ActionScript 3.0 :: Separating Up A TLF Text Field
Oct 31, 2010
I recently began a project and soon felt that it would be useful for me to have my users put a code into a TLF text field, such as 0123456. The user then clicks a button and each character of the text field are put into several variables.
For example:
Code:
variable1_var = "first character in text field"
variable2_var = "second character in text field"
/* This would be repeated up to variable7_var */
variable1_var would equal 0 and variable2_var would equal 1, so on and so forth.
i have an xml file .... i have imported it into flash mx 2004, tutorial i have even applied css properties to it ( i know thats prop easy for most of you guys but im happy ) my question is this ... i would like to rotate messages on some kind of timer ... ie xml file - ( im guessing at this point cos its worked so far ... )
<message> <caption1>this is caption 1</caption1> <caption2>this is caption 2</caption2> <caption3>this is caption 3</caption3> </message>
flash action script ... what i would like to achieve... the flash file to import the xml file into a dynamic text box which i have done, but at the moment it is showing all the captions in one go .. i would like to show.. caption1 .... wait X amount of time ( a variable in seconds ? - how would i do that ? ) a motion tween to get rid of the message ( not sure what yet but i understand the basic principles so will experiment and be creative ) caption2 .... etc.
I've got some dynamic text (from coldfusion) coming in to my flash movie and I need to turn what's coming in into a bulleted list. right now it's a list of features delimited by commas like this: Anodized aluminum deck construction, anodized aluminum t-rail, extra heavy vinyl, Nextwave electrical system, etc., etc. Is this possible with actionscript?
Is it possible to call different data from a same text file? In the tutorial about the dynamically loaded text, the example was "kirupatext=" and the text was loaded from after that in the txt file. Is it possible to make it stop loading after a certain point?
For example, " kirupatext= Hello There! I am an example of text that has been loaded from a separate location on kirupa's server. Best of all, notice that you can scroll the contents of the text up and down by clicking on the arrows. This is a nice, useful feature that you can use on your site."
How can I make it load only up to "Best of all"? Is it possible to break up the text into 2 parts so that they are loaded by different text boxes? i tried adding another marker like "kirupatext2=" at another point, but it just gets loaded along with the first "kirupatext=".
Is there a way to pass the textfield A text to a dynamic text input (flash) as I'd like to use the font embedding flash offers. I can make it work when loading a value from a txt file but I'm not sure how to access the value identified above as KitGroupID_16_TextOption_38 and make it appear in a dynamic input box. Eventually I might want to have 3 font choices for the user but I'd like to just see if I can get this working properly first.
Is it possible to login through flash using one Dynamic Text Field and one Input Text Field and no buttons? If so how? I have seen many tutorials dealing with logging in to PHP using flash but it requires you to make your own php scripts which i am not familiar with. Can some one tell me how to do this with PHPBBs existing php scripts... I want to be able to login thorugh a Input Text Field box and have it verify it in PHP and also be able to register and view other PHP info such as users online and FAQ..
I'm making a calculator using Flash MX that works the same way as the basic calculator found on windows (not the scientific one). But having the user input a number, store it as a variable, store which function the user wants to perform and clear the text field then store the new input in the same text field as a different variable and multiply or add or divide or subtract the 2 numbers and getting the equals sign to display the answer when clicked is harder than I thought it would be.
I am working on a file that has a rotating dial, and I'd like the dial to reveal contents of a text field (a link) as the dial points in the direction of the text field. I have 4 text fields located at 90, 180, 270 and 360 degrees (top, bottom, left and right). I have it controlled via AS, so I've got all the Math but I was hoping someone might know how to reveal the links when the arrow (in the dial) is pointing in these directions.I set up a text field for testing, which shows the degrees, but I'm getting 'NaN' in the field (problems with Theta and converting degrees to Radians, I think). I thought this might help me figure out how to reveal those links, if I can get the NaN to work.Currently, the file is rotating with an onPress, but I'm going to convert it to a mouse follow, instead, so the user only has to float around to see the links.
What I'm trying to do is to write something in an input field and then it should show up in a dinamic field. I can make this happen, but the problem is that the dinamic field shows its new text in the same format as the Input field. For example, the input text is written in TimesNewRoman and the dinamic text is in Arial, but when the dinamic text shows the input, the text is still in TimesNewRoman when I want it to be in Arial.
I've created a dynamic text field - mediaImportName001 (created , and populated it with the name of a file that I choose to import using a browse button (as3 and AIR).This works fine - I can import the file, and the name appears in the field.
I'd now like to pass the contents of the text field to another text field. But I can't get the contents. If I try to trace the contents of the textField trace("mediaImportName"+thisNum).text - Flash returns "undefined" (even though I'm asking it to trace after the field has been populated).
I use the following code to check that the field really is there and named correctly (the code returns the children):
I want to make a search button on my site. I have a bunch of pdf files in a specific location on my site. I want to create a search field where the end user inputs text into a field and flash locates and opens the corresponding pdf file.
Trying to get a text field in my Flash MX movie to pull from and XML file with CDATA tags to show as HTML. I've checked the box to render as HTML for the text data field... but I'm having problems with the Actionscripting.
The field from this line is what I need to recognize as HTML reading CDATA tags:
How can I type something in my input text field without clicking on the field first? Basically I just have one input text field on the stage and when I Test Movie I would like to just type in some text without clicking on the field...
I have a dynamic text on the stage which gets updated (shows numbers) when some buttons are pressed.I just need to know if it is possible to show the first dynamic textfield in another dynamic textfield.Lets say the first dynamic textfield called "price" and the second one called "price2". when a button is pressed, the first dynamic textfield "price" will show a number. is it possible to show whatever is shown in the "price" in "price2" ?
I'm creating an XML-driven pie chart in AS3 with 2 text boxes in each pie slice. Both text fields are dynamic in the sense that they are populated by the XML doc and then told where to place themselves in the AS3. I've got them both using the same x and y position to place themselves at the moment (which of course puts them right one top of each other), but I'd like to make one of the fields (which acts like a label or a title to the larger number and % text field) place itself in a particular spot around the other text field. The result I'm looking for is to have the smaller "title" text field appear approximately 5 pixels above and left-justified to the larger "percentage" field.
Anyway, here are two sections of code that I've currently got. The first chunk, for the Tags portion, sets the position for the "percentage" text field using a good old x and y method. The second chunk, for Titles, is setting the position for the smaller "title" text.
//evaluate tags private function evaluateTags():void{ for (s=0; s
Problem: I am trying to get a very simple text resize going, for my main content area in a flash website. My aim is to get a button, that on click, increases the text size of a dynamic text field.
[Code]....
This is what I tried, I am very new to Action Script, so excuse the futility of my code.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong for this simple task. I have a sheet and right now I only want to use a small portion of the sheet. I try to click on the sheet and it moves around. I lock it, and I can't select any part of it. How do I separate it?
BTW does it matter if it's a symbol or just a PNG sheet?
I'm trying to seperate my projects along a horizontal and vertical row, for every project the images are shown vertically one after the other, then when the </project> closes and a new one opens a new column is created (creating the horizontal row).
i am almost there with it, i think i just need an if or for each piece of code to separate out the projects but i cannot figure it out. Here is the important part of my code:
Is it possible to create gradient text with text in a text field, without using a different object?
I have three text fields sitting right next to each other, to create a row. Some times the text is longer than the width of the text field, I don't want to widen the the text field to make it fit, I just want to fade the last 20 - 50 pixels of the text out.
Is this possible to do without using an object above it, such as a gradient?
I have a problem with a dynamic text field. I have 1 text field on frome 10 which displays text from a text file. This text can change when a button is clicked. I have another text file on frame 20, which i want to display what ever text is in the text filed on frame 10.
I have tried:- [AS]MyTextboxFrame20.text = MyTextboxFrame10.text;[/AS] but it doesn't work.
well i have this string im receiving from an URL: "245500" All I need to do is separate all of the characters, so it would gimme back an array just like
PHP Code:
Array = ["2", "4", "5", "5", "0", "0"]
I've tried using .split(), but since it does not have an index (like a comma or dot), it won't do..
I Have been working on a collision detector based on the seperating axis theroem as explained here .[URL]..
And i am working on a polygon vs polygon collision example. I have put together a Veronoi Regions Test in flash but i dont kno whte correct way to find if a the closest point or axis inside on of my regions or even to determine if it is in these areas. Can someone please help me.
Right now I have an array with a bunch of different file and folder names in it. I want to separate the files and folders in to two separate arrays. How would I check the arrays to see if the elements have a "." in them, and then if they do have a "." in them, put them into files array.
What I want: The thumbnails for the gallery (but not the larger image) must be visible on all pages. When one of them is clicked, you will go to the corresponding larger image in the photo gallery.
What I've been able to get is this; [URL] (note: there are no pages other than the initial page and the photo album, its still a WIP)
It's close to what I want it to behave like, the only problem is that each thumbnail simply links to the full gallery .swf, which always starts at the first photo in the list.
I have thought of using a single .swlf and resizing the stage when a thumb is clicked, but thats not a very elegant solution. Besides, it might not even be possible.
Is there a way to make it so that when you click a link in the 'thumbnails only' swf, it will link to the corresponding large image in the 'full album' swf? Or is there maybe another way to approach this whole ordeal?
I have the folowing codo to load text from a text file into a text field in my flash document:
loadVarsText = new loadVars(); loadVarsText.load("homePage.txt"); loadVarsText.onLoad = function(success) {
[Code]....
the same, and I want to make the homePage.txt file load when the flash file starts, that is what it does right now by placing the code on the main timeline.
I have a series of buttons on a page that I want the user to be able to re-arrange. To do this, I have a MOUSE_DOWN event listener that triggers a startDrag. However, these buttons are also essentially menu items so when user clicks on them, they should load the appropriate URL. I don't want them to act as menu buttons when a user is trying to move them about. I have three event listeners on each button, one for the MOUSE_DOWN and one for the CLICK event and one for MOUSE_UP but the function associated to the CLICK event also fires on the MOUSE_UP.
I have a text field component that I am dynamically populating with text. The words appear one letter at a time in a teleprinter style fashion. I also have rendered certain words with HTML to make style changes within the text. Now all this works fine, except because the HTML text is larger than the body of the other text, I am losing theteleprintereffect at the bottom of the text field. In other words, after a set amount has been printed, users are not seeing the letters printed out one at a time, but instead just get a printed line of text appear from beneath the visible section of the text window.
I created a somewhat custom Spark button by doing the File > New > MXML skin and basing it on spark.components.button. The problem is that I need to add an extra text field to the button component and dynamically change that text...but of course, the property isn't recognized on a Spark Button.
Is there a simple way to add this field to my custom button skin & its property so it can be addressed? If not, is there a simple way to take what I've done and just extend the Spark Button? I can't seem to find any examples that show how to do it without writing it all up in ActionScript.
