 5, 2011
I'm trying to load my XML data into an array. And have this array be randomized, so everytime this swf will be started, another swf will be loaded. (I hope I make myself clear?) I get no error's and I traced the Array, but A it only shows 1 file and B it doesn't load this particular file.Here's my code:
I want to load an XML file and display at random a different line when a button is pressed. I swear I've seen dozens of different ways to do this online already and I've tried to copy them for my purpose
In efforts to allow users to save their progress in my application, I've decided to allow them to save. In order to do this, I'd like to create an array with all the necessary information, and send that information to a coldfusion (.cfm) file and process the information from that page. Is it possible to send an array instead of a bunch of url variables? It is possible (and quite probable) that users would exceed the query string length of most browsers.
I have loaded XML into flash and everything is great. I have an Associative Array that makes a dynamic menu and everything is great.
What I would like to do is combine the two and have my loaded XML fill up the Array and the dynamic menu.
Here is the XML portion:
Actionscript Code: //Importsimport flash.net.URLLoader;import flash.net.URLRequest;import flash.events.Event;//Create XMl variablevar teamsXML:XML;//Create URL Loadervar xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();//Tell the URLLoader named XMlLoader to listen for the xml //file to finish loading, then run the function
What I'm trying to do is taking a XML file that have data that I put into a MovieClip call "field" that reside in my library and into that MC I have numerous text field to put my data into, in that XML file I have a field call <link> that I want to use as a URLRequest but I can't seem to be able to assign it.
I'm trying to populate an array with info loaded in from an xml file. I've got the xml loading fine and I can trace everything but cannot seem to access the info outside of the function...here's my code:
My trace inside of the populateNav function works great...all the info is there and image_path returns all of my...image paths. So my XML is fine...what I can't seem to do is pass that info outside of the populateNav function. My imageholder trace returns undefined. I think it's got something to do with the fact that the imageholder trace is being performed before the xml is fully loaded...not sure what to do about that though.
what if u want to parse a whole html table into flash and turn each colunm into an actionscript 3 array? flash doesnt know how many rows the table has, but i could print the number of rows in the same page as the html table, and make it parse the number of rows from the same page after a urlrequest the first step is to probably make a php page with my database splayed out as a table, maybe with
numrows=2 and so on as table entries, and then have flash urlrequest the page i can do that, but i dont know how to parse each column into an actionscript 3 array but it only shows how to parse one value, not a whole array:[URL]
In my movie i have a link button with following, simple, function creating a link:
[Code]...
lately i've associated a class file (.as) to my movie and immediately after, when publishing the movie i got the following error message: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: URLRequest. as well as a couple of other related error messages: 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method URLRequest. 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method navigateToURL. when i remove the link to the class file, the problem goes away. also, i have checked the class file for mentioning of "URLRequest" and nothing is there.
I want a movieclip consisting of a dynamic text box that, from the time it's loaded onto the stage, loads a randomly selected text string from an array, and continues to loop until the clip is removed from the stage. I also want the text strings to appear in the text box for random intervals between 500 and 3000 milliseconds.
While I've found tutorials here and elsewhere on loading one element from an array, usually triggered by a button, I don't know how to combine/alter it with the other elements.So I want this movieclip on the stage randomly flashing phrases from an array, some for a barely perceptible time, and others for a readable time.
I've been putting data into an array via XML, and then selecting at random an image string to load in a pic at random. But whilst doing this, I wanted to remove the String from the Array that I have just used, so I don't get repetition of the same image in the output. I initially thought that pop would remove the string I had just used - But of course it Removes the last value in the Array instead, which doesn't really help.
Ok - so how about randomizing the data once inside the Array, after it has been pulled in from XML!? That way I can load in the 'last' image, and then pop it out! Keeping a randomized selection of images each time 'it' is loaded
var req = new URLRequest("submit.php"); I want to do that for either localhost or the remote host, using the same code. As written, it will read the raw php as a file. If I insert a host name and protocol:
I would like to do a URLRequest to a PHP file which contains xml, and the PHP file will be living on a seperate server from my flash file. I understand there are security issues in this sort of thing. figure out how to make this work?
My Flex client app has got some data from the back end (RemoteObjects, BlazeDS, Spring). Client has got all the data it needs, it now needs to put some information in a CSV format and make it available for download.Using Flex 3 for this.
I am still using flash MX. I'm pulling random text from a textfile (array.txt) into movieclip instance textbox.[code]All is good, but now my question is if I can have a text effect as well. For example having the random quotes typed out as they appear.
I am running into an issue with passing variables from Actionscript 3 to PHP.This is a very basic program just for testing purposes to find out if this will work.Here is the Actionscript 3 coding (One button named 'btn_Submit' and one text box named 'txt_User' are on the stage).This is a very simple attempt to input text into an 'Input Text Box', upon pressing a submit button, it should pass the text to a php file named 'test.php'.The .swf file and the test.php files are both located in the same directory on my webserver (main directory for subdomain 'www.testing.budgetmylife.net')For the URLRequest parameter, I have even tried just ("test.php"), without success:
import flash.events.* import flash.net.*; var myVariables:URLVariables = new URLVariables();
I have made a XMLloader with URLrequest, and it works locally by calling the file directly by its name ie. "myFile.swf". var presLoader:Loader = new Loader(); presLoader.load(new URLRequest("myFile.swf")); addChild(presLoader);
But when I uploaded the loader to the server, I have no file, only "URL not found"-error. So I found out that I should change to URL to "/Files/Images/subloader/myFile.swf" then it will load. But thats a real problem, because I have several loaders.
im playing with the load random movie (but loading a random xml file instead) based on the wonderful tutorial from front page and was wondering whether anyone can show me the work around/upgrade to AS2 for this bit of script since im publishing to Flash 8 /AS2 and it doesnt work:
I am using AIR to make a little installer. How would I go accessing a file in there application data folder for all platforms? When trying to access it directly it works just file.
what im thinking is each mc loaded is pushed into the array then on the press of a button or keyboard press the array is cleared and the movieclips that were inside the array are removed from the stage. trouble is i dont know how to write that. some guidance would be great.
Is it possible to control one loaded SWF File eg.(MOVIE-1.swf) from another loaded SWF file eg.(MOVIE-0.swf) on a different level? eg. with a syntax like:
convert pdf file into byte array.and also i tried in Google also but no results yet.can u prefer how to convert pdf file into byte array and retrieve byte array into pdf file in flex application.
I am wondering if it is possible to use random file access for reading and writing data to file in Actionscipt 3.0 similar to that what is in Visual Basic?
I'm working on a game that needs certain pages to be loaded depending on a random generated number.Here's what I've done to make each room load up.[code]I know I'm meant to put the relevant page inside removeChild"(this)" but the 'mapButton' applies to all pages and there is in total, 36 of them.
I would like to use an array to play 5 sound files randomly.Here's the code I've got so far! Can anyone tell me what code I'm missing?
var my_sounds:Array = [Sound1, Sound2, Sound3, Sound4, Sound5]; var s1:Sound = new Sound(new URLRequest("GentleSeaOnFlatBeach.wav"));var s2:Sound = new Sound(new URLRequest("SPLASH.wav"));var s3:Sound = new Sound(new
I've got the following script that loops an array of movieclips at random positions in and out of the stage using Tweener. My problem is that the loop uses all the movieclips (WELCOME00, WELCOME01, etc.) at once. What I'd like is for the loop to only use one of the movieclips, chosen at random, for the loop instead of all of the movieclips listed in the array at one time.
Code: import caurina.transitions.*; var mcArray:Array = [WELCOME00, WELCOME01, WELCOME02, WELCOME03]; var init:Boolean = true;
I have an assignment where I need to create an array with 9 numbers between 1 and 34, also none of the numbers need to appear twice.This is what I have so far, so as you can see I'm stuck on the part where I have to check if the number already exists in the array.[code]
